Former ECW tag champ found dead today
by Dave Meltzer

John Kronus was found dead today at his apartment in New Hampshire. At this point, no other details are available.
Kronus & Perry Saturn, as The Eliminators, were pushed by Paul Heyman as "The Best Tag Team in the World," during much of 1996 and 1997, as multiple-time ECW tag champions. New Jack & Kronus also held the title.

Wow. Absolute suck.
What's worse is that this will add to the "wrestlers dying younger than normal" frenzy in the media

RIP
I have fond memories of the Eliminators in ECW.

What does it say about wrestling that absolutely noone cares about this? This business is really starting to disgust me.

Dude, I agree totally.
Honestly I LOVE wrestling. I always have. But as I get older there are things about the business that make me feel like I'm supporting something that doesn't deserve it.
Pretty sad.

I can't imagine ever losing my love for wrestling. God, it' been part of my life since I was probably 4. Seriously though, at this point it's like a moral delimma for me. It's getting harder and harder for me to divorce the entertainment on screen from the filthy underbelly of the world of pro-wrestling.

Kronus lived a town over from where I live, just down the road, actually.

Yeah, you'd mentioned that to me before, but I'd completely forgotten about it.
This does suck, and I agree about the sentiments over this moral dilemna. But I do want to point out that it seems (for the most part) the generation of wrestlers who hit their prime in the 80's and 90's are the ones suffering these tragic, early age deaths (due to drugs, steroids, etc). The generation that worked in the 60's, and 70's didn't have this fate, and I hold hope that the current generation of young stars are taking better care of themselves.
whitemilesdavis - July 22, 2007 11:26 PM (GMT)
I don't see why that should make me feel better.
SamoaRowe - July 23, 2007 12:18 AM (GMT)
I'm not saying it should make you feel better, but it does seem to me that it was the 80's-90's era stars that are dropping dead early.
The older generation seemed to have survived into later ages and the jury is still out on the current crop.
