Doe v. Abyss is likely to be a huge stinker.

whitemilesdavis - January 26, 2005 04:16 PM (GMT)
No Tag-title match? Surely Southern Comfort will be added.

Mad Dog - January 26, 2005 04:31 PM (GMT)
How old is Super Hentai?

I don't think you need to tell me that. I avoid posting it over at IWC though, because Doe posts there and honestly, he's a cool guy and I don't really have the heart to go all apeshit on him about it. I'm sure that's why you don't as well..........or at least I think.

In other words, if it's good.....I'll be surprised.

The retirement is a work. He's not that old.

Also WMD, SC might be there......but no word yet.

I've had some pretty lengthy conversations with Doe about his ringwork, and I've never felt that I had to hold back. Doe is (or was) capable of much more than he ever shows. A lot of people think that he's a good brawler, but truth be told even THAT is not too great. He shows tons of daylight on his strikes, and he doesn't come across as very believable in the ring with bigger wrestlers.

I don't post shit like this on the IWC board because I don't ever feel like dealing with the zombies there.

Oh, you have? Well, at least he can look at himself objectively. I should have assumed that though with his personality. I agree that his ringwork has never been where it should be, and I don't credit him for being a great brawler either as I couldn't agree more with your comments on his brawling. He surely doesn't work well with the bigger guy and your right....he's NOT believable....hell, he didn't seem believable when he fought Balls either time. I'd honestly like to see him working with smaller guys, just to see what can be pulled out of him. I remember years ago seeing him in PWX, and he was just absolutely awful. At least he's improved since then, but honestly he needs to get in better ring shape and sharpen his skills...........but he's been in the sport for a while, so I'm not expecting anything drastic though.

Well, I don't blame you then for posting something like this over at IWC.....they'd probably ban you for it.

Yeah, he's usually his own worst critic.

Interesting, I actually think he was BETTER back then, before he settled into the brawling routine. I worked on a few shows with him back when Quackenbush had his organization going in Pittsburgh and he was doing lucha style things that we'd never seen before.

Not gonna happen :)

What year was that? I've never seen him wrestle remotely lucha, maybe it's just me and I don't remember.......so I could be wrong. I didn't know you were a worker? I doubt you'd reveal your identity to me, but still. You still work?

Not going to get banned huh? Hmmmm.........interesting. I may be a step closer to revealing the Shadow. Kidding, I honestly have no idea. But as you probably know, I'm usually at the shows so if you want stop over and shoot the shit. You idenity is safe with me........:ph43r:

You probably wouldn't have unless you were hardcore into the indy scene from like 95-96 and stuff. Quack had an outlaw promotion that actually operated in Pittsburgh, State College, and out east. Doe worked shows with him under the name Masahiro Panic. He didn't necessarily work a lucha style during a match, but when working out in the ring he would bust out all this stuff we'd never seen before.

Yeah, the deal with that. I was trained by Quackenbush, who had no business training anyone at that point. I worked some shows from 95-97. After Quack disbanded his promotion (actually a falling out between him and Perfect Creation), I couldn't exactly tell a promoter that I was legit trained. Plus I didn't have the time to devote to full time training. I do go work with Chris Lash's APWF briefly but that's about it.

dynamite kido - January 31, 2005 02:40 PM (GMT)
Apparently, they've added Chris Hamrick vs. Soldier for the IWC international title.

whitemilesdavis - February 2, 2005 05:46 PM (GMT)
I don't know who Soldier is, but if he's even moderately decent, you'll see an entertaining match.

He's moderately decent. I haven't seen anything overly outstanding in any of his IWC matches. IWC fans will either:

a. excessively praise his work because he's from Japan
b. laugh because he's a funny Jap

...depending on which part of the crowd you're sitting in.

This could be bad then. Hamrick has been known to veer to comedy matches at times, and if Soldier has those same tendencies, well...it may not be great.

I don't think that's what Shadow meant. He means that the fans can tend to me retards.........and he's correct.

whitemilesdavis - February 2, 2005 07:38 PM (GMT)
Oh, so he's not a funny Jap, he's just a Jap, and the retard fans may think that's funny. OK.

That may be the least PC post I've ever made.

You got it. Towards the end of his last tour he kinda started playing it up a little, but he's definitely not a comedy wrestler.

whitemilesdavis - February 2, 2005 07:50 PM (GMT)
Ahh. Cool. Can he put on a good spotfest?

dynamite kido - February 2, 2005 08:17 PM (GMT)
For the little of Soldier that I've seen, he doesn't seem to be the spotfest type......but I think Shadow might know better than me on this one.

Well I've seen 2 of his WMF matches, and all of his Pittsburgh-area IWC matches (I think there was one out east that I didn't see). He wrestles the same style in both, definitely not a spotfest guy but he has a couple high spots that he breaks out. He actually seemed really psychologically sound from what I've seen.
