***IMPORTANT***
This synopsis is just a small sampling of the monthly WWE 24/7 On Demand programming.

I'm surprised WrestleMania VII isn't making the cut, unless they don't want to give away all of the "Big Ones". GAB '88 will be nice to have, since my copy is the crappy Turner Video version, which clips the shit out of the first two matches. In all, it seems like a more promising month theme wise than June.

eStragand - June 12, 2007 06:16 AM (GMT)
No Corporal Kirschner matches?!!

Smart money says Hacksaw opens each "Shorties" segment by saying "hey folks!"

Good to see that they're including "Thursday Raw Thursday" as part of the MNW package. Doesn't RAW make a switch to 2 hours, soon?

I'm guessing the 88 GAB will be the crapy Turner Home Video version. They did the same for the Crockett Cup shows they aired in October and January, which were just clipped to hell.

Scrooge McSuck - June 12, 2007 07:14 PM (GMT)
Those weren't televised live, so that was understandable.

I think that the latest update is one of the better selections since I've gotten the service. A LOT of stuff from my period (1988-1992).

-Hacksaw Jim Duggan Coliseum Video. Has a pretty good capsule of the Duggan-Harley Race feud from late 1987. Shows all the incidents leading up it --including their "hardcore" Slammy brawl-- and their MSG blow-off match.

-Great American Bash 1988. C'mon now.. it's old school JCP/NWA stuff!

-An MSG show from December 1990. Sure, it has a BARBARIAN match, but I love houseshows from 1988 to 1992.

-Shorties looks okay, with matches from Sgt. Slaughter and Edge/Hogan vs. Chuck/Billy. Hacksaw vs. Andre is in there somewhere, too.

Watched the 12/14/82 World Class episode. A review is coming along soon (probably tonight).

They re-run the Flair/Fritz promo, but that's okay. They could re-run it every week and it'd still be awesome. Fritz slipping down into his growly voice and calling Flair a "Mo-ron" rules.

I'm also seeing that all Brian Adidas/Adias is good for is throwing a dropkick.

The host segment with Hayes and Kevin talks about Magic Dragon. Dragon was a good buddy of Kabuki. Kabuki bought Dragon plane tickets for his honeymoon, but the plane crashed over Korea.

Hmm...curiouser and curiouser. The "Monday Night Wars" segment wasn't due to expire until next week. But, it's been prematurely deleted. Benoit Conspiracy?

Mad Dog - July 2, 2007 05:42 AM (GMT)
They deleted everything that had Benoit on it.

Are you fucking shitting me?

Do they still have Mania up?

Mad Dog - July 2, 2007 02:49 PM (GMT)
Nope. All stuff from the 80s and early 90s right now.

dynamite kido - July 2, 2007 03:40 PM (GMT)
I'm sorry, but that's fucking bullshit. I'm not thrilled with the guy, but trying to erase him from the history books??? WTF?

Mad Dog - July 3, 2007 01:17 AM (GMT)
I think it's just a short term deal. I would have no problem with them holding back stuff with him until feelings have cooled a little.

eStragand - July 3, 2007 07:48 PM (GMT)
Watched the TNT from 12/20/85. It's kinda' funny how the audience seems to dig the heels, more. Jesse and Piper are both guests and everyone chuckles at their little zingers. Best is when Piper gives Vince McMahon a gift, pats him on the shoulder and says: "I love you, receeding hairline and all"

The "Ebenezeer Piper" sketch is included and it's bad. I have to ask, who is the guy who played "Cratchitt" in that sketch? He also played Heenan' lawyer on PTW, Nikolai Vokov's uncle, and had numerous parts in the Fuji movies. He always seemed to always pop up when they needed some slapstick character.

Since the What are You Watching threads haven't been doing much lately, and the 24-7 threads have, I figured I'd merge the ideas and pin it. If it gets confusing, we'll go back to the old way.

eStragand - July 8, 2007 05:42 PM (GMT)
The 1988 Great American Bash is definitely worth a watch. Arn Anderson with a sleeper! Sting with a plancha onto the floor! Lex Luger with a dropkick! Nikita with hair! The Tower of Doom malfunctions!

The S.S. Nintendo - July 8, 2007 09:15 PM (GMT)
I watched Luger vs. Yokozuna from Summerslam '93, even though I already own the tape. And then I saw the Legends Roundtable, and that was a pretty good segment on "Heat Seekers".

By the way, I was looking for the Monday Night Wars episodes, and it's under the "Premium Channels" category next to WWE 24/7.

Mad Dog - July 8, 2007 09:48 PM (GMT)
Nice little surprise on Primetime this week as the Crush Gals make an appearance.

eStragand - July 17, 2007 06:43 PM (GMT)
Nitro from 2.10.97: I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but it's kinda' funny how referee Randy Anderson was fired... yet still travels around the country with the broadcast. This week, he even had enough money to fly his wife and family into Jacksonville.

The ECW episodes are quickly becoming garbage. Highlights of a decent match, then a quick squash match (Konan vs. Jason? WTF?!) or angle development. Top it all off with 15 minutes of spliced-together promos featuring every feud in the promotion. And Bubba Ray Dudley...isn't he funny?! Bubba Ray Dudley! He stutters until he's slapped! isn't that funny?! In case you missed him, here's Bubba Ray Dudley. He stutters!

Question about the TNT "best of '85" episode: they showed some model broad and I couldn't make out her name. Sounded like: "Lisa Stevens" or "Lisa Steamboat"(?!). Vince said that she's also a wrestler. I've never heard of her, or seen her before. Any ideas?

eStragand - July 23, 2007 12:55 AM (GMT)
The Prime Time was okay...but included three lonnnnnng tag matches: Can-Spams vs. Shadows, Islanders vs. Roma/Powers and Bulldogs/Billy Jack vs. Hart Foundation/Danny Davis. They also had a JIP version of the infamous Steamboat-HonkyTonk title switch.

Funny thing about the Islanders match: Heenan claims he's trying to dress them up and make them gentlemen. So he has them come to the ring wearing little purple bowties.

In the studio segments, Gorilla and the Brain are giving away free 1987 WWF calendars to whoever wrote in. Free calendars....and the show aired on June 22. I'm sure the 1987 WWF calendar would make a swell gift for the Christmas 1987 season!

eStragand - July 24, 2007 04:00 PM (GMT)
Rapidly trying to record everything so I can take a two week break. So I watched the 1993 Survivor Series and the 2/17/97 RAW last night.

I was surprised that I actually enjoyed the Survivor Series. Even the "Four Doinks" match. Kinda' cool how Bobby Heenan had been telegraphing the entire Owen Hart turn. It was also weird to see Bret Hart in short pants.

The 2/17 RAW: awww, Sid's so cute...trying to do a sunset flip. In an eerie pre-match promo, Sid says that he'd wrestle for the championship even if his leg was busted. Considering what happened to his leg about 4 years later in a championship match, it's creepy.
