Title: Horror Movies....
Description: Paging DK... Paging DK

The Last Free Voice - January 24, 2005 08:08 PM (GMT)
With my newfound fanboydom with the Misfits, I'm thinking about getting into some horror movies... But I have no clue where to start and to be perfectly honest, I'm a bit of a chicken-shit. I really wanna see THX1138, but I know that's more Sci-Fi. So, where do I start?

Scrooge McSuck - January 24, 2005 08:13 PM (GMT)
If I may interject myself...

Always start with the classics like Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday The 13th... and maybe Dawn of the Dead (or whatever DK is pimping in his signature/avatar this week). Night of the Living Dead is good, and I recommend Return of the Living Dead (not really horror, as it's mainly a spoof).

The Last Free Voice - January 24, 2005 08:14 PM (GMT)
um, you just recomended Return of the Living Dead twice. Did you mean Shaun of the Dead?

Scrooge McSuck - January 24, 2005 08:15 PM (GMT)
I mean Night, my bad.

The Last Free Voice - January 24, 2005 08:17 PM (GMT)
Ah. Okay. Has anyone SEEN THX... I generally know what it's about, but if it's not worht my time I won't bother. (But it's a Lucas flick, I doubt it's nto worth my time...)

Scrooge McSuck - January 24, 2005 08:19 PM (GMT)
THX 1138? It's a Sci-Fi Drama.

Is it good?

I've never seen it, but it sounds good.

The Last Free Voice - January 24, 2005 08:28 PM (GMT)
I think I'm gonna have to check this one out. And probibly Friday the 13th, too. I'll keep you guys updated.

Scrooge McSuck - January 24, 2005 08:30 PM (GMT)
You can get the Friday The 13th set (Parts I-VIII) for a cheap $56 (free shipping I think) on Amazon.com. Just incase...

Big F'N Swigg - January 24, 2005 09:25 PM (GMT)
Watch Evil Dead.

Alone

In the Dark

While hungry.

It's best that way.

The Last Free Voice - January 24, 2005 10:43 PM (GMT)
Did you not see the "i'm a bit of a chicken shit" line? Replace "a little bit" with the much more honest " a huge" and I think you'll get my situation.

Scrooge McSuck - January 24, 2005 10:55 PM (GMT)
Pussy... do what I do. Pause/Freeze frame a gory scene, and study it. You'll notice how silly everything looks.

The Last Free Voice - January 24, 2005 11:05 PM (GMT)
Good Idea. I can handle gore, i think. I just can't handle the creepy ambiance.

Well if that is the case.......get anything made by Dario Argento.

Nevermind, that would probably make you shit yourself.

Try all the flicks listed here......also Re-Animator(gorefest, but brilliant) is awesome, BrainDead(aka Dead Alive) by Peter Jackson is good too(Although I would have to warn you, it might be the goriest film ever....at least that you could buy at Best Buy). It really depends on what kind of horror you are looking for, and what you can handle. I could recommend tons, but alot are gore heavy and the ones that aren't......like I said, may make you shit yourself. If you wanna kind of a sci-fi/horror cross check out David Cronenburg flix, like The Fly, The Brood, etc. Also, if you decide to watch the "Dead" series, do yourself a favor and watch in the following order.....Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and Day of the Dead. They all kick major amounts of balls.

yea, I'm thinking Sci-Fi/horror/Suspense may be my thing. And I shall also check out the Dead series, as they seem to be pretty popular.

Sci-fi horror huh? Have you seen Alien and Aliens before? Those are two really great films from that genre. Also checkout stuff like Re-Animator, David Cronenburg is always a horror/sci-fi cross, George Romero's The Crazies, Dog Soldiers, Jacob's Ladder, and of course on of my all time fav's (although it's just really sci-fi) is John Carpenter's They Live with Roddy Piper. I suggest you see that if you haven't.....being a wrestling fan and all.
