Description: The Search For More Xs & crappy games

February 6th from Some Craphole...

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES vs. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

I hate both teams and wish harm on every single player, so I couldn't give a fuck. But feel free to discuss your favorite things about these two times, as well as the upcoming Pro Bowl Game that no one gives a shit about. If anyone cares, can they post the rosters for the two teams.

Here's my OFFICIAL prediction for Super Bowl XXXIX:

Philadelphia Eagles over New England Patriots 17-13

The Shadow - January 24, 2005 02:24 PM (GMT)
I can see why people hate the Eagles, their boasting nature even when blowing 3 NFC title games in a row can rub people the wrong way. And the Philly fans, nuff said. But I just can't imagine why people hate the Pats. They're a great team. They play smart football. Belichick is a genius coach. They have almost no "me-first" players. Jealousy is the only reason I can come up with why someone would dislike the Pats.

And this is coming from someone who just watched his hometown team get routed by the Pats.

Scrooge McSuck - January 24, 2005 02:44 PM (GMT)
I don't hate either team, I just don't care or follow either of them. My teams were either eliminated (NY Jets) or didn't make the playoffs due to a horrible 2nd half of the season (NY Giants).

I said hate because I lost a bet on Pittsburgh. FUCKING STEELERS!

Goddamn it! If I would have known that CB bet on the game......I wouldn't have watched it. If only he would've bet on the Pats

They have almost no "me-first" players.

Corey Dillon is "me-first" enough for several teams.

And honestly, I hate the Pats because 1) ESPN and other sports outlets won't get off their nuts, 2) Tom Brady is good, but not as good as he's made out to be, 3) Though he's a good coach, I don't like Bill Belichick.

And though they're from Boston, they keep the Bills down. Which is bad.

Mad Dog - January 24, 2005 03:16 PM (GMT)
This became an I don't care game but I hope Philly loses so their fans can stay miserable.

dynamite kido - January 24, 2005 03:17 PM (GMT)
Even though I had to swallow that fucking loss last night......I think Belichick is the best coach in football, and I like him too. He's a humble guy and he always gives the other team credit. In other words....he's a hell of a coach.

Scrooge McSuck - January 24, 2005 03:21 PM (GMT)
OH wait... I do hate New England. God Damn ESPN and their sucking the proverbial dick of the Pats every chance they can, like a whore who needs money for crack.

So hate ESPN, not the Pats.

Agreed on all your points, PLUS if the Pats win, I will never ever hear the end of it from all the New England sports fans in my dorm. I already had to deal with the Yankees collapse, I can't deal with the Pats winning the Super Bowl again.

The Shadow - January 24, 2005 06:35 PM (GMT)
Okay, so you guys don't hate the Pats, but rather the fans and the media. Check.

Absolutely, and I'll live up to it. It may seem kind of shallow, but when it comes to sports, I generally end up hating anyone who is overhyped. Alex Rodriguez, Jason Giambi, Ray Lewis, LeBron James, Tom Brady, and Kobe Bryant are all fantastic players (or in Giambi's case, was) but were consistently shoved down my throat by various sources and pushed as some of the greatest all of all time, when I don't think any of them can be considered as such YET. It just makes me puke when someone compares Lebron James to Michael Jordan. Shit, the kid is awesome at what he does, but I haven't seen him win NBA titles with Luc Longely and Bill Wennington playing center yet, so let's hold off on the Heir Apparent shit for awhile.

I realize that's all a very, very subjective additude to take, but that's the fun of sports. :D

Scrooge McSuck - January 24, 2005 07:28 PM (GMT)
I love how people complain (rant time) about Yankee fans. If anyone actually watches a game at Yankee Stadium, the crowd is always respectful to everyone (home and away, unless its Boston of course) and never treats former Yankee players like scum (Boston: ROOOOOOGER, ROOOGER).

Sure, we have bitter fans scattered around, but overall I say Yankee fans are some of the best. More team fans should be like that.

Goat - January 25, 2005 02:54 AM (GMT)
I like the Pats over the Eagles. I'm not going to pick scores because I'm horrible at that, but I think it's going to be as close as people think.

Do you really want every teams fans to be like you and Anglesault?

Mod Note: Don't compare me to Anglesault EVER AGAIN.

Actually, I DO hate the Pats. I'm partial to the Bills. Therefore anyone in the AFC East other than the Bills are my enemy.

I do like the Steelers and the Bengals, though.

Okay, so the Super Bowl didn't seem so Super. Anyone else feel this way?

Not to mention that Donovan McNabb played like a High School QB.

Mad Dog - February 7, 2005 03:42 AM (GMT)
I'm shocked shocked SHOCKED that McNabb didn't come through in another big game situation.

Scrooge McSuck - February 7, 2005 03:46 AM (GMT)
Eh... who cares? Another (Not-So) Super Bowl in the bag. (sips coffee) Final score was 24-14, or did something happen in the last 2 minutes? I was switching from that to playing GTA: Vice City.

Mad Dog - February 7, 2005 04:15 AM (GMT)
I've decided I should be the one to produce next year's halftime show. I call it "A Very Satanic Halftime". It'll be the greatest halftime show ever.

Scrooge McSuck - February 7, 2005 04:18 AM (GMT)
If it somehow causes the game to end 3 hours early, I would agree.

TehDoct0r - February 7, 2005 04:35 AM (GMT)
I gotta give TO credit, to come out cold and have that kinda game is impressive.

Donovan McNabb should kill himself.

Big F'N Swigg - February 7, 2005 05:00 AM (GMT)
I wouldn't say he should kill himself.

Retire, yes, suicide, no.

This game furthers my opinion that Donovan McNabb is WAY overrated.

Scrooge McSuck - February 7, 2005 05:09 AM (GMT)
The Super Bowl every year proves why I'm not that big of a fan of it. In MLB, NBA, and NHL, teams have to win Best of 5/7 for every series, which eliminates any real fluke victory (if a team wins in Game 7 as the underdog, thats not a fluke, thats winning 4 games out of 7). In Football, 1 loss means you're eliminated.

SHHH...... You don't want the people at ESPN calling you a racist.

But 5 or 7 game series aren't really possible in the NFL. The game is too tough to play more than once a week. Plus, I think the possibility of the upset makes the game inherently intersting.

Big F'N Swigg - February 8, 2005 12:20 AM (GMT)
Too bad there was no doubt who was going to win after the first quarter.

Something else I had a problem with: Does anyone else hate Fox Sports? Their presentation and commentary make me want to shoot myself. Am I the only one?

SamoaRowe - February 17, 2005 03:14 PM (GMT)
I watched five minutes of the game and then made fun of the post-game shit for two hours with my girlfriend while we waited for The Simpsons to start.

Mad Dog - February 17, 2005 03:23 PM (GMT)
Don't you just feel like an idiot waiting through the post game shit for the Simpsons? I sure did.

SamoaRowe - February 17, 2005 03:28 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I sort of did. The episode wasn't all that funny. I was glad to see the first viewing of American Dad (wasn't that impressed with that show either) but the highlight of the night was actually making fun of the post-game stuff with my girlfriend.
