Title: Breaking News- Chris Benoit In Near Fatal Crash

Tempest - April 1, 2007 07:34 AM (GMT)
QUOTE

According to recent reports Chris Benoit was in a near fatal car wreck near highway route 14 between his home city of Alberta and Detroit, Michigan. From the reports so far (details are yet forthcoming) he was traveling with his family, whom he was bringing along for the Wrestlemania activities and was blindsided while trying to merge lanes.

The other party involved fled the scene.

Benoit has been hospitalized, though specific injury reports are not yet known. It is extremely unlikely that Benoit will make Wrestlemania Sunday night. However, other parties involved have stated that the injuries are not life threatening.

That really sucks. Maybe he'll use this as a chance to retire full time from the ring. I kind of hope so because he could get out now and not end up in bad shape.

S.T. Strickler - April 1, 2007 02:48 PM (GMT)
Strangely enough, I haven't found anything about this article anywhere else. You sure this isn't an April Fool's joke?

Mad Dog - April 1, 2007 02:49 PM (GMT)
You know, that's a good guess considering he tossed a Russo is quitting thread into the TNA folder.

Scrooge McSuck - April 1, 2007 03:29 PM (GMT)
If it is, I demand the banning of someone, because jokes like these AREN'T funny.

Mad Dog - April 1, 2007 03:48 PM (GMT)
I do have to bash Tempest a bit. He should've used Kane instead so we could see Scrooge cry.

Scrooge McSuck - April 1, 2007 03:52 PM (GMT)
No, then I'd force a ban instead of suggesting one.

Real F'n Show - April 1, 2007 04:12 PM (GMT)
YOU can force bans?

Scrooge McSuck - April 1, 2007 04:35 PM (GMT)
Yes... I'd threaten someone with an anal rape of my cat.

eStragand - April 1, 2007 05:11 PM (GMT)
I don't see anything on WWE.com... I think they'd be all over that if, it was true. If it is an April Fool's Joke, it's a bad one. Tempest shoudn't be banned, as he probably copy n' pasted it from somewhere else. But dude, if you whipped it up on your own... that's wrong.

No source? Always cite a source when posting "news".

Whoever concocted the idea was probably trying for a WEAK punchline of "well, now Benoit really is like his hero, Dynamite Kid". Wasn't Dynamite in a car crash in the late 80's, after he went back to Stampede? Again, that's not a good "joke" and in poor taste.

Scrooge McSuck - April 1, 2007 05:12 PM (GMT)
How about the one about Russo?

eStragand - April 1, 2007 05:16 PM (GMT)
Don't see a source on the Russo one, either. I'm not about to scour the wrestling dirt sites, so I won't be able to confirm or deny the accuracy of either report.

The Russo one does smell like an April Fool's joke, though. There was a huge April Fool's prank pulled in 1998, concerning Flair and Arn going back to the WWF and starting up a new Four Horsemen stable to feud with DX. "Spoilers" were posted and everything (RAW was taped ahead of time in those days). A few, more ridiculous, stories followed in subsequent years. But there was also the story about Sable returning to the WWF, released on April Fool's... and that turned out to be 100% true.

Real F'n Show - April 1, 2007 05:19 PM (GMT)
There's nothing on either, anywhere. If Wrestlemania weren't today, I'd be avoiding the 'net like the plague.

Oh, by the way guys, I'm shutting down DWB.

jamiegeist - April 1, 2007 05:19 PM (GMT)
Yup, April Fizzools.

Read somewhere else that Batista was stabbed in the leg.

I could only hope.

Scrooge McSuck - April 1, 2007 05:38 PM (GMT)
He probably fell on the knife while jogging, judging by how easy the guy hurts himself.

Big F'N Swigg - April 1, 2007 06:47 PM (GMT)
This was almost as good as the Lance Storm joke a year or two ago.

Tempest - April 1, 2007 07:02 PM (GMT)
Yeah, this was an April Fool's joke. Somebody posted it on another board and got similar responses to the one's I got here.

I copied and pasted it, and changed the route 41 line to route 14 to make it less obvious.

4/1= April first; get it?

The Russo thread in TNA is a joke too. There's a line about a $41,000 contract. Again 4/1= April first.

Sorry guys, I didn't mean any harm.

I totally disagree with you here. He could come back from a leg stabbing. I saw add chainsaw and leg now gone and we have an agreeable situation.

I'll admit dude, you had me scared

Scrooge McSuck - April 2, 2007 12:46 PM (GMT)
It would've been a good rib if it wasn't centered around serious injury/death. Tell whoever that came up with this "joke" to kiss my ass after I have explosive diarrhea.

SamoaRowe - April 2, 2007 04:08 PM (GMT)
I'm not angry about this, probably because I didn't see it until today, but the one about Russo being fired was about 1,000x funnier, more so because it was teasing something that most of us would like to happen.

prof_plague - April 2, 2007 10:34 PM (GMT)
The Russo one was more believable.
