Title: Gaiman's Eternals

The Last Free Voice - March 27, 2007 05:02 AM (GMT)
So, the other day I was at comic town picking up my copy of the first Invisibles trade they back-ordered for me, and I saw that they had all seven issues of Eternals in stock. Being a huge Gaiman fanboy, I bought it and read it all in one go. I was quite impressed. I had never read any of the Eternals before at all, and in fact, didn't have a clue about them in the slightest.

So, anyone else read it? Opinions? And also, is this going to become an ongoing? I thought I'd read somewhere it was... but that probably means Gaiman's not going to be at the helm?

I liked the first issue...but forgot to look for subsequent issues.

Yeah, I know I'm not offering creative feedback, but I just wanted to say "hey kids, LFV is back!!"

First issue was great. Rest were dogshit. I suspect it will read ok in trade though.

Most of Gaiman's work reads better in a trade, really. I've read the first three, but I haven't had the cash to get any books since. I did like what I've read

I read them all straight through and thought it worked well. It didn't feel particularly disjointed or anything. What didn't you like about 2-7, Dave?

Well, start with the fact that it was seven issues (four would have made the point), it turning out to be "one of the Eternals turned evil". a Civil War tie in shoehorned in, and it just seemed...pointless, really.

Ah. I don't follow Marvel at all, so I quite liked it. Pointless was more or less exactly what I was looking for. A nice, self-contained story.
