Title: Where to go after Mania?
dynamite kido - March 13, 2007 07:50 PM (GMT)
The other day I was talking to a couple of fellow wrestling fans and we were talking about how the WWE usually steps it up around Wrestlemania only for it to decline shortly after. So then we started talking about what they should do after Mania to make sure that doesn't happen. So what do you guys think?
Here's some stuff I was thinking of:
First off, Cena needs to move on with feuding with HBK immediately after Mania. They already need to kill of those two with the tag titles and I'm thinking that this is just going to continue after Mania. I'm not saying that they won't have good matches, I'm just saying that it's not going to be the feud that it should be. Personally I'd love to see them feuding with HBK as the heel, but I doubt that would happen.
Who ever loses the Lashley/Umaga match needs to be taken care of immediately after Mania as well. I'm thinking it's going to be Umaga here as Lashley is probably higher up on the "build" scale right now than Batista is. A good start would be having Umaga start building up the IC as an important title again.
There needs to be some shifting of the rosters. Personally I'd like to see Edge/HBK moved to SD and Undertaker/Benoit moved to RAW.

Personally, the shows usually still feel good in my eyes after 'Mania, heading into Backlash, Judgment Day, and the June pay-per-view(s). It isn't until the summer when it feels like everything falls to shit, for whatever reason. The build to Summerslam usually doesn't come across right to me, and the post Summerslam months are the real testing pattern.

Don't forget the next wave of releases usually comes after WrestleMania, to make froom for OVW/DSW call-ups.

Yay! More dudes that aren't ready for TV!!!!!

And it gives WWE a chance to fire horrible workers. Like Jamie Noble. :P

Generally the RAW after Mania has at least 3 rematches from Mania. I would love to just fantasy book a re-shuffle, but honestly, I've lost hope. I'd still like for them to end the brand extension (which isn't gonna happen) and keep shuffling the match-ups better.

.....or to fire guys that you didn't even know were still with the company.

Ending the brand split, without a B-Show, is horrible. They have roughly 65 male wrestlers, and only 2 shows if you figure ECW ends by June. It also means I have to look at Trips and HBK on two shows every week again.

Who said anything about ending the brand split?

| WMD just did. |
Oops. I missed it.
...and it's never going to happen. But if it did they would have an excellent roster to choose from, but too many upper level guys.
Scrooge McSuck - March 14, 2007 03:25 PM (GMT)
The roster would be impressive, but they'd have to release 30-odd guys, and guess who wins with that decision?
Hint T-_-A

I'd like to solve the puzzle, Pat.

What is your answer, for the win...

The brand split is pretty much over. They've just done it without saying "The brand split is over", and without renaming or rethinking the concepts. We've had so much crisscrossing and jumping, and reportedly all of the PPVs are now going to be multi-brand and crossbooked to hell.
And frankly, the product has been better because of it.

Ahem........"Nobody because TNA can't win anything at all with Vince Russo booking a one hour show"?
Scrooge McSuck - March 14, 2007 07:46 PM (GMT)
You are the winnah! (hands The Doc' season tickets for the 2007-08 Knicks games)
TehDoct0r - March 14, 2007 07:48 PM (GMT)
They suck, but I'd love that prize!
Scrooge McSuck - March 14, 2007 07:48 PM (GMT)
They don't suck, they're in 8th place. :P
TehDoct0r - March 14, 2007 07:51 PM (GMT)
And still under 500. I love the fact that they'll make the playoffs, but it won't last more than 5 games.

Anything can happen in the NBA's Least Conference.
dynamite kido - March 14, 2007 08:17 PM (GMT)
You say something bad about the Knicks around here......you may never say anything ever again.
Scrooge McSuck - March 14, 2007 08:18 PM (GMT)
I'm a Knicks fan, but even I know they kinda stink.

But you're a Knicks fan, so it's fine.
Plus, they've come along. They have no right even being able to say that they are in the playoff hunt right now.
TehDoct0r - March 14, 2007 09:33 PM (GMT)
That's extremely true. It's all because Carmelo Anthony turned out to be a pussy.
