Title: Cell-a-phone advice

So I'm thinking' about coming out of the Stone Age and gettin' me one of them cell-a-phones. I'm looking at a T-Mobil pre-paid thing, since I have no friends and don't get many calls.

Anyways, is there some essential feature that I should shop for? Found one for 50 bucks, with a hands-free attachment, video capture & playback, camera (no zoom), IM & text and a web browser. Plus, other phone crap like an address book, messaging, etc. I suppose it has "ringtones", but I don't give a shit about that (well, maybe if I can get it to play "My Humps").

But is there something I'm overlooking? Do some phones have USB connectors to hook into your computer or anything nifty like that?

The handless attachment is nice. Otherwise I just want a phone when I buy one. No camera, no mp3 player, no net access. If I want that I'll buy a camera or an mp3 player.

I'd read up a bit online if I were you. See how stable the connections are and such. My phone is fairly good accept for the fact that the only place in the friggin country it doesn't work is my bedroom. Fucked up isn't it?

Yeah, and that service will vary majorly by area, so you'll have to ask around. If you just need a phone for the occasional 2 minute informational call or emergency, prepaid is the way to go.

Yeah, I looked at T-Mobil's coverage map and while it's not perfect, it should work. Most of their coverage is centered up and down I-25, which is where I spend most of my time. I really just want a phone so I can call people and change plans, coordinate where to meet, ask for directions, etc.

Almost like a walkie talkie. I was dating some broad back in the fall and I ended up wandering aimlessly around her condo complex one night, because she gave me shitty directions and I had no way to contact her.

Also will come in handy when I'm on vacation. I've been using those pre-paid phone cards for travelling, but you lose a big chunk of money when you use the card from a payphone.

Yeah, that's how I use ine and it has been perfect. I'm on Net 10, and have had no complaints for the past 3 years.
