Title: Help Uncle Tempest Out.....

Tempest - March 4, 2007 07:37 AM (GMT)
Can someone give me a full list of people who have only ever competed in one Royal Rumble match?

Just the 30-man match itself, not on a Royal Rumble card.

I've got a list, but I think I'm missing a few.

Off the top of my head, I can contribute Doug Glibert (1996), Junkyard Dog (1988), Butch Reed (1988), Ronnie Garvin (1989) and Saba Simba (1991) to this.

Oh yeah,...and that Tough Enough guy who was in the 2005 Rumble. Daniel Puder?

Also, are you sure it was the Samoan Swat Team? I think you might be confusing them with the "Squat Team"-- two identical tubby guys who were in the 1996 Rumble.

Tempest - March 4, 2007 08:07 AM (GMT)
I had Simba and Puder in there somewhere, ES, but thanks.

I handn't thought of JYD, Butch, or Garvin.

Obsessed With Wrestling had them listed under the "SWAT Team", I'm pretty sure.

If you're counting this year, you could kick in MVP, Kenny Dykstra, Sabu, CM Punk, Sandman, Kevin Thorne, The Miz, Great Khali.

Maybe Dreamer, although I can't be bothered to check the history books on him.

Dreamer was in 2003.

Actually, I'm looking at guys who aren't employed any more. If I say Thorne for example I could still wind up being wrong.

Drew Carey? Chris Nowinski? Lance Storm?

Did Maven do more than 1?

Yeah, Maven elimintated Undertaker in 2002 and did little to nothing in 2003.

Tempest - March 4, 2007 08:22 AM (GMT)
I just thought of two more; Bill Goldberg and Brock Lesnar.

jamiegeist - March 4, 2007 08:23 AM (GMT)
I think last year was Eugene's only rumble.

eStragand - March 4, 2007 08:25 AM (GMT)
They were the "Squat Team". Goofy name.. but it fit them. Obsessed with Some Wrestling is wrong.

I think they were also known as the "Headhunters" or "Arabian Butchers" at different times. I remember Cornette introduced them once on RAW, circa 1998.

Sorry about Puder and Simba... my text search failed me. I'm not big on current Rumbles, but whattabout Paul London?

Red Rooster was in the 1990 match, but he returned as "Terry Taylor" in the 1993 match.

More from 1988:
"Young" Sam Houston
Hillbilly Jim
Boris Zhukov
One Man Gang (although it's a technicality, since he did another as "Akeem")
Harley Race
B. Brian Blair
Jim Brunzell

1989:
Arn Anderson
Tully Blanchard
Big John Studd

1990:
Dusty Rhodes

1991:
Paul Roma
Tugboat (again, a technicality, since he did another as "Typhoon")

1994:
Rick Steiner
Not sure about Scott... did he return to the Rumble in his "Big Poppa Pump" days, circa 2003?

Edit: I listed Backlund for 1993...that was wrong.

Edit: I listed Backlund for 1993...that was wrong.

He was in it in 2000 as well as '93.

By the way, if a person played a different gimmick but were in a Rumble in another gimmick I don't count it. Like I wouldn't count Dr. Issac Yankem because he's been in Rumbles as Kane and "Razor Ramon".

prof_plague - March 4, 2007 08:35 AM (GMT)
What about Vince McMahon? Was Chyna ever in the Rumble match? And what about TAKA and Paul London?

Not Razor Ramon, do you mean Fake Diesel?

Howabout Kurrgan. Think 1998 was his only Rumble.

Wikipedia actually has a good listing of all the Rumble entrants.

Start HERE and work your way forward. Use those little text links at the bottom.

Should be a pretty interesting list when it's all finished.

jamiegeist - March 4, 2007 08:39 AM (GMT)
Chyna had 2, and yeah Wiki was the best source, hands down.

Grouped in a nice little table. Thats easy shit to navigate. A quick pad of paper and some marks, and that list could be complete in no time.

Kurrgan was in in 1999. He brawled a bit with Roadddog, Goldust and Al Snow before he got dumped by Kane.

Got another one for ya'... howabout Don "The Rock" Muraco?

Yeah, I'm being a stinker with my 1988 trivia!

And ya' still haven't added Big John Studd to your list?! Boooo! He only won the only Rumble match he was ever in. (heyyyy..that may be worth noting).

And take "Red Rooster" off your list. He did double duty as "Terrific Terry Taylor" in 1993. Also remove "Papa Shango", since he did at least one more Rumble as "Kama".

Scrooge McSuck - March 5, 2007 03:16 PM (GMT)
I count multiple gimmicks as the same person, so Shango, who competed in about 5 as the Godfather, 1 as Kama, and 1 as Shango.
