Title: The Up and Comers....
Description: your thoughts?

I was just wondering what everyone thought of the guys on the WWE rosters that are generally "up and coming".

RAW

Nitro - He has a good look, and if he can ever get his ass of the ground doing promos he's going to be a major player at one point in the company.

Carlito - I thought Lito has been getting better and better over the last year. It was nice to see him get a run as a face too. He's much better in the face role if you ask me. Plus, he's got the moveset for it. I would say for the future, he has the best chance of being something special.....at least out of the ones I named.

Umaga - Basically the lead heel on the RAW program for the last month or so. Good in the ring, good character, decent promos (although through a manager). He has a tough gimmick to maintain, but he's money unless they fuck him up.

Smackdown

Kennedy - Easily the best of the SD bunch. After watching SD this past week, I've come to a conclusion. Push him to the top, the guy would be an excellent heel champion.

Miz - Garbage. Cut him. He may be the worst worker in the entire company.

MVP - Only time will tell on him, but the main problem here is the gimmick. It sucks, and it's only going to hold him back.....unless they find something interesting to do with his gimmick, which I highly doubt.

ECW

Punk - Overall the guy that should be leading the ECW charge. Although he has a lack of followers backstage which could end up in him doing nothing or eventually getting cut.

Striker - Solid worker. Nothing special, probably too small to ever work on top, and is a decent talker. I could see him as a really good mouthpiece for a tag team, or just being a mid level heel.

Lashley - I know he already has the ECW title, but he's far from where he should be. I say make him heel and give him a manager. They could do great things with him if this were the case.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

I would definitely replace Carlito with Kenny Dykstra if you're doing a kind of "top 3 young guys" approach here. Kenny has shown some serious potential, and it quickly blossoming into a star.

I was just doing a random look. Dykstra is fine, but I wouldn't put him anywhere near Carlito as far as up and coming goes. I think Dykstra needs some fine tuning......and I fucking hate refering to him as "Dykstra".

I do too, but this is also coming from the guy that thought calling Rocky Maivia "The Rock" was fucking stupid.

Yeah, I managed to last about 2 or 3 months on that quest.

I'm quite pleased that there seems to be a "next generation" in WWE again, as I didn't see any standouts throughout most of 2005-2006.

Raw:

Nitro has the best shot at making it big as a main eventer down the road and has been kept strong by being involved in numerous feuds.

Carlito is someone I have soured on recently. They need to do something with him soon, as he has been floundering around with no direction for several months now.

Shelton Benjamin is suffering from the same booking that killed Test in the late 90's, early 2000's, where he keeps getting pushed for a while but then the push is killed for whatever reason and he does nothing until creative decides to try again. He hasn't felt like a potential big star since his first Intercontinental title run ended, but I still have hope.

Jeff Hardy, which is a surprise for me to bring up in the year 2007. He's been showing me a lot lately.

Kenny Dykstra is intended to reach main event level by the creative team. He has impressed me several times in the past year, so I welcome his eventual push.

Smackdown:

I was slow to warm up to MVP, but the guy has the type of natural charisma that is key for top level heels. He is adequate in the ring too, he could go places.

Mr. Kennedy should be a World Champion within the next two years.

Gregory Helms has impressed me numerous times over the past year. I would like to see him pushed past the Cruiserweight title level when (or if) his title run ends.

There is something about The Miz that I like. I know the guy still sucks in the ring, but I can't help but feel that he is going to surprise everyone in the future. If it is possible for smarks to jump on Mark Henry and Khali bandwagons, I don't see why Miz couldn't improve either.

ECW:

This roster has been trimmed down so much that all the young, up and comers feel like they could be the next to rise. CM Punk should be one of the next big stars of the WWE, if they ever decide to let him.

RAW

Nitro - Decent, but not by himself. I thought MNM was money. If the can keep Mercury off dope, they can be a top tag-team, but I would never put Nitro higher than mid-card.

Carlito - I think Carlito has potential to be a star, but his in-ring work is lacking for me. I need to see some passion from him. Maybe this new deal with Flair will help.

Umaga - He's good. I got no problem with his performance at all. The character is limited, though, so without a character change, I don't see much for him long term.

Smackdown

Kennedy - He's good. Good talker, solid worker.

Miz - I use to have hope for him. No longer. He sucks.

MVP - I honestly have only seen him a few times, but saw nothing special. I won't say he's bad, because I didn't see that either, just kind of blah.

ECW

Punk - I've never been big on Punk myself, but the guy has a nack for getting over. Seems like it'd be easy to make him a star, but it also seems like he'll never get that chance.

Striker - My favorite of the bunch. Good promo, solid worker. A little small, but this is the "wellness era". I'd like to see him pushed without too much emphasis on the teacher gimmick.

Lashley - Pretty bad, in my opinion. He can't promo, and his offense looks weak. He's got a good enough look that given the right circumstances, he could succeed, but it won't be due to his own innate charisma.
