Bam Bam Bigelow passes away

WWE.com has learned that former WWE Superstar Scott "Bam Bam" Bigelow has passed away in Florida.

Kevin Doll, the Public Information Director for the Pasco County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Bigelow was found dead early this morning in his home in Hudson, Fla.

"We can confirm that Scott Bigelow was found in his home this morning. At this time the cause of death is unknown," Doll told WWE.com.

Doll also confirmed that the Pasco-Pinellas Counties medical examiner has taken the body and an autopsy will be performed.

Bigelow, 45, worked for WWE, ECW and WCW extensively throughout his 20-year sports-entertainment career. A former ECW Champion, ECW Television Champion and WCW Tag Team Champion, he is perhaps best known for his rivalry with Lawrence Taylor that culminated in the main event of WrestleMania XI in 1995.

Stay tuned to WWE.com as more on Bigelow's passing becomes available.

Wow, he's gone through a lot in the last few years.

RIP. One of the better big men of all time.

dynamite kido - January 19, 2007 09:11 PM (GMT)
RIP Bammer.

The only time I got to see him wrestle was when he lost the ECW title to Douglas at November to Remember 97.....and he worked his ass off.

Thanks for the memories brother....

Scrooge McSuck - January 19, 2007 09:14 PM (GMT)
Best big man wrestler besides Vader, easily.

whitemilesdavis - January 19, 2007 09:15 PM (GMT)
Hmm.

Well he was good anyway, probably not the place to debate hystorical significance.

eStragand - January 19, 2007 09:24 PM (GMT)
Aw, man. That's sad.

"this man has flames on his head, brother!"

Billy Graham the Broadcaster was always good for a laugh....

Not for being funny, just for being stupid.

SamoaRowe - January 19, 2007 11:49 PM (GMT)
Ah shit, that's horrible :(

RIP, big man.

There is a name I was not expecting, but I honestly am not surprised by.

I think sometimes it's the guys that aren't on top at the time that make you think more about the memories and how much they were appreciated as wrestlers, even if you didn't realize it at the time. Wrestlers like Bam Bam Bigelow and Big Bubba.

Dave Meltzer reports that the autopsy results have come in on Bam Bam Bigelow. His death was due to multiple drugs in his system, cocaine and benzodiazetine (an anti-anxiety drug) at lethal levels. His was also suffering from heart disease.

Terribly sad, although sadly not surprising.

What the fuck is so appealing about cocaine.

Escaping from your regular life.

That's all I can come up with.

Honestly, I would NEVER do Coke.

I only like to smoke weed very occasionally, and thats usually only socially when I'm drinking as well. The thought of someone just plopping down a tray of lines of coke? That isn't even realistic to me, and I'd never do it.

I'm the same exact way personally. I won't even hang out with people that do it or somewhere it's being done at.

It's just the same though with all forms of drugs or alcohol.

People's lives get to the point where they use substances to escape them from time to time. Unfortunately people do it WAY too much.

TehDoct0r - March 3, 2007 07:37 PM (GMT)
I stay away from coke as much as possible, but it's really pretty visible where I come from. None of my close circle of friends do it, but I've had a friend or two blow down on occasion. Makes me sad.

Coke does seem uber popular in the wrestling world, specifically late 80s early 90s guys. It's weird. Hogan, Piper, Warrior, Snuka. Those guys seem obvious. Michaels, Hall, Nash, Waltman. Those are some more gimmes. Rock, Edge, Cena, Kennedy? Not so much.

Although I could totally see Orton blowing some lines.

SamoaRowe - March 3, 2007 07:41 PM (GMT)
We know Orton enjoys pot as much as RVD does, so who knows.

Yeah. It's always these celebrities who are down on their luck and feeling sorry for themselves that do the shit, too. It sucks.

My one experience around cocaine was at a house party with some guys I had met in college first semester. Happened to walk in the house and some guys (not my friends) were doing lines, and all I could think was "wow, that stuff is right there in front of me". Needless to say, we left almost immediately, not only because the shit is stupid, but because if you get caught with that shit you are fucked up the ass.

I think we went back to one of their places, got drunk, and watched Blow :D
