:o

All that build-up going into the K Fed/Cena match, and we get Umaga. It makes sense, but I guess I was expecting a little more.

Kevin Federline defeated WWE World Champion John Cena.

I don't care how the match was booked, that is one ugly result.

Scrooge McSuck - January 2, 2007 09:02 PM (GMT)
Blech...

What the fuck is up with J.R. calling "Kenny" by his "full name" every 5 seconds? And is it me, or does anyone else get the feeling someone read the name "Lenny Dykstra" and thought it would be "creative" to use that last name for Kenny?

eStragand - January 2, 2007 09:45 PM (GMT)
Coming soon, the re-debut of another former Spirit Squad superstar! Now re-packaged as...

Nicky Henderson

They're also rumored to be re-packaging "Johnny" as "Jon Mattingly".

Scrooge McSuck - January 2, 2007 10:26 PM (GMT)
How about "Mikey Mantle"?

SamoaRowe - January 2, 2007 11:08 PM (GMT)
I can't tell if ES is joking or not.

I guess Kenny Dykstra isn't so bad now that I've had enough time to absorb the name change, but Nicky Henderson just sounds generic. He was already on television as Nick Nemeth, so it shouldn't be worth changing or anything, I doubt most fans remember that he was Kerwin White's caddie.

Mad Dog - January 2, 2007 11:57 PM (GMT)
I can't believe they actually put K-Fed over in that match. Did they learn nothing from WCW. As bad as the Arquette thing was K-Fed is no Arquette.

Scrooge McSuck - January 3, 2007 12:36 AM (GMT)
Rowe obviously doesn't get the joke.

Lenny Dykstra, Rickey Henderson, Don Mattingly, and Mickey Mantle are all very famous baseball names. With Kenny's last name being "Dykstra", the joke is that for all the SS members, their last names would be that of someone who has a first name almost resembling their own.

whitemilesdavis - January 3, 2007 01:20 AM (GMT)
The K-Fed thing was actually handled really well. The guy is a natural when it comes to building heat. Cena isn't hurt at all by the loss, K-fed got zero offense on him.

jamiegeist - January 3, 2007 02:34 AM (GMT)
I had the same thought on Dykstra. And moreso, it just pissies me off, cause Doane is just a better name. Dykstra sounds cartoonish and lame. I mean, during Kenny's promo last night, when he said "me, Kenny Dykstra", it just destroyed the whole thing for me.

And the worst part might be that I know the "My real last name isn't even Dykstra" promo is coming for sure in the next year or so, as part of his big "gimmick change" where he changes his ways and starts winning (see Benjamin, Shelton...Conway, Rob...and countless others when the E decides to give them "direction").

Scrooge McSuck - January 3, 2007 02:37 AM (GMT)
I'd rather they just fire him. WWE has plenty of talented wrestlers being used incorrectly without pushing some other jackass no one cares about.

Speaking of wasted talent, how long will Benjamin feud with Charlie Haas, and will it be on something other than Internet Heat?

Scrooge McSuck - January 3, 2007 03:42 AM (GMT)
"Nice finish" for Thorn/Balls. If that was a work, at least Balls took a shot that looked good enough.

BTW, what's up with the Armstrongs in WWECW all of a sudden?

S.T. Strickler - January 3, 2007 04:06 AM (GMT)
Ariel was smokin' hot again tonight, and that was a bit of a brutal shot Balls took to the mouth. Looks like RVD might've messed up his knee or something on that spot at the end.

I don't mind K Fed going over, actually. I figured if he were going over, it'd be Lawler/Kaufman style.

No, Scrooge, I got the joke, what I meant was that the WWE creative team are in such a state that I could very easily see them actually doing that. I'll admit, "Mantle" gave it away more than "Henderson" did.

Scrooge McSuck - January 3, 2007 03:23 PM (GMT)
Oh, good... wait. YOU DIDN'T GET HENDERSON?!?! We only name drop him every chance we get. :)

Big F'N Swigg - January 3, 2007 03:54 PM (GMT)
You mean Rickey Henderson, the baseball player who steals bases like Scrooge steals the innocence of small children?

Scrooge McSuck - January 3, 2007 04:55 PM (GMT)
... That's not funny Swigg!!!!

Big F'N Swigg - January 3, 2007 05:08 PM (GMT)

Um, you do? In the sports folder, or in the regular forums and I should feel sheepish for not catching on?

Sheesh... any examples?

Scrooge McSuck - January 3, 2007 07:33 PM (GMT)
??? Ask ES, he's responsible for about 80% of the references. Your best bet is probably sports, nhb/hardcore/whatever, general, etc. It only comes up every so often in the rasslin' folders... except for the most recent in this topic, of course.

eStragand - January 3, 2007 07:49 PM (GMT)
Check out the "Merry Christmas You Hosebags" threads for some recent Rickey.

I forget exactly HOW it started...but you always gain Cool Points if you can relate your topic to Rickey Henderson. He's sorta' like the patron saint/mascot around here. I think Scrooge was rambling one day and kept bringing up Rickey. Me being a smarty pants know-it-all, I started one-upping him by mentioning Rickey whenever I could.

"oooo..Rickey ready, today. Rickey done broke many of his bats off of Al Leiter. Rickey ready!"

SamoaRowe - January 3, 2007 08:06 PM (GMT)
Okay, good to know. With that out of the way... Raw was... something... eh.

I was turned off by the handicap match main event and turned it off in favor of catching a few ZZZZZs.

Scrooge McSuck - January 3, 2007 11:45 PM (GMT)
I think I'll put a picture of Rickey in my signature, since I am responsible (sort of?) for the habit.

Speaking of habits, what was up with Rickey Henderson going to Oakland like 5 times? From Oakland, to New York, to Oakland, to Toronto, to San Diego, to Oakland, to New York, to Oakland to Boston to Seattle to Oakland... MAKE UP YOUR DAMN MIND!

Big F'N Swigg - January 4, 2007 02:40 AM (GMT)
That's Oakland for you

Big F'N Swigg - January 9, 2007 04:02 AM (GMT)
So the Cena promo and the Rated RKO promo were fairly good, but the rest of RAW sucked balls. Especially the "Donald-Rosie" match

S.T. Strickler - January 9, 2007 04:07 AM (GMT)
That "Donald-Rosie" match was pretty bad, to say the least. TNA chants and everything... And I still can't understand a word The Great Khali says.

Big F'N Swigg - January 9, 2007 04:10 AM (GMT)
The Donald-Rosie match sucked especially hard knowing that anyone who would have tuned in for it would turn it off the second that the fake Rosie was revealed.

SamoaRowe - January 9, 2007 04:11 AM (GMT)
Wow, I hope no one out there is praising this show. I got home around 10:30 and turned Raw on, only to see the ad for the night's main event. My thought was "What the FUCK is Khali doing on Raw?"

So much for Khali challenging Lashley for the ECW title at Wrestlemania, eh? I bet he challenges Cena instead now...

eStragand - January 9, 2007 05:53 AM (GMT)
Between consciousness and the BCS game, I was thinking:

-I like how big guys always have their HEIGHT announced, in addition to their weight. This wouldn't work for some guys. Fer' instance: "and his opponent.. from Union City, Tennessee. Weighing 245 pounds and at over FIVE FEET TALL... Koko B. Ware"!

-The Apter mags used to slam the WWF and jokingly predict the next WrestleMania card. Stuff like "Siskel vs. Ebert", "Scooby Doo vs. Marmaduke", etc. Donald vs. Rosie is right in that category. Eddie Ellner would've gone ballistic.

-Was "Donald" actually Mitch Garner? Aka, the guy MVP fought at No Mercy (just watched the first half of that card today and thought that was a strange coincedence).

-I like how JR was trying to sell the boo-birds and boring chants as "this crowd is unhappy with Rosie".

-The red top thingie absolutely works for Victoria.

-Dig that loser behind the announcers' table. He had a plastic pail labelled "Diva Drool Bucket" and later had a horizontal size that said "Umaga's Streak", and he'd break it half. Holy crap...they let marks like that out in public, alone, after dark?

SamoaRowe - January 9, 2007 06:01 AM (GMT)
So WWE pulls Khali from Summerslam because they didn't trust him to not stink up the ring on live television and now he's on Raw? Did Khali undergo some miraculous transformation over the past five months or what?

SamoaRowe - January 9, 2007 06:05 AM (GMT)
On a side note, it turns out that was Ace Steel playing Trump tonight.

jamiegeist - January 9, 2007 06:41 AM (GMT)
Which makes me even more sad.

My first thought was, dude Triple H gets hurt and they scramble so bad that they fuck themselves and don't realize it.

Scrooge McSuck - January 11, 2007 02:15 PM (GMT)
Khali on Raw? Another reason not to watch.
