B: Straight Edge isn't some dogmatic thing to tell me what I can or can't do. It's a way to describe choices I make regarding drugs and alcohol. I could care less what other people do with their bodies.

Yeah, straight edge doesn't necessarily mean "no sex" though some people include that as part of it.

I don't go around saying I'm straight edge much anymore. Far too many negative connotations. It's easier to say I choose not to drink.

Yeah, I know what you mean, LFV. I don't consider myself to be straight edge or anything, I just don't do drugs because I don't want to. I don't exclude myself from alcohol, I just don't want to do drugs. Just me.

In not really-news-news, I now drink alchohol socially, on occasion. Mostly because I'm a self-concious idiot around people I don't know, and it helps a bit.

When you're 17, it's pretty easy to say "straight edge"... since it's tough, at that age, to even get alcohol or drugs. Sorta' like a 14 year old bragging about his perfect driving record.

Being underage, broke, low number of friends... all that can help, too!

Yeah, I grew up. I mean, for the last year or so I hadn't even been claiming straight edge, just "no, I don't drink." or whatever.

I still have tonnes of respect for the straight edge lifestyle and the people who adhere to it, it's just not for me.

This whole thing did present me with a problem I wasn't anticipating. I have no clue what I'm going to do with my "Straight Edge" shirts.
