Title: Rocky Balboa

Should I be ashamed that I want to see this? A big screen re-release of the original "Rocky" would have done just as much business.
But more importantly, can I hope that the DVD release will have an deleted scene where an aging Rocky asks an aging Thunderlips for advice?
I'm really tempted to buy that new "Rocky" 2-disc DVD. "Take her to the zoo. Retards like the zoo!"

I would say that you should be ashamed to see this.
It's the same rehash of the Rocky storyline over and over.
Although I would agree that a re-release of the original would be badass.

Waitasec..the HW champ is named "Mason Dixon"?!?! Umm..pretty sure that was the name of the hero in "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes".
Now if they can write-in a scene for a "master of disguise" and Thunderlips, this will be the Greatest Movie Ever.

50% of me wants to like Rocky Balboa, but the other 50% says it's going to be even worse than Rocky V, if that's even possible.

I'm stoked for it. Don't ask me why.

You have a coupon for free popcorn if you buy a ticket for it, don't you?
Big F'N Swigg - December 13, 2006 03:39 PM (GMT)
And free Sour Patch Kids too!

Sweet deal, I'd be psyched too! I hear you get a free drink too if you stay for the entire film.
The preview for the movie look decent enough, but all the sample dialogue is terribly cliche.

Admittedly, the plot looks incredibly weak. Rock's whole comeback is inspired by an ESPN video game simulation... that's frickin' retarded.
But, I'll be in line cuz' I'm a Rocky mark, not because "Rocky Balboa" looks like a good movie.
TNT used to show "Rocky" alot.... it'd be nice if they bring it back before the new movie comes out. Same way Starz was showing the old "Superman" movies as primers, back in June.

The plot also has a lot to do with his wife dying

And don't forget the plot centered around Mason Dixon.

Finally saw it tonight. As expected it's a total nostalgia trip, right down to the Chuck Taylors and grey sweats.
As a standalone movie, it's not very good. But as a capper to the entire Rocky franchise, it's very satisfying. If you've seen and enjoyed the Rocky movies, then you'll probably like this. It emulates the spirit of the first two films, not the goofy overdone feel of the last three.
Stallone doesn't capture the early dumbness of Rocky as well as he did in the 70's. Sometime between Rocky II & III, the character apparently got a brain transplant and wasn't the simpleton from South Philly. That's probably some of Stallone's ego seeping in.
Yeah, I wasn't too sold on the computer-simulation as a Big Event, either. It's something ESPN would show at 2am on ESPN Classic-- not something they'd show at prime time that would have everybody in Philly cheering the TV in the local pub.
I also found it hilarious that I have wayyy more grey hairs at age 32 than Rocky does at age 50-something.

I'm sure Paulie would be a good challenger for that. :P

I saw it, and it was great. Not the best movie ever, but definitely worth watching. It's a great wrap up to the series
