Title: Big Bubba Rogers
Description: underrated?

I was just thinking about this the other night because well I have insomnia and I think about a lot of dumb crap while I'm staring at the ceiling waiting for sleep every night.

He seems to never get credit as an above average worker despite his run from the 80s to the mid 90s. Sure he sucked after that but let's just look at his early years. His entire series with Vader in WCW was brillant for the size of the two workers. He drug a good match out of the Barbarian of all people in the WWF. He had good matches with Dibiase and Mr. Perfect during his WWF run. He made the One Man Gang appear to be watchable during the Twin Tower days as well. I also seem to remember a decent match with Bam Bam Bigelow during his last days with the WWF.

So underrated or not?

I give Bossman/Bubba Rogers credit for being one of the more talented big men wrestlers in recent history. But yes, some people think because you're a heavy set wrestler you automatically suck.

I actually think he got worse as he lost weight. No real basis for that it just seems he got worse as he got smaller.

I wouldn't say that... OK, that's a lie. From 1995-on he really didn't have many stand out matches, maybe because he lost the impressive big man persona he once carried with him.

I think that was a huge problem with him. He was wrestling like he weighed 320 lbs. when he was only 240. It really made him look like a bad wrestler during his last WWF run. For some odd reason he didn't seem to have that problem during his final WCW days.

Man, Barbarian was fucking awesome. His singles stuff was what it was, but the Faces of Fear are amongst the most criminally underrated teams ever, and it goes back to the whole "hosses can't be good" argument. Go back and watch some of the tag matches Barbarian and Meng had on WCW PPVs, there's some serious hidden gems in there. And yeah, Bubba was great, too.

Well, I would have to agree that for a worker of his size....he was incredibly underrated. He never needed a title to stay over and was generally thought of as a big deal the whole time he was in the WWF when he wasn't in the main event picture. Plus, I'll always pimp one of my hidden gems as Bossman/Hogan cage is probably the greatest (blue) cage match of all time except for Bret/Owen at Summerslam 94.....unless there is something I'm forgetting. Plus, he was always over in the NWA as a worker as he played his gimmick incredibly well.

Plus, I would actually agree with Peter that the Faces of Fear were underrated as a team and Barbarian and Meng were better workers in singles than they ever were given credit for. I would say that Barbarian in the WWF in the early 90's put on some pretty good singles matches with Bossman as well.......

To this day I still love the ole Bossman. One of my alltime favorite midcarders. He did some really cool stuff in the 80s and 90s but for some reason, I really loved his fued with the Big Show. He could finally talk real trash and swear since it was in the WWF's extreme days. Some people might have thought it was in bad taste but some of the funniest lines the Bossman ever uttered were during this time

"So..maam, what you are saying is your son is a bastard. You see that red light out of that window? You just told millions of people that your son is a nasty bastard. HEY BIG FREAK SHOW! You're a nasty bastard, and YOUR MOMMA SAID SO!"

I laughed so hard at that.

Thanks for starting this thread and voicing my very opinion. I don't have to much to add on the subject of BBM.

However, OLD SCHOOL HAKU rocks all socks. If he's good enough for Harley Race, he should be good enough to rule your world.

Old school Haku was pretty good. It's surprising to watch him because I tend to forget how capable he was of being a high flyer.
