WWE Raw Superstars, Cryme Tyme (Real names Shad Gaspard and Jayson Paul), were arrested at an autograph signing in Boston after staying in character and stealing wallets from people waiting in line.
They were apprehended by police officers after one of the victims made the call at approximately 4pm. After a lengthy discussion with the two superstars, police were able to give the wallets back to their owners. At this point, Cryme Tyme tried to leave the scene, believing it all to be a big misunderstanding. The first two police officers on the scene called for backup when Gaspard and Paul resisted arrest.
One eyewitness is reported to have said 'The man was straight trippin' if he thought Cryme Tyme was goin' downtown like that, playa'.
Other recent examples of superstars being told to remain in character in public are Eugene and Kane, who even kept kayfabe at the premiere of his movie 'See No Evil'.
It remains to be seen if WWE will review their policy on keeping kayfabe in public.
