Joe vs. Angle, MOTDC.

Real F'n Show - November 7, 2006 01:19 PM (GMT)
There's no way it's going to deliver on the level that everyone is expecting.

SamoaRowe - November 7, 2006 03:20 PM (GMT)
Angle/Joe is a dream match, for sure, and one that I would really like to see, but it's not going to be the all-time classic that many are predicting. Angle's health will ensure that.

Then again, I remember many people thought that Angle/HBK from WM21 was going to be disappointing, and most people pegged that one at ****3/4.

smkelly13 - November 7, 2006 06:07 PM (GMT)
Angle's health has been a non-issue for a while, that man will push through endless pain and agony to perform, we all know that. The man will not stop wrestling until he is either dead, dying, or wheel chair bound.

OFFICIAL LIVE TNA "GENESIS" PAY-PER-VIEW RESULTS
Sunday, November 19, 2006 – Orlando, FL
By: Marcus Cygy

One thing we never got a payoff on this past Thursday at the “iMPACT!” primetime debut was the big announcement from Eric Young. But as promised, Eric was going to let everyone in on his huge secret amongst the fans; however, Robert Roode rudely interrupted Eric just as many others did the same to Eric on Thursday.

PRESHOW:
THE ROBERT ROODE OPEN CHALLENGE
Robert Roode was ready to challenge anyone, even Eric Young. And he was never given a chance because Roode tossed Eric into the ring and demanded the bell to be rung. The fans showed their displeasure towards Robert Roode’s actions as they continued to show their loving support for Eric Young. However, as a professional athlete you are expected to not only win some, but lose some too. For Eric Young though, his belief is that a loss could cost him his job. Nonetheless, Robert Roode continued his winning ways with both feet on the ropes for leverage upon a distracting assist from Ms. Brooks, who was ringside.

Winner: Robert Roode

After gaining knowledge of the cheating tactic just performed by Robert Roode, referee Rudy Charles restarted the bout.

PRESHOW:
ROBERT ROODE vs. ERIC YOUNG
The restart of this match was the best thing that could have ever happened to Eric Young tonight because he was able to even up his record for the night. In great efforts, he rolled his former Team Canada ally Robert Roode up for the pin and received the win almost instantly when the match was restarted. Both competitors left tonight with an even record.

Winner: Eric Young

In impromptu fashion, Christian Cage then busted onto the scene and reiterated how wrestling AJ Styles tonight was complete utter crap. He felt as though he should rightfully be wrestling the NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Sting tonight instead of Abyss. AJ Styles, who took offense, appeared in trying to start their match now. Security thought otherwise and broke up the mayhem as the two stars get set to fight for the first time later tonight.

VOODOO KIN MAFIA (BG JAMES & KIP JAMES) vs. MAVERICK MATT, FRANKIE KAZARIAN, & JOHNNY DEVINE
BG James started the match off with Maverick Matt, but it became a mess once Johnny Devine and Kazarian jumped in on a 3-on-1 beatdown. Kip James was held back in his corner by referee Slick Johnson, while the chaos inflicted on BG was continued.

Collectively instating themselves as a part of “The Movement”, Kazarian, Maverick Matt, and Devine have taken a new step of sorts in the careers. They’ve been dressing in Raven-like fashion as of late and you can’t help but think they’ve affiliated themselves with Raven.

Once Kip James was finally tagged in, he was able to close the match off with a win against the fatigued Maverick Matt, with a double-arm underhook drop. Kazarian and Devine would suffer the same fate during their loss.

Winners: Voodoo Kin Mafia

After the match, BG James warned Vincent Kennedy McMahon that Thursday’s “iMPACT!” will be a very important time to tune in because he’ll be in for a surprise!

Our questions were answered once Raven was revealed to be the redeemer of the members of The Movement. He came down with a Singapore cane stick along with Maverick Matt and Kazarian. In the middle of the ring was Johnny Devine on his knees – a man who took multiple shots to the back for being responsible of their loss after being pinned. After conducting business, Raven left for the back as his men recollected themselves during this awkward moment that saw Devine leaving with welts and bruises on his back.

SONJAY DUTT & JAY LETHAL w/ JERRY LYNN vs. THE NATURALS (CHASE STEVENS & ANDY DOUGLAS) w/ SHANE DOUGLAS
After successfully defeating Team 3D at their own game this past Thurday on “iMPACT!” during a Tables Match, The Naturals were back at “Genesis” tonight to defeat Jerry Lynn’s students – Sonjay Dutt and Jay Lethal.

“The Franchise” Shane Douglas stayed ringside for a change, and that’s notably because of the continued success his Naturals have finally been earning. Early in the bout though, Chase and Andy were in trouble when they were sent to the floor by a collective suicide dive by Sonjay coincided by Lethal. They two X-Division stars continued to work on the former NWA World Tag Team Champions in the ring with quick tags in their corner.

With persistence of their recent wins, The Naturals were able to fend off any attempted wins by Sonjay Dutt and Jay Lethal, and in the end get the win. It was a physical grueling match – everything we expected from these talented stars.

Winners: The Naturals

TNA X-DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
“THE FALLEN ANGEL” CHRISTOPHER DANIELS © vs. CHRIS SABIN
The complete turnaround of cockiness and arrogance we have seen from Chris Sabin lately has put an all-new meaning to his matches. And for Christopher Daniels, the X-Division Champion, he wants to wipe Sabin aside and show why he is one of the greatest X-Division Champions in TNA history. With both having three reigns each, we were definitely in for a ride in watching two cornerstones of the X-Division fly through the six-sided ring in performing poetry in motion.

Starting out this contest was the testing of strengths between the two competitors. Sabin however jumpstarted the physical contest by getting in some cheap right handed punches, and that didn’t set too well with the fans when Sabin cuffed his ears to get a response. Once Daniels got any offense though, Sabin was quick to retreat out of the ring. Finally though, The Fallen Angel was able to maintain Sabin in the ring upon tormenting him with physical pain in swift Daniels fashion.

Chris Sabin then took the roll of long hauling his opponent to the mat. The 24-year old went on a streak of putting the champion down upon a series of near falls. He even delivered his signature hesitated drop kick, but Daniels wasn’t ready to give up. So Sabin brought in a steel chair, but still showing his true friendship to Daniels was AJ Styles who popped in to take away the steel chair; and that was the turning point.

“The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels rebounded with an overhead bull press from the corner, and now the momentum was in his corner as you could sense the level of confidence he had within. It looked as if Daniels had this one won with the crucifix drop pin – the exact same way he won the X-Division Title on “iMPACT!” but Sabin was able to kick out this time. In a matter of seconds though, Daniels was able to pin Sabin in another variation for the win.

Winner & STILL TNA X-Division Champion: Christopher Daniels

After the match, Jerry Lynn prevented Chris Sabin from getting in a cheap shot with a steel chair to the back of Daniels. Lynn had Sabin shake the champion’s hand, but just as Lynn turned his back, Sabin hit the Cradle Shock on Daniels. A distressed Jerry Lynn was left with nothing else to do but watch the cocky Sabin head to the back.

THE PAPARAZZI (ALEX SHELLEY & AUSTIN STARR) w/ KEVIN NASH vs. RON “THE TRUTH” KILLINGS & LANCE HOYT
Joining the commentary booth with Mike Tenay and Don West was Kevin Nash who announced a mandatory meeting for all the X-Division stars this Thursday on “iMPACT!” on Spike TV. In the ring though were his Paparazzi troops getting it on with Ron Killings and Lance Hoyt. Alex Shelley was having some troubles initially with The Truth, so he tagged in Austin Starr who was able to counter the offense against the battling Ron Killings. Once this happened, Lance Hoyt entered the ring for some double team action. Alex Shelley just stayed put in his corner waiting for the tag.

Kevin Nash stated that he wasn’t playing any favourites, he likes both Alex Shelley and Austin Starr evenly. But how can you believe Nash when he said the same thing for Shelley and former Paparazzi, Johnny Devine. Nevertheless, Alex Shelley was tagged back into the ring upon raking the eyes of Lance Hoyt and working on the legs. The Paparazzi then ensued the quick tag formula in showing great chemistry between the two – something they have lacked since joining forces by Nash’s command.

A defenseless Lance Hoyt later took a frogsplash to the knee after Austin Starr took out Ron Killings. A cocky Alex Shelley though demanded Austin to film him get this pin up close with the Paparazzi camera, but the momentary delay saw Hoyt his senses and roll Shelley up for the pin. Both Kevin Nash and Starr was extremely displeased with what had just occurred, as was Shelley of course. What can we expect to hear at Kevin Nash’s mandatory X-Division meeting this Thursday?

Winners: Ron Killings & Lance Hoyt

Backstage, Jeremy Borash questioned Christian Cage if he has made the mistake of focusing on being the number one contender. Cage stated it’s never wrong to focus on a feat, especially for him because he’s been undefeated in one on one competition just as Samoa Joe is. But the difference is that TNA management is holding Cage back when he is in fact the self-proclaimed to be the biggest star in this industry. He closed by saying that when he’s done with AJ Styles tonight he’ll be taking the NWA World Heavyweight Title back to where it belongs – around his waist.

CHRISTIAN CAGE vs. “THE PHENOMENAL” AJ STYLES
Since his arrival from the WWE to TNA one year ago, Christian Cage has picked up a reign as NWA World Heavyweight Champion. But since June 2006, he’s been absolutely focused on regaining the championship but so has AJ Styles. Thus we have Christian Cage and AJ Styles meeting one-on-one for the first time ever in TNA history!

Both combatants were sizing each other out in the early going, but the coy Christian Cage showed no remorse early on after losing the battle of technical strengths by closing it off with a slap to the face on AJ. The fans were at a split on supporting both competitors, due to the nature of both men and their influences on this business. Both are world-class athletes and this match was a prime example for that statement.

The ring awareness by both wrestlers is so immense, and as a result we saw a lot of countering and reversals during the bout. At one point, we saw Christian Cage land awkwardly within an inch away from his neck after flipping over Styles’ back with an attempted mock Styles Clash. Later, Cage would feel the wrath of cutting wind when AJ flip dived over the ring ropes onto him.

Both stars were able to adapt to each other’s styles, but AJ Styles was in apparent pain after taking a painful drop onto the guardrail earlier when Christian Cage countered a high-risk move that saw AJ left dazed. This left Styles off within a few seconds of his moves – to the point of even hitting the turnbuckle when Cage had in fact dodged an on-coming move early.

To no avail, AJ Styles was able to rebound and land Christian Cage with a hurricanrana from the top rope. A mid-ring chop fest was then issued between the two, as AJ Styles was able to get the better of it upon regaining his confidence. A picture perfect inverted DDT was quickly landed by AJ but Cage was able to kick out upon later tackling AJ down in the middle of the ring when both were sprinting for offense. Both then measured each other for their finishing moves but after frustration being shared by failed attempts on both sides, AJ halted the situation with a pelč on Christian Cage – this was wrestling action at its finest!

Christian Cage then brought in a steel chair to use, and just as AJ did earlier on, the X-Division Champion, Christopher Daniels came down in attempts to grab the steel chair out of Cage’s hands. It became a contest of pulling between Daniels and Cage as Styles attempted a sunset flip pin but Christian Cage instead dropped and planted a pin to steal a win.

Winner: Christian Cage

After the match, AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels were at a war of words that was apparently going to become physical. “The War Machine” Rhino then came down to try and talk some sense between the two and mutually shake hands. However, AJ Styles didn’t want any of it and said, “Thanks Dr. Phil! If I want a psychiatrist, I’ll know where to call you!” Styles then abruptly left the scene with Rhino and Daniels left in the ring.

NWA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
LAX (HOMICIDE & HERNANDEZ) © w/ KONNAN vs. AMERICA’S MOST WANTED (CHRIS HARRIS & JAMES STORM) w/ GAIL KIM
It was October 19, 2006 on an edition of “iMPACT!” where Gail Kim was severely injured by Hernandez after taking a Cracker Jack. But tonight Gail Kim is back and showing full support for her men – America’s Most Wanted.

Bodies flying all over the building was already the scene the moment the bell rang. The NWA World Tag Team Champions were being decimated early on by America’s Most Wanted – veterans of all out wars amongst the iMPACT Zone. Konnan’s militant thugs had to regroup and refocus on the task at hand – retaining the gold and burning the American flag afterwards.

Once order was instated in the match, Hernandez and Homicide were beating down Chris Harris with back and forth tags. We would see LAX in control all the way to the point of where the rested James Storm was tagged in. Taking Homicide down was one thing, but trying to dismantle Hernandez was a failed feat. Hernandez was able to overpower Chris Harris and James Storm and that became a concern for Gail Kim who was ringside.

The strength of Hernandez was showcased best when he overhead tossed Chris Harris from one end of the ring to the other from the top rope! Homicide then flew through the air with a cross-body splash on James Storm. Later on though, communication problems plagued LAX when Homicide was thrown into Hernandez on the ring apron. America’s Most Wanted then initiated a tribute to the famed Hart Foundation with the Hart Attack clothesline. It was a near fall. From there, the Death Sentence was executed by AMW but the referee was distracted by Konnan at ringside which prompt Homicide to crack James Storm with the blue torch, which led to the win in favour of The Latin American Exchange.

Winners & STILL NWA World Tag Team Champions: Homicide & Hernandez

After the match, Konnan instructed Homicide to this time injure Gail Kim with the Gringo Killa. Petey Williams was again there for the save not only for the American flag, but also for Gail Kim. TNA management director Jim Cornette then showed up and declared that LAX are guilty as charged for their actions as of late. They’re not only disrespecting TNA management, but also the TNA fans, and the veterans of the past that once held onto the NWA World Tag Team Titles. So because of the nature of their win tonight, Jim Cornette then went forth on stripping LAX of the NWA World Tag Team Titles – and they have until this Thursday’s “iMPACT!” on Spike TV to personally hand the titles over to Jim Cornette.

NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
STING © vs. “THE MONSTER” ABYSS w/ JAMES MITCHELL
Going into Sting’s first NWA World Heavyweight Title defense, he proclaimed that he was going to bring back the respect and honor for this prestigious title. In doing that, Sting set his sights on defeating Abyss tonight fair and square but he would have a full court of chaos with James Mitchell ringside.

Nonetheless, Sting was on fire early on as he left no room for ring introductions by jump-starting the opening bell. The fight went on into the stands where he continued bashing Abyss’ head into a steel wall. A miscalculated Stinger Splash would turn the tides here when Sting landed openly on the guardrail. Abyss then brought barbed wire into play by placing two boards of it onto two stacked tables near the entranceway. The obvious plan was to send Sting through the wreck, but referee Rudy Charles threatened to disqualify Abyss of doing such an act.

So the fight was brought back into the ring with Sting suffering the worst from their brawl outside. Sting came back though with several Stinger Splash’s to Abyss but it didn’t seem to effect the monster who had adrenaline running through his body during this important championship match.

The Scorpion Death Lock didn’t even put the monster to sleep; in fact it only motivated him into swinging Sting through the motions of the Black Hole Slam. Sting showed no signs of giving up either, but after an inverted DDT performed by Sting we saw James Mitchell pull the referee out. So to make things fair, Sting pulled out the thumbtacks but instead of Abyss taking the tacks it was Sting with a bare back taking the brunt of the thumbtacks!

The suffering Sting was able to battle through from the thumbtacks as he immediately stood up and locked in the Scorpion Death Lock one more time amazed the fans. Abyss was tapping out but Mitchell was there once again holding up the referee. So Sting took things to another level by hanging Abyss upside-down from a cable hanging down from the arena. Sting then proceeded by swinging chair shot after chair shot. We were witnessing an all-new Sting directing traffic!

One detrimental thing that hurt Sting though was the refusal to listen to referee Rudy Charles. Sting even went to the point of knocking him out and getting disqualified just so he could send Abyss through two tables with barbed wire wrapped around them. It was almost like Sting was possessed and after the match, he had just realized what had taken place. Sting was disqualified and due to NWA-TNA rules, a title can change hands during a disqualification and therefore the prone Abyss was declared the new NWA World Heavyweight Champion.

Winner & NEW NWA World Heavyweight Champion: Abyss

Angle/Joe's going on last?

Big F'N Swigg - November 20, 2006 04:14 AM (GMT)
Yup, and Angle gets the win

dynamite kido - November 20, 2006 08:18 AM (GMT)
Hell of a show tonight. TNA is really starting to get their shit together.

Big F'N Swigg - November 20, 2006 01:40 PM (GMT)
lots of complaints about Abyss winning by DQ AND LAX possibly getting stripped of the titles on the same show.

And about Joe/Angle only going around 11 minutes

People are stupid though. They are figuring out ways to make everything more competitive.

LAX getting stripped is just helping them become the biggest heels in the company.

Joe/Angle getting 11 mintues is fine. The match is extremely solid and they are going to build to those two having a match involving the NWA Title.

Abyss winning by DQ is good, because they made Sting out to be an idiot, and Abyss gets his ass handed to him and comes out the champion. I think Sting has done a decent job since coming back, but his lacking schedule pretty much means he never should have been champion.

SamoaRowe - November 20, 2006 06:17 PM (GMT)
I read that Angle/Joe went 13 minutes. Sure, it's only two minutes longer than originally thought, but it sounds a little better B)

prof_plague - November 20, 2006 08:54 PM (GMT)
Abyss is the new NWA champion? Granted by DQ, but still. I have no problems with Abyss being champion, but I guess I just got confused.

But then again, you can tell I haven't watched much TNA this month as most of the matches didn't make as much sense to me - feud wise.

SamoaRowe - November 20, 2006 09:01 PM (GMT)
Actually a lot of the matches that made it to the card seemed to contradict the happenings of tv. Specifically, Sabin/Styles would have made more sense than Sabin/Daniels, and Styles/Cage came out of left field.

smkelly13 - November 21, 2006 02:13 AM (GMT)
Wow. I was way off, no MOTDC, not even a MOTYC from all reports I've read. How disappointing.

SamoaRowe - November 21, 2006 05:18 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I don't think it even sounds like the MOTN.

whitemilesdavis - November 21, 2006 12:58 PM (GMT)
I think this was something to build from, and if they are gonna have more matches, it's good to leave them somewhere to go.
