You know the drill.

Scrooge McSuck - January 17, 2005 06:29 PM (GMT)
For Benoit/Jericho AND Kane/Snitsky tonight, I see some non-finishes.

Also expect a quick video of Martin Luther King to open the show narrated by Vince McMahon.

Mad Dog - January 17, 2005 06:34 PM (GMT)
They really need to stop doing PPV rematches a week after the PPV.

I doubt they'll do the MLK thing with Vince. It'll be a deep thoughts segment with Steph where she finds some way to relate Vince to MLK like she did with the 9-11 events.

Scrooge McSuck - January 17, 2005 06:35 PM (GMT)
They've done it every year since the Attitude era began, so I see them doing something about MLK. Maybe not with Vince voice over, but it's like a tradition (like blowing their wod with PPV caliber matches on TV).

dynamite kido - January 17, 2005 07:18 PM (GMT)
Honestly, considering that Benoit/Jericho woundn't be on PPV especially at this point........I'm not bitching one bit about that match. Also, for the Kane/Snitsky match.......I think they're done on PPV for a while anyway.....so I see no problem with this.

Scrooge McSuck - January 17, 2005 07:22 PM (GMT)
The randomness of Benoit/Jericho though makes me suspicious though. I don't buy into the "WWE wants to please the crowd" crap, because WWE rarely does that, unless they book themselves against the well.

Royal Rumblings
Jan. 17, 2005

With New Year's Revolution behind them and the 2005 Royal Rumble on the immediate horizon, it looks like all hell is about to break loose for the Superstars of RAW. Can Triple H hold Evolution together, or has the animal Batista had all he can take? Will RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff reveal exactly when and where Randy Orton will get his long-awaited title shot against "The Game?"

In the spirit of competition, Chris Benoit will battle Chris Jericho in a blockbuster match. Both Superstars are ailing from the damage done in the Elimination Chamber, and both are submission specialists. Will it be the Crippler Crossface or the Walls of Jericho ruling RAW this coming Monday night?

On the heels of last week's brutal beating at the hands of the maniacal Gene Snitsky, Kane will get another shot at payback on RAW. But what is Kane's condition? It's impossible to predict what will happen when these two 300-plus pound monsters go head-to-head again.

Rumble qualifying matchups are sure to continue, as the 30-man field starts to take shape. Which Superstars will find themselves with a golden opportunity to go the distance on Jan. 30 live on pay-per-view, and emerge with a Heavyweight title shot at WrestleMania 21?

After the unholy conflagration between Edge and Shawn Michaels that ripped through the arena last week, it will be interesting, to say the least, to see what Edge has to say for himself this week …quot; as well as how HBK plans to deal with a man who has absolutely no respect for anything he has accomplished in his glorious 16-year WWE career.

Muhammad Hassan is certainly not afraid to express his controversial opinions regarding America and its citizens, and it's a safe bet we will once again be subjected to his inflammatory rhetoric. The question is: Can anyone shut his mouth for him?

For the answers to all these questions and more, tune in to RAW Monday night at 9/8 CT, only on SpikeTV!

Grr... nothing else mentioned for tonight, except the obvious and the matches announced last week. Oh well, Benoit v. Jericho will be good until some screwy non-finish.

Real F'n Show - January 18, 2005 12:51 AM (GMT)
I'm not going into Benoit/Jericho with high hopes either. WWE better surprise me and make it a clean finish dammit...

dynamite kido - January 18, 2005 12:52 AM (GMT)
Damn you guys are wishing for a lot. I'm just hoping that they actually give Jericho/Benoit time in this one.

Scrooge McSuck - January 18, 2005 12:53 AM (GMT)
I expect Benoit/Jericho will be 2:00 before someone runs in and destroys them, because lord knows Jericho can't be booked better than a midcarder, and Benoit has been shoved down the card. (Made the part abut Benoit up)

Mad Dog - January 18, 2005 01:14 AM (GMT)
I'm thinking it turns into a tag match when Evolution attacks them right at the start of the match or something.

I'm so changing the channel if that fucking happens.

Scrooge McSuck - January 18, 2005 01:18 AM (GMT)
One positive for RAW tonight: Toronto crowds are EVIL! Expect dead crowds, booing faces (shitting all over "hometown boy" Edge), and all other wacky stuff.

dynamite kido - January 18, 2005 01:18 AM (GMT)
Ahhhh, I forgot that RAW was in bizarro land this week.....

Mad Dog - January 18, 2005 01:25 AM (GMT)
I just remember watching a few weeks ago and the main event was like Benoit and someone vs. Batista and Triple H.

JR: This might be the biggest main event Raw has ever seen!!!

I seriously turned the tv off in disgust at that. What made it so much bigger than the other 30 times that match has happened this year?

Scrooge McSuck - January 18, 2005 01:31 AM (GMT)
A FEW YEARS ago? Benoit has only been on RAW for a year now.

Mad Dog - January 18, 2005 01:31 AM (GMT)
Sorry meant weeks.

Scrooge McSuck - January 18, 2005 02:00 AM (GMT)
MLK Video Opens... I told you. Too bad no Vince McMahon voice over.

Why not? A well executed HHH/Batista vs Jericho/Benoit match is better that a bastardized 2 minute Jericho/Benoit match for my money. But yea, the match went off without a hitch. Interesting finish.

Mad Dog - January 18, 2005 04:22 PM (GMT)
What a horrible show.

Scrooge McSuck - January 18, 2005 05:12 PM (GMT)
My thoughts on the show...

The Good:
Jericho vs. Benoit - Pretty fun match, although Jericho going over clean after becoming job boy is a little weird. I expected something in storyline developement.

Batista vs. Viscera - Mainly because Batista is a fucking BEAST, and the crowd is really getting into him.

Kane chokeslamming Trish; Chokeslamming Snitsky off the stage - I'm a mark, but damn some cool moments. Kane finally sbhuts Trish's big mouth, and (if the camera angle didn't suck), the Chokeslam to Hell was fucking sweet. Too bad the camera men are retards and did close ups of SNITSKY AND KANE ASKING EACH OTHER IF THEY ARE OK.

The Bad:

Everything else.

dynamite kido - January 18, 2005 07:14 PM (GMT)
Here's my thoughts on last night's show....

Well, apparently they thought it was necessessary to do something with Jericho/Hassan and Hassan didn't even interfere in Jericho's match?!?!! I'm not complaining, because I was glad it went clean........I just don't understand why they even brought out Hassan if they weren't starting a feud with him? They even had to bring him out and do his schtick in Canada where he had to make up bullshit against Canada just so he was heel. Also, why weren't they claiming that they were in bizzaro land when he was booed? Well, we all know the answers to that question, so basically it's a long way of me saying that I fucking hated the entire segment.

Also, the Y2J/Benoit match was good and still a little on the short side. I thought they did well together(when DON'T they..) and I was pleasantly surprised when they weren't all chummy after the match......and then shook hands. Could they be thinking of doing this again on PPV maybe? We can all hope can't we?

The Kane/Snitsky match was pretty much run of the mill for those two and the end chokeslam spot was pretty cool. My only problem with it, is why are they still fighting? Kane beat him, and they blew it off only to do this? I guess they are going to milk this feud for everything they can since there is nothing for either of them to do otherwise, and they invested a lot of time and effort into this angle.

Bautista/Viscera was a total guy forced into being a face(Bautista) because the crowd hates the other guy so much(Viscera...why does he have a job?). But it did it's part, except for the fact that Bautista did look like he almost got hurt on the botched availanche by Big Vis. Oh well, it was short so I guess I shouldn't complain.

The rest of the show however....was utter shit.

Scrooge McSuck - January 18, 2005 07:18 PM (GMT)
I have to disagree on the Viscera comment. How does the crowd hate him? He gets about zero reaction, even when he's on Heat and heat (no pun intended) can be piped in. (see also: Mark Henry 2002).

Well, without knowing it....you are agreeing with me. Viscera is one of the wrestlers that have no heat because everyone hates him.....so thus making Bautista the face by default.

Scrooge McSuck - January 18, 2005 07:34 PM (GMT)
Oh... different POV. I was thinking the fans didn't care about Viscera, rather than hating him. So, how does this lead to Wrestlemania?

Triple H vs. Randy Orton, or Triple H vs. Batista? (hopes to God not a Triple Threat... again)

TehDoct0r - January 18, 2005 08:50 PM (GMT)
They probablly will go Triplw Threat, only because they've built up Orton vs HHH so much. I mean, it's a pretty good rule of thumb that Vince likes to set his Mania main event way before Mania is even close, and it was obviously Orton/Trips, but this Batista thing is really a gold mine dropped in their laps. They'd be fools not to at take advantage of it. But then again, this is the same fed with necrophilia angles.

Scrooge McSuck - January 18, 2005 08:52 PM (GMT)
I read somewhere (a.k.a I forgot the source) the plan is Orton vs. Undertaker in an Interpromotional Legend vs. Legend Killer Match, and Batista vs. Triple H for the Title.

ORton is turning heel?

TehDoct0r - January 18, 2005 08:55 PM (GMT)
That would be awesome. I know Taker would go over, but I wouldn't care, cause we'd get heel Orton back. Plus then we get Trips/Batista. Awesome stuff.

Real F'n Show - January 18, 2005 09:47 PM (GMT)
I'm not believing Taker/Orton until it's announced. For some reason, I think we'll get Batista vs. Orton vs. Triple H at Mania...

Scrooge McSuck - January 19, 2005 01:50 AM (GMT)
Sunday Night Heat Matches:
1. Rhyno vs. Steven Richards
2. Tajiri vs. ??? (I think it's Wavell Starr, a.k.a Tatanka 2K5)
3. Val Venis vs. Simon Dean

Sounds quite poopy. Rhyno/Richards might be good, but the rest looks craptastic (Nova had his balls cut off, so don't expect something special with Venis)

TehDoct0r - January 19, 2005 02:45 AM (GMT)
We still can hope, can't we?

Scrooge McSuck - January 20, 2005 06:59 PM (GMT)
No, you aren't. Venis vs. Dean will suck and there's nothing you can do about it. Now if you'll excuse me... (gets a needle)

WWE Smackdown Preview for January 20th, 2004:
The Royal Rumble will be just ten days away when SmackDown! invades Montreal this week.
What could be in store one week after Kurt Angle pulled a fast one on JBL and his Cabinet?
Some huge matches are scheduled as WWE Tag Team Champions the Basham Brothers face the dangerous unit of Eddie Guerrero & Booker T. Also, there will be some Royal Rumble qualifying matches, including United States Champion John Cena vs. Rene Dupree.
Meanwhile, will Heidenreich get out of his Casket Match with Undertaker at the Jan. 30 pay-per-view? And can Carlito and his petition really oust General Manager Theodore Long from office?
Plus, will the Angle Invitational continue to roll on as SmackDown! crosses the border into Canada?
With the Royal Rumble on deck for Jan. 30, don't miss SmackDown on UPN (8/7) CT.

Scrooge McSuck - January 21, 2005 02:51 AM (GMT)
I'll probably give my opinions on Smackdown tomorrow, since I'm taping it because I've met my quota of wrestling today (KOTR 93) and don't feel like watching it now.

SamoaRowe - January 21, 2005 03:08 AM (GMT)
Ugh, Smackdown was boring tonight (or at least the first hour was, I'd had enough by 9). The Bashams vs Eddie/Booker T was good enough but the rest of the show was flat.

Scrooge McSuck - January 21, 2005 03:10 AM (GMT)
Hopefully Orton and HHH co-lose your loser-leaves-town match, Rowe. :D

LoL. Don't worry, the winner of the match gets severly depushed after the pay-per-view.

VELOCITY PREVIEW
Jan. 22, 2005

This week on Velocity the action will be coming at you fast and furious. The Cruiserweights will look to set the heart-pounding tone that only Velocity can bring. Paul London will team up with Cruiserweight Champion Funaki to take on the combination of Nunzio and Shannon Moore. Funaki defeated Nunzio on last week's SmackDown!, but will he be able to come out on top in tag team action?

Hardcore Holly will also be in action to dish out some more punishment. Last week he defeated Spike Dudley, but who will he try to make his next victim?

Plus, Charlie Haas will be in action against Kenzo Suzuki. Suzuki has a United States Championship match next week on SmackDown! against John Cena. Will he be able to stay focused on Charlie Haas or will he be overlooking Haas?

And take a look back at this week's SmackDown! Check out how things shook out when the Bashams defended the tag titles against Eddie Guerrero & Booker T. Kurt Angle apologized to Joy Giovanni and Big Show, but was he forgiven? And has Heidenreich overcome his fear of caskets yet?

Hopefully this time London/Moore won't stink up the ring, and that the match is lnoger than 3:00. Haas vs. Suzuki... ehh... Holly in a squash means nothing either.

Mad Dog - January 21, 2005 09:58 PM (GMT)
What's been with Hardcore Holly getting squash matches every week on Velocity. Are they trying to tank that show as well.

Scrooge McSuck - January 21, 2005 10:21 PM (GMT)
Velocity almost always has had a squash match every week. It's better than a match where Paul London gets squashed by someone like Suzuki again, and gives Holly something to do.
