Since the Pillman dvd came out, I thought i would review the Best of the Hollywood blondes VHS i got from Corey's Archives.

The Best of THE HOLLYWOOD BLONDES

1. Hollywood Blonds vs. Ricky Steamboat & Shane Douglas (Clash XXII, January 13, 1993)
This is a pretty famous match. Pillman/Austin aren't called the blondes in this match. The heels do some good double teams when Steamboat makes a comback by backdroping pillman. He makes a hot tag to Douglas. Austin and Steamboat battle on the outside while douglas has pillman pinned. Steamboat has the ref distracted when Austin grabs the tag title and hits douglas with the tag belt. The ref sees it and the Blondes are dqed. The blondes destroy Steamboat/Pillman after the match and leave them bloody.


2.Up Close with Brian Pillman and Steve Austin
Tony Schivonie interviews the team about Barry Windham, Priorities and the tag titles. The Blondes want a tag title match under 2/3 falls rules.

3.Hollywood Blonds vs. Ricky Steamboat & Shane Douglas (WCW Worldwide, 03/03/93, Macon, GA)
This is a one fall match. Steamboat's theme music is just so bad ass. Steamboat and Austin start the match. The faces do some good double team moves on Austin. The blondes then isolate Douglas. Steamboat makes the hot tag and goes after pillman. Later in the match, The Faces corner Steve Austin. The faces tag in and out while doing Abdominal stretches for a while. Austin recovers and makes the tag. The faces keep Brian dominated with some submissions and good double teams. Pillman makes a tag and Austin and douglas trade moves. Pillman chokes Douglas with a towel. When we come back from commercial, Steamboat is out of position for the tag and Pillman nails him. Austin chokes douglas with a cable. Austin misses a splash. but comes back with a bearhug. Douglas comes back with some punches. However, Austin comes back with a spinebuster. Steamboat is out of position again for the hot tag. The blondes miss the rocket launcher. Steamboat finally get tagged in. Austin hits pillman by mistake and steamboat pins him for a 2 count. Douglas hits a plancha. Austin hits steamboat with the belt and Pillman pins him for the 3. NEW CHAMPIONS: THE HOLLYWOOD BLONDES. Great match. Although they are not called the Blondes yet.

Interview after the match with the Blondes. They celebrate with Jesse Ventura. Austin is funny as hell in this interview as he thanks Steamboat and Douglas for being so stupid. They call themselves "the team of the 90s". Schivonie calls them "the big blonde machine".

Dos Hombres debut on WCW Saturday Night in an interview segment
" They are interviewed with there interpetor and only $19 in their pockets. They want to send a tape back to mexico. They are dressed in Somberos and suits. Ricky Steamboat comes out and wishes them luck. Steamboat says the Blondes aren't to be trusted."

Hollywood Blondes vs. Sgt. Buddy Lee Parker & Joe Cruz
" Finally they are called the Hollywood Blondes. Before the match, they introduce the Blondes brush with greatness Tournment. They want to bring out the top tag teams in the world. So they start with the Jobbers. They talk about there opponents: One has a triple moonsalt and makes Jushin liger look like someone in slow motion. The other is popular in europe. HA funny as hell. The Assasin does commentary for this match. This is your basic Squash match. Stun gun and double splash by the blondes for the win".

Interview with the Blondes after the match. They gloat over there victory and talk about Dos Hombres.

Hollywood Blondes vs. Dos Hombres (WCW Main Event)
" It's funny to hear Larry Z talk about Mexican wrestling. Normally you would think this is a squash match but the Hombres wrestle like a ceratin tag team. The story of the match is the Blondes underestimated Dos Hombres. The Hombres do a stupid dance taunt. Pillman is pissed and paranoid. After getting schooled by one of the hombres, Pillman screams "that's ricky steamboat"!! After some good back and forth action by both teams, The blondes head to the outside and complain about Steamboat/Douglas being underneath the masks. But wait a minute, look who shows up, Shane Douglas!! The blondes get taken to the limit as the Time runs out."


The Flair For The Gold segment that started the Blonds vs. Arn/Flair feud
" AH flair for the Gold. They should bring this back. Flair makes Fifi walk the aisle while the sound goes out. Missy Hyatt comes in and yells at Flair and Arn. The Blondes come out and make fun of Flair's age and Arn's weight. Arn gets angry and Flair has to calm him down. Pillman calls the Legends Hasbeens. Flair finally gets angry and chases the Blondes off."

8.Hollywood Blondes interview
"The blondes talk about The horsemen and Dos Hombres.

9.Hollywood Blondes vs. Dos Hombres (Cage, Slamboree '93, May 23, 1993)
" I'm sure many of you know the story of this match but if you don't, I'll tell you. The match was supposed to be Blondes/Steamboat and douglas but Shane quit the company before Slamboree. So Steamboat and Tom Zenk came out as Dos Hombres. The announcers still say Shane is part of Dos Hombres but it's obvious he's not. This is your normal good WCW tag match. Steamboat takes his mask off and does a splash off the cage. Austin hits the stun gun on "douglas" for the win."


10.Ric Flair and Arn Anderson interview
" Classic Arn and Flair promo on the blondes.


11.A Flare For The Old (Pillman and Austin make fun of Flair in a hilarious segment.)
" Such a great interview segement. Pillman comes out as flair and some fat chick as fifi. Austin comes out and it gets even better. "Flair" falls asleep when Austin talks. Flair takes his "medication". Arn Anderson comes out and Austin rips him a new one. Arn slaps Austin and Pillman hides behind Fifi. Pillman hits arn with the cane. Flair comes out and chases the blondes away."

Hollywood Blonds vs. Ric Flair and Arn Anderson (2/3, Clash of the Champions 23 – June 17, 1993)
Flair's first match back in WCW after his WWF run. Good match as Flair just destroyies the Blondes in the first fall. When Anderson is in the ring, The blondes take control. Flair pins Pillman to take the first fall. Arn is hurt going into the second fall. The Blondes control the match but when Flair/Anderson come back, Barry Windham comes in for the dq. Paul Roma enters the ring from the crowd and makes the save. Winners by DQ: Flair and Anderson. Barry Windham gets interviewed after the match. Flair jumps him.

Blondes commerical for WCW Saturday Night.


Hollywood Blondes vs. Arn Anderson and Paul Roma (Beach Blast '93, 18/07/93)

Blondes win after Pillman clotheslines Roma and Austin pins him. Pretty good match.

Overall: Great comp. The only match missing is Blondes/ Scropio and Bagwell.

Next time: WWF Monday Night raw from October 1995. 2 Episodes featuring Bret Hart vs Issac Yankem Cage match and Alundra Blayze vs Bertha Faye.

I politely request star ratings B) Otherwise, fun write-up, makes me want to watch some more Brian Pillman.

Looks like a good tape. I'm with Rowe on the ratings. If you've got a problem with the star ratings use a 1-10 scale or something to let us know where the match ranks vs. other matches...in your opinion of course. Otherwise, good review. I look forward to reading more.
