Real F'n Show - October 3, 2006 11:35 PM (GMT)
Basically I've been watching nothing but NJPW Jr. matches from 1990-1997. Liger, Pegasus, Sasuke, Black Tiger, Ohtani, Samurai, Kanemoto, Ultimo and the rest. I'm gonna try to start posting some of these in the Media Folder soon...

Real F'n Show - October 4, 2006 02:09 AM (GMT)
Parts of Super J '94
I've seen this so much that I mostly just watched some matches I don't remember as well like TAKA/Eddie and Sasuke/Samurai, which were both fantastic. Fast-forwarded through Liger/Hayabusa which I may go back and watch later. Basically I just wanted to rewatch Sasuke/Samurai though, which is damn underrated. Sasuke totally kicked ass in this tournament, having the 3 best matches in it against Sammy, Liger, and Benoit. My Highspots VHS of this now looks like a 3rd Gen Dub...

Super J Crown '96
The main stand out of course is Ohtani/Ultimo, which is what actually started me on this New Japan Juniors kick. That's because after I watched Ohtani/Ultimo I watched Sasuke/Samurai from this show which then prompted me to rewatch their match from Super J '94 and then I just couldn't stop. Damn the Sasuke/Samurai matches are underrated. Especially this one, which is always overshadowed by Ohtani/Ultimo. Finals are pretty good with Sasuke/Ultimo but the previously mentioned two steal the show.

Finals from both TOSJ '92, and TOSJ '93
Oh El Samurai. This is the phase where Samurai was only young and "good" but he was really, really carryable. '92 vs. Liger is easily a Top 5 NJPW Jrs match and '93 vs. Benoit is Top 10. Funny how when Samurai became "great" a few years later, the matches these guys had with him weren't as good as these.

Top of the Super Juniors '95
More Sammy/Benoit goodness, but like I noted, not as good as their earlier encounters. Benoit definately made up for it with, up to this point, his best match with Eddie and a killer final against Shinjiro Ohtani, who would later completely rule the year of 1996. I am looking forward to it.

Top of the Super Juniors '96
Completely underrated show. Liger/Samurai is no TOSJ '92, but still one of their best for sure. Remember when I said that at last year's event Benoit and Eddie had their best match together up to that point? Well I'm not sure if they topped that one in WCW in between these two tourneys or not, but they definately topped it here. It's my favorite match the two ever had together. Eddie gets the upset after losing to Benoit the two previous years. Liger/Eddie is pretty great as well and forgotten by a lot of people. Show stealer is definately Benoit/Eddie, though.

Yeah, I was lazy and felt like watching these on Monday after realizing it was too late to get to my one class that day in time. Luckily for me I'll be getting a job soon, but unluckily for you, that probably means very little wrestling watching.

Super J '95 and the '94 Jr. Tag League will be next when ever I get around to it, plus I'm sure I have a New Japan Jrs. comp somewhere and possibly an Ohtani in 1996 comp as well, although I'm sure that's in bad shape...

Hey RFS, thanks for getting my slack on this.

Today I watched some early Jericho, from J-cup 95 and an early ECW fan cam match vs. Sabu. Pretty good stuff, I guess.

The Grappler vs Wahoo Mcdaniel Indian Strap match 1992 from WING

I had no idea these 2 wrestled in WING. This was a good bloody match. Both are way past there time but can still go.

Also on the same card, Invader 3 vs Wing Kanamura for the PNW title. Another bloddy match that had Invader 3 going over.

whitemilesdavis - October 6, 2006 01:26 AM (GMT)
92?!? Wow, Wahoo was half dead at that point. Cool.

Real F'n Show - October 6, 2006 04:17 AM (GMT)
More New Japan Juniors, as promised. I skimmed Skydiving J which really doesn't have much other than Liger vs. Dick Togo which was fun, but forgetable.

Super J '95
This has the Jericho/Benoit match that lots of people like, and it still holds up pretty well. I'm gonna watch their Fall Brawl '97 (I think) match sometime to see how it compares. Ultimo/Ohtani also had a pretty good match that foreshadowed their "better" encounter a year later at TOSJ. Benoit and Liger both carried Gedo to great matches (in the semis and finals respectively), but the Liger/Ultimo semi totally stole the show. I'm glad I rewatched that. Rey Mysterio and Psicosis also have a really fun non-tourney match to show off their stuff for the Japanese crowd. Great show.

TOSJ '97
Pretty disappointing, especially after watching Super J '95. The semis of Liger/Kanemoto and Samurai/Ohtani were good, but nothing spectacular. Samurai/Ohtani was the better match. The finals of Kanemoto/Samurai was again just "good", better than the semis, but not as good as some early round matches from previous tournaments.

Junior Tag League '94
Just watched the two Sasuke/Black Tiger vs. Benoit/Ohtani matches. The finals are better of course, in part because of how they play off of their first match. That's why it's great watching them back-to-back. The finals is one of my favorite tag matches ever, and probably in my top 20 matches ever. Up until the botched finish this was going along perfectly.

On the computer
Liger/Kanemoto vs. Ultimo/Orihara (12/19/92) was another fucking awesome tag team match. I think I got this from DVDVR so I might up it here soon.

Random Junior Matches
I honestly don't remember where I got this tape from, but it had to be from sometime before 2001. God I hate tracking lines. For some reason there's also a Hashimoto/Hase match thrown on here at the end which I may write about later...dates on these are probably wrong but it's not my fault...

*Samurai/Ohtani (9/10/97) was alright. The two work very well together and I thought this was one of their better encounters, although I'm sure they've had even more spectacular ones.

*There's a Liger/Owen Hart match, from '90-'91 I'm sure, which is just horrible video quality and pretty much unwatchable anymore. I'm sure it was great.

*The Liger/Benoit match on here I think is the exact same match from the Benoit DVD. I'm sure most of you have seen it.

*Samurai/Ohtani (1/20/96) was great. I told you these two had a better match in them and this was it. Probably Samurai's best singles match behind the Liger and Benoit ones. Ohtani was fucking great this entire year and most of '95 as well.

*There was a great Liger/Ohtani match somewhere in here that was pretty bad video quality and I have no idea of the date. I'll research it and see what I can find.

*Benoit/Ohtani (3/20/96) was pretty goddamn fun. The swandive DDT is one gorgeous looking move.

There's some other stuff on here, but it's four hours, and there is such a thing as too much wrestling. Maybe later.

Samoa Joe vs Necro Butcher IWA MS 2005: Good match. Necro Bleeds like a man and Joe Destroys him. But the best thing is the Rob Naylor mentions.

Los Chivas and Venum Black vs Los Duendes from AAA late 90's early 2000?

Los Chivas are Wrestling goats that Antonio Pena creatied in honor of Chivas the famous Mexican soccer team. Venum black was a member of the famous Los Space Cadets team that made AAA really good after Rey Jr. and company left in 96. I can't really explain Los Dundes because i've never heard of them. Apparentley they are court jesters and are different colors. One is Red, another is blue and the last i think is purple Anyways, This is a good lucha match. Just nonstop action. Venum wasn't really part of this match as it was basically Chivas. Worth a download if you have the time.

WCW Halloween Havoc 1992!
I'm trying to recall...but did WCW ever put on a lights-out, balls-tastic, awesome PPV? It seemed like all of their PPV's from 1991-2001 were simply a collection of matches..with no real "special" feeling to them. This is like that.

Consider: Tom Zenk, Johnny Gunn (Tom Brandi) & Shane Douglas vs. Arn Anderson, Bobby Eaton & Michael Hayes. Yeah......I'd look forward to THAT! Who's with me?!!

Dual Main Events: Ron Simmons vs. Barbarian (and there was NO bearhug! WTF?!) and Sting vs. Jake Roberts. The ending to Sting/Roberts is funny. Sting taps Roberts in the tummy with a Coal Miner's Glove...which apparently causes Jake to apply his cobra to his own face. Logic in Wrestling!

One Cool Thing: For the Rick Rude/Masahiro Chono match, Madusa is wearing a dark green/black leather body stocking and looks ten kinds of bang-able.

I've been downloading a lot of wrestling lately. If your not a member of the DVDVR boards, you should really think about it. The matches part is one of the best things I've ever seen. Kevin Cook has been posting 1990 CMLL and it's just outstanding.

I watched Blue Panther/Solar 1 in a tag match. I forgot there partners but the real highlight is Panther/Solar. Solar is amazing and we all know about Panther. Watching this is like watching a ballet. Kinda like a mix between Japanesse wrestling and American 80's style.

Also watched some Pirata Morgan jr. matches like his Hair match With Maskare. It's a bloodbath and Morgan in 1990 was probably one of the best in the world. He takes Maskare's blood and spits it out ala Gangrel. He takes insane bumps.

But my favorite match was Rayo/Cien Caras mask match. The heat afterwards is the most heat i've ever seen. I'm not joking. The fans crowd the ringside and the Photographers corner Cien so he can take his mask off. Hell the match starts with Cien going all Jeff Jarrett on Rayo.

I'll have to check those out. It's been a long time since I've seen 90s CMLL.
