That three hour Raw should be interesting.

jamiegeist - October 1, 2006 05:30 AM (GMT)
If RAW wasn't shittier anymore than Nitro ever was, I'd say "That three hour Raw should be as brutal as a Nitro".

But of course, RAW has sucked more than dying Nitro lately.

No matter how terrible Raw has supposedly been lately, WWE isn't going under anytime soon because of terrible programming like Nitro.

SamoaRowe - October 1, 2006 02:14 PM (GMT)
I don't know, I saw clips of Nitro OnDemand a couple nights ago where they dedicated a good 15 minutes to a taped Elizabeth segment and then clipped to Randy Savage stumbling around crying. And this was in the 1996 "glory years." I haven't seen anything quite that tedious on Raw... ever.

The last 4 months of WCW was really good actually. Good matches for the most part. Strong central storyline with the Mag Seven.

I'm pretty sure the Necrophilia angle racked up plenty of points, especially the ventriliquist act from hell/hurricane "comedy" segment lumped into one segment.

Well, those segments were more flat out awful than they were tedious B)

More thank likely we're in a downswing right now, and it'll pick up to it's usual level of "quality" within a month or so...

Mad Dog - October 3, 2006 11:32 AM (GMT)
Looks like the HHH Variety Show is back again.

whitemilesdavis - October 3, 2006 12:13 PM (GMT)
Did HHH actually point out that Masters was off the juice? Wow. That was actually funny, but ...jeez.

Not to mention hypocritical. Chris Masters should find a time machine and go back to late 2003 when HHH was getting off the juice himself, and interupt an interview making the same joke.

Family Reunion tonight at 8!

S.T. Strickler - October 10, 2006 12:18 AM (GMT)
And finally after 4 years, they got a new theme song, logo, and graphics for Raw.

Big F'N Swigg - October 10, 2006 12:45 AM (GMT)
Whoever designed that RAW logo needs to be fired and start a new career

Real F'n Show - October 10, 2006 03:13 AM (GMT)
Is there a new stage set and everything too?

Big F'N Swigg - October 10, 2006 01:01 PM (GMT)
no, just logo & graphics

SamoaRowe - October 10, 2006 01:26 PM (GMT)
I'm sick of the new Papa Roach theme song already.

I only watched the first two hours and then clicked back on for the last ten minutes. It became pretty obvious to me that nothing significant was going to happen and it was just a much longer version of the same old crap. I did enjoy the Smackdown match, and the opening bit with the three champions, and I'm actually sorry I missed the Edge/Orton segment.

dynamite kido - October 10, 2006 08:14 PM (GMT)
I actually found RAW to be pretty entertaining this week. Plus, Benoit being on was an added bonus.

Now with SD being so thin, I wonder what the chances are of Benoit eventually getting another title run are.

whitemilesdavis - October 10, 2006 08:24 PM (GMT)
Yeah, last night made me think that if there were no roster split, I could actually enjoy RAW. You had some fresh matchups, and the show was pretty packed to get all those people on there.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing myself.

I wonder if they are thinking of eventually putting everything to one roster again in the next year or so.....although I doubt it.

TheGreatWhiteChoate - October 10, 2006 08:58 PM (GMT)
I don't want to pick out things that aren't there, but especially during the three champions bit, didn't it seem like all the characters were a little more cartoony, like they were actually having fun? I seemed to see that.

No, that's the way that it came off to me to.

No, that's the way that it came off to me to.

Personally, I'd like to see that more often in bits like that. It actually felt natural.

SamoaRowe - October 10, 2006 09:51 PM (GMT)
Big Show, Booker, and Cena are three guys who are all very good on the mic, so it worked pretty well. Personally, I had to chuckle when Cena was mocking Booker's faux British accent.

You probably missed Roddy Piper, Money Inc., and Arn Anderson coming out to scare off the Spirit Squad.

Yeah, I did miss that part, sadly, I would've enjoyed seening Money Inc.

S.T. Strickler - October 10, 2006 11:42 PM (GMT)
Mike Rotundo/I.R.S. looked a little bigger. Guess that's what happens when you get older and don't wrestle as much.

whitemilesdavis - October 11, 2006 12:29 AM (GMT)
Oh, forgot to say: I haven't been watching Smackdown, so I didn't realize it, but the King Booker gimmick is incredible. Man, I miss Booker. I may have to start setting the DVR just for . Chahmpion ahv the Wuuuld!! Great Stuff.

prof_plague - October 11, 2006 01:27 AM (GMT)
The person I most marked out for was IRS. Don't get me wrong, DiBiase is probably my favourite, but he wasn't wearing his Million Dollar Suit, nor the Million Dollar title. Rotundo looked like IRS and had the briefcase.

S.T. Strickler - October 11, 2006 01:49 AM (GMT)
I wasn't expecting to see Rotundo last night.

Big F'N Swigg - October 11, 2006 03:50 AM (GMT)
so ECW sucked. One good match, one decent one, and they didn't even play poker in the "Strip Poker."

Major Disappointment

Scrooge McSuck - October 11, 2006 01:07 PM (GMT)
<---Marked out big time for IRS... too bad he didn't wrestle. :(

<---Also marked for Kane losing. Now I don't have to watch Raw anymore! YAY!

And Balls Mahoney rules.

Big F'N Swigg - October 11, 2006 01:18 PM (GMT)
It amazes me that one night of "Strip Poker" does more to get Balls over than years of wear and tear in the ring

Scrooge McSuck - October 11, 2006 01:19 PM (GMT)
I liked what Balls has done since WWE picked him up. He's entertaining as heck.

Big F'N Swigg - October 11, 2006 01:21 PM (GMT)
Would you expect anything less from a guy named Balls?

eStragand - October 11, 2006 04:59 PM (GMT)
I thought the "Strip Poker" (why the heck wasn't it just UNO or Go Fish?) proved that just because you have chics wearing slutty clothes and getting nekkid...doesn't mean that it's "sexy" or "erotic".

Didn't help that Balls Mahoney came off like a minor league Mick Foley, either.

Oh, and can someone explain to this old Fuddy-Duddy where the "diamonds on my boobs, diamonds on my boobs" came from? I thought it was pretty funny..but I'm guessing it's from some hip-hop song.

But BY GAWD KING, did we just see a CLEAN pinfall win for Tommy Dreamer? In a non-garbage match?! Crap...has that ever happened? I think he's always won with a kendo stick/stop sign/plastic dinosaur or screwy run-in.

Vampire Guy won't lose any heat or get de-pushed because of the loss, though. Dreamer needed something to make him the Upper Midcard Icon of ECW. Looked like good booking from my view.

whitemilesdavis - October 11, 2006 05:07 PM (GMT)
Diamonds on my neck. Diamonds on my Neck.

Yeah, it's a hip-hop song by someone named Smitty.

S.T. Strickler - October 11, 2006 08:07 PM (GMT)
I found it kinda funny that Balls was constantly chanting "ECW! ECW!" during the cat-fight.
