Do you believe in miracles? The kind of miracle that happens when your team sucks and still squeezes out a playoff berth thanks to your fierce rival's sucking on the last game of the season?
I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES!
eStragand - October 1, 2006 08:45 PM (GMT)
Freddy Sanchez... YOUR 2006 NL batting champ.
Which makes Jason Bay's lack of clutch hitting all the more frustrating. If the guy in front of you is hiting .345 you should be raking in some stupid numbers.
Give Sanchez credit. He could have sat out, and for awhile it looked like Sunday's game would go extra innings. But benching him was never discussed.
Real F'n Show - October 2, 2006 12:59 AM (GMT)
TWWWINNNNS WWINNN! the division. After never having the lead until today. And Mauer wins the batting title. And we don't have to play the Yankees. GOOD DAY.
TheGreatWhiteChoate - October 2, 2006 01:30 AM (GMT)
Congrats, man. Here's hoping the Twins go to the series before they lose.
Real F'n Show - October 2, 2006 01:38 AM (GMT)
Then I will cheer for your Cardinals as well. 1987 rematch!

Bring it on!
Scrooge McSuck - October 2, 2006 01:09 PM (GMT)
The Yanks will crush the other teams like a bunch of grapes! ARRR!

I hope not.

Scrooge McSuck - October 2, 2006 01:25 PM (GMT)
Yeah, whatever. No Red Sox in Post-Season = Scrooge Happy.
Real F'n Show - October 2, 2006 08:01 PM (GMT)
Twins over A's in 5.
Yankees over Tigers in 4.
Mets over Dodgers in 5.
Cardinals over Padres in 5.
TheGreatWhiteChoate - October 2, 2006 08:04 PM (GMT)
Twins over A's in 4.
Tigers over Yanks in 5.
Mets over Dodgers in 3.
Cards over Padres in 4.
eStragand - October 3, 2006 05:44 PM (GMT)
Listening to the A's-Twins game right now. Dammit...is that Steve Stone on the color commentary?!
TheGreatWhiteChoate - October 3, 2006 05:55 PM (GMT)
Cards-Pads at 4, and I'm watching it with a Pads fan.
Good chance I'll end up in jail for homicide.
Mad Dog - October 3, 2006 06:25 PM (GMT)
Man, Frank Thomas was really a steal for the A's. .270/.381/.545, 39 homers and 114 RBI. All of that for 500k.
eStragand - October 3, 2006 07:19 PM (GMT)
Although, with his injury history, it was an incentive-laced deal. Frank hit alot of those incentives and ended up making about $3.8 million this year.
Real F'n Show - October 3, 2006 08:02 PM (GMT)
Mad Dog - October 3, 2006 08:09 PM (GMT)
Why do you have to hate on him like that? Did you play his awful baseball game for SNES or something?
Real F'n Show - October 3, 2006 08:11 PM (GMT)
He pretty much single handedly beat my team in Game 1 of the ALDS. AND his game sucked.
eStragand - October 3, 2006 08:47 PM (GMT)
Once upon a time, Frank Thomas gave me an autographed baseball and hit a homerun on my birthday.
Real F'n Show - October 3, 2006 11:04 PM (GMT)
Congrats on the Cards win, Choate.
I do not like the Twins chances after losing game 1. With Santana pitching. At home.
Real F'n Show - October 3, 2006 11:22 PM (GMT)
Probables for the rest of the series:
GAME 2: Loaiza (Oak.) at Bonser (Minn.)
GAME 3: Radke (Minn.) at Haren (Oak.)
GAME 4 (if necessary): Silva (Minn.) at Harden (Oak.)
GAME 5 (if necessary): Zito (Oak.) at Santana (Minn.)
I miss Liriano...
Real F'n Show - October 4, 2006 01:32 AM (GMT)
Tigers are down 5-0 already. Nate Robertson is one of the most mediocre Game 1 starters I can remember...

Here here. His game did suck, and I was dumb enough to rent it one time.

Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Frank Thomas' game...
S.T. Strickler - October 4, 2006 01:57 AM (GMT)
Indeed.. And for further clarification:
Ken Griffey Jr. Presents MLB >>> Ken Griffey Jr.'s Winning Run >>>>>>>>> Frank Thomas' game

Thanks, man. Don't give up on the Twins yet...I don't see the A's doing much with Loaiza.

Mad Dog - October 4, 2006 09:07 PM (GMT)
You know what annoys me most about the playoffs? The fact that the Yankees get primetime no matter what. 9/10 of the country doesn't give a shit.
Real F'n Show - October 4, 2006 09:11 PM (GMT)
Exactly. Two nights in a row is bad enough, ESPN and Fox will probably stop following the Playoffs completely if they're eliminated...
TheGreatWhiteChoate - October 4, 2006 09:13 PM (GMT)
You're not kidding. I love how the NL is considered so crappy that they get the 4 p.m. time slot.
Mad Dog - October 4, 2006 09:13 PM (GMT)
Oh well. Hope all the NY fans enjoy seeing Nick Swisher and Frank Thomas knocking the ball out of the park. They'll be seeing a lot of that soon.
Real F'n Show - October 4, 2006 09:14 PM (GMT)
Yeah, but so will Abreu, Giambi, A-Rod, Sheffield, and Matsui.
eStragand - October 4, 2006 09:51 PM (GMT)
Y'know, I seriously believe that they need to leave postseason coverage to each team's home network. I watched FOX last night and the play-by-play was so sanitized compared to YES or FSN Detroit. Too often they'd talk about basic baseball, not Tigers or Yankees baseball. Joe Buck went off for three minutes babbling about which team won the World Series since 1996. That's awful.
I know it's contractually impossible, but the divisional series would be so much better if hosted by home town guys. Let them act as "tour guides" and clue the rest of the country in on what's been happening all season with their team. They're much more passionate and detail-oriented about the games.

I couldn't agree more. Nothing worse than Chris Berman yapping about worthless horseshit when the local guys could actually talk about the game.
TheGreatWhiteChoate - October 5, 2006 02:34 AM (GMT)
You're with me, leather!
Berman sucks.
Real F'n Show - October 5, 2006 07:48 PM (GMT)
Nothing better than a rain delay screwing up ESPN's primetime game. Plus now I have something to watch today...
TheGreatWhiteChoate - October 5, 2006 07:49 PM (GMT)
I only get to watch an hour of the Cards game before I have to go to class. That blows.
Real F'n Show - October 5, 2006 07:53 PM (GMT)
I skipped class yesterday to catch the Twins game. 2 classes in fact.
Mad Dog - October 5, 2006 08:05 PM (GMT)
The worst part about Berman is ESPN acts like we should be honored to have that worthless sack of shit in the booth.
