Did anybody catch the premiere? I thought it was pretty good.
Hiro seems to be the favorite character so far.
It's hard for me to believe that no one, among all the comic book geeks on this board, watches this show.
Come on, guys
Don't follow it. But I'd be okay with following any recaps or opinions you have of the show. A quick little plot synopsis or reaction.
From what I've seen, this show looks like it would be "comic book heroes for people who don't read comics". Any accuracy to that? Admittedly, my exposure to the show has been from ads proclaiming it the "#1 new drama that critics love"....and a Japenese guy shrieking "EEEEEEEE"!
I was thinking about following it, but I got sucked into Battlestar Galactica instead. Since those episodes are archived though OnDemand, I found it easier to follow. With LOST, Earl, The Office, baseball, WWE 24/7, Broncos and my Shitty DVD's, I don't have time to follow another series. There's only so much time I have to be a nerd.
I'll try and give you a rundown:
The general plot starts with Mohinder Suresh. Mohinder is a geneticist who works in India. His father wrote a book on genetic mutation that explains that people will eventually gain powers they didn't once have. His father mysteriously dies before the pilot episode. Mohinder is now begrudgingly in New York at his father's apartment trying to prove that his father wasn't nuts. He's met or seen several of the genetically evolved characters, including a visit to the apartment of a serial killer named Sylar after discovering a key to Sylar's apartment in a book owned by his father.
Hiro is a twenty something Japanese guy who works in an office. He discovers that he can actually bend the space time continuum. He tries to tell his co worker about his powers, but his co-worker thinks he's nuts. Hiro then tries to prove it by teleporting into the women's room. His co worker still doesn't believe him, so Hiro teleports to New York, where he finds a comic book that explains everything that's happened to him and what will happen to him for the next few days. Hiro then discovers that he teleported into the future where he sees New York attacked by what appears to be an atomic bomb. He teleports back to Japan, and convinces his friend that he's not crazy. They're currently in the US and just used Hiro's powers in a casino.
Peter and Nathan Petrelli are brothers. One, I think Nathan, is running for office. The other, Peter, is a nurse. Peter's friend takes him to her client's apartment. The client claims he can paint the future. Except he needs Heroin to do it. Peter sees himself flying in one of the paintings, and it affirms his dreams that he can fly. Peter stands on top of a building. Before he jumps, his brother comes to talk to him. Turns out Nathan is the flier. Peter find's Mohinder's father's book and believes that he and his brother are evolved. Nathan puts it all aside and tries to focus on his campaign. Peter tries to make sense of it all while falling for his friend.
more later....
