FORMER WCW STAR SIGNED FOR ECW BRAND
by Mike Johnson @ 8:40:00 PM on 9/12/2006

World Wrestling Entertainment has signed one of the most underrated in-ring performers of all time, former WCW star Brad Armstrong. Armstrong will be starting in a few weeks with the ECW brand. As irony would have it, his brother Scott was hired for the ECW brand as a referee last month.

That's kind of an odd signing.

Yeah, I saw that report on another site a little while ago and thought "oh, how very random."

I figured he would get signed as a ref at some point since James Beard is out as a ref now. I wonder if Scott Armstrong will join anytime soon.

And it would be kind of cool to have an appearance with "Bullet" Bob Armstrong.

It'd be hilariously great if they could put Bob Armstrong vs. Terry Funk at the next ECW ppv.

I'm all for a Brad Armstrong signing. He appared to have some skill left judging by that unusual "Legends" PPV a few months back.

I heard that Brad Armstrong might be taking Gagne's place as a road agent.

SamoaRowe - September 14, 2006 07:46 PM (GMT)
Gagne wasn't a road agent, he was booking OVW.

As reported in this news post, Greg Gagne was relieved of his OVW booking duties and released from the WWE. The feeling was that he was out of touch with modern wrestling as much of his knowledge was from the old AWA system.

At this moment in time, no official successor has been announced but it is believed that Mike "Simon Dean" Bucci could possibly replace Gagne, thus adding the booking responsibility to his existing talent relations duties.

Sad thing is, I knew that. Although some bookers have been doubling-up as road agents, like a ref would sometimes do.

You'd be surprised how many old school would order that.
