Real F'n Show - September 6, 2006 12:19 AM (GMT)
Yeah. Playoff races. Discuss.

Scrooge McSuck - September 6, 2006 01:05 PM (GMT)
Teams to worry about:

Bahston (pfft... try leap frogging either the Yanks or Twins)
LA Angels of Anahiem California

The entire NL, because it's so mediocre and inconsistant.

Big F'N Swigg - September 6, 2006 03:02 PM (GMT)
Boston's finally getting over the injuries they've been sustaining. Thank God.

I would love to see a playoffs with both the Reds AND the Red Sox. That would make my day

S.T. Strickler - September 7, 2006 02:24 AM (GMT)
If the Marlins somehow get into the playoffs, I see them winning their 3rd World Series.

Real F'n Show - September 7, 2006 02:41 AM (GMT)
Willis, Olsen, Johnson, Sanchez, Nolasco, all solid. Yeah, they'll be scary.

eStragand - September 7, 2006 04:02 PM (GMT)
Let's say the Marlins do get in as a wildcard. Joe Girardi will be fired and re-hired at least 3 times over the course of each playoff series.

While there was a record number of shutouts on the 5th, it's also important to note that there was a record number of shoutouts as well. A good portion of players gave, as they say on the streets, "shoutouts" to all their "homies" after hitting a homerun or notching 3 strikeouts. Not since the great "Gotta' Give Props Day" of July 28, 1997 had there been such a record number of unnecessary adulations.

Real F'n Show - September 8, 2006 01:20 AM (GMT)
I don't know how my Twins are managing to stay in the Wild Card race with Scott Fucking Baker in their rotation.

Scrooge McSuck - September 9, 2006 01:14 PM (GMT)
How about BOOF Bonser? No offense, but he's not exactly a Liriano or Santana. It could be worse, you know. You could have Jae So, Tim Corcoran, Jamie Shields, J.P. Howell, and Jason Hammel as your rotation. :D

Real F'n Show - September 9, 2006 03:02 PM (GMT)
Howell's gonna be a solid lefty. And all you had to give for him was Joey Gathwright.

BOOF has been pitching out of his mind lately. Garza has overpowering stuff but needs to work on his location. Baker sucks against everyone but the Yankees. Liriano makes a Triple A start today, so good news.

Big F'N Swigg - September 9, 2006 10:15 PM (GMT)
Red Sox say goodbye to Javy Lopez

And I'm assuming the playoffs as well

Scrooge McSuck - September 12, 2006 01:07 PM (GMT)
Hmm...

Wild Card:
Twins lead
W-Sox back by I think 1.5
Angels back 6.5
Red Sox back 7.5

AL East
Yanks lead
Sox back 9.5

Yup, they're fucked with a capital P.

Real F'n Show - September 13, 2006 04:12 PM (GMT)
LIRIANO BACK TODAY. Fuck yeah.

My team's only 1 1/2 games behind Detroit.

eStragand - September 13, 2006 04:30 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the reminder. He's on my DWB Fantasy Team and I had him benched. I've completely forgotten about that thing for most of the season.

Real F'n Show - September 13, 2006 04:50 PM (GMT)
Shit, same here. I'll just assume I'm still in 4th place like I have been almost the entire season...

eStragand - September 13, 2006 08:04 PM (GMT)
Feh...Liriano starts and comes out of the game after two innings with left elbow problems. So much for the comeback.

Real F'n Show - September 13, 2006 08:19 PM (GMT)
Yeah it fucking sucks. He's slowly turning into the next Mark Prior...

TheGreatWhiteChoate - September 13, 2006 08:47 PM (GMT)
Liriano and Santana in the same rotation is too good.

Real F'n Show - September 14, 2006 01:10 AM (GMT)
God I'm still pissed about this. Now if we make the playoffs it will be another one of those years where we face the Yankees in the ALDS and dominate in Game 1 with Santana on the mound, and then have nothing after that...

Scrooge McSuck - September 14, 2006 01:08 PM (GMT)
Don't even expect Santana to dominate Game 1. The Twins have a poor track record vs. New York, especially at Yankee Stadium. Just hope they pull Oakland instead, by some miracle. :P

The Twins might have a chance vs. NY in a best of 7, but even that's being seriously optimistic. Santana needs to win Games 1, 4, and 7 himself basically, because without Radke and Liriano, the rotation is about as good as the D-Rays when Scott Kazmir is healthy. 1 superstar and a bunch of crap.

Real F'n Show - September 14, 2006 03:37 PM (GMT)
They're saying now he needs the Tommy John Surgery.

And yeah, we're like 2-6 against the Yankees in the postseason since 2003. Both wins were from Santana...

eStragand - September 14, 2006 05:17 PM (GMT)
Tommy John Surgery's not too bad. Cut him up now and he'll be back in 2008 throwing harder than ever before. That's how that procedure works.

I need Freddy "Dirty" Sanchez to win the NL batting title. I'll put another bounty: $1 per strikeout to every pitcher who gets Miguel Cabrera to whiff. (payable at season's end when, and only if, Freddy wins the title).

Real F'n Show - September 14, 2006 10:00 PM (GMT)
OR...he'll end up like Joe Mays.

Real F'n Show - September 15, 2006 02:15 AM (GMT)
Well now they're saying he does NOT need TJS, and could be back for the beginning of the 2007 season. Probably for the same thing to happen again...

Scrooge McSuck - September 16, 2006 01:11 PM (GMT)
Last night clinched another 90-loss season for the Rays. Dammit, that's all I had left to hope not for. I guess there's always next year. (cries) DAMN YOU UNFAIR PAYROLL BALANCE!

(puts on Oakland cap) Come on, A's! Beat those Angels into submission!

S.T. Strickler - September 16, 2006 01:33 PM (GMT)
Don't feel bad Scrooge. My O's are getting closer to 90 losses as well.. Poor Hayden Penn. Everybody labels him as a hot prospect, and he's been getting shellacked in every game he's pitched this year.

Markakis for Rookie of the Year!

Scrooge McSuck - September 16, 2006 01:36 PM (GMT)
Markakis? Bah! My vote is for either Jered Weaver (shock!) or Liriano, if he's eligable. I'm not totally impressed enough with Verlander to give it to him.

And the O's at least have had a few respectable seasons. The Rays are still trying to wash the label of pathetic losers off. Trouble is it was written in permanent ink. But with a lineup with Crawford, Balldelli, Young, Upton, Wigginton, and Cantu (and maybe a healthy Jonny Gomes) next year all at full strength, we should be better. The pitching can't be much worse either.

Real F'n Show - September 16, 2006 11:58 PM (GMT)
It seems like every time the Twins need some other team to lose, they're playing the O's....Seriously Strickler, your team may suck, but they can still be a DIFFERENCE MAKER.

S.T. Strickler - September 17, 2006 02:52 AM (GMT)
They're the Orioles, you should know better.

Scrooge McSuck - September 18, 2006 01:04 PM (GMT)
A team with promise that never really does anything... fuck, I'm talking about my Rays again. :D

eStragand - September 21, 2006 03:39 PM (GMT)
Fucking Pirates...doing it to me again. Swept the Mets and took the first two from the Dodgers. It looks like they have the pieces in place again. Which means I'll go into the offseason thinking they might do something next year.

Then they'll go out and sign more worthless, over-the-hill, third-class free agents in February (hey, Brad Radke..guess where YOU might play next year?) and probably re-up with Jeromy Burnitz and Joe Randa.

Real F'n Show - September 21, 2006 04:22 PM (GMT)
Twins add to wild card lead, up 5 and a half on Chicago. Still trail the Tigers by a half game for the division lead, which we definately need. Means the difference between playing Oakland or the Yankees in the first round of the playoffs.

Real F'n Show - September 22, 2006 01:22 AM (GMT)
So with BOOF~! and Garza pitching well, Santana's sure been "off" lately. Hopefully he gets it back together for the playoffs.

Real F'n Show - September 22, 2006 02:46 PM (GMT)
No. Your team plays in the American League. I could see them finishing ahead of the Orioles next year, though.

There's some irony. A Yankees fan complaining about unfair salary balance

:(

Sure. We meet once every two months in Goodland, KS. The Rockies ownership used to attend, but we kicked them out when they began petitioning for Jesus as NL MVP.

Chris Duffy swiped two bases on Wednesday night. Both on pitch-outs. There are some rumblings between Duffy and the Pirates AGAIN. This time it's a dispute over assigning him to winter ball.

Oh, and since I got to watch some Dodger telecasts this week, I must pump up Vin Scully again. He was babbling about some story and said, "when I was visiting with you last night, I told you about this book..." Later on, he was plugging some Dodger promo and called all of us listening "friends". I like that... a guy who "visits" with us and calls us his "friends". It's like Mr. Rogers.

Real F'n Show - September 25, 2006 02:33 AM (GMT)
Twins magic number down to 2. Detroit clinches a playoff spot.

I'd say you're more like Ed Leslie as "The Zodiac".

(Scrooge puts on Yankees hat as they go up 7-0 on Rays)
* Yes, yes!!*

(Scrooge puts on Rays hat as Yankees cross the plate)
*No, no!!*
