Title: September iMPACT! Discussion
Description: Because it's no longer August...
Real F'n Show - September 4, 2006 11:16 PM (GMT)
The only free wrestling show I watch anymore...
Big F'N Swigg - September 8, 2006 04:09 AM (GMT)
You know, I was really disappointed by the Killings-Christian match. Maybe it's because half the match took place during the commercial break.
And man, I'm really tired of Tenay and West
SamoaRowe - September 8, 2006 12:51 PM (GMT)
I keep forgetting to watch it on Thursdays, so I hope I remember on Saturday. At this point, I think I really need Impact to be two hours for me to get into it on a consistent basis again. The commercials during the matches are a real bummer.
Big F'N Swigg - September 8, 2006 02:13 PM (GMT)
I hate to say it, but ECW is really hurting TNA for me. Most ECW shows I can get one match that's really strong, and the show moves in a consistent pace. So far the storylines have progressed fairly well. With TNA, I don't necessarily get a strong match, and the only storyline I'm sure will progress well will be the one with Jarrett in it. And it doesn't always progress well.
And as much as I hate to say it, Joey "Cole lite" Styles and Tazz are much less annoying than West and Tenay
SamoaRowe - September 8, 2006 05:54 PM (GMT)
I'll agree that ECW has done a better job of handling a one hour timeslot on a week to week basis, even with the frequent guest appearances by Raw and Smackdown guys. Imagine if TNA started doing a bit more what ECW has been doing, they would be unstoppable.

After watching iMPACT last night, I have a few comments:
1. Why is it that the X Division faces get lumped together, and then are given a gimmick as a group? They're not a six man tag team, you know. Not that I mind the jackass oriented gimmick, as it's Sonjay's first, but really. Make them individuals.
2. TNA needs to realize that angles should make sense when they happen. Most of their storylines are goofy looking until you see them in the vignettes. THEN they make sense. They need to make sense BOTH times.
3. The match at No Surrender with Jarrett could be a SERIOUS disaster. Some fans could get WAY out of hand.
Mad Dog - September 17, 2006 02:59 PM (GMT)
They're picking the fans. So I imagine there's going to be lots of training as far as the picked fans go before the show.
Big F'N Swigg - September 17, 2006 05:09 PM (GMT)
I've also heard there will be no guardrail, though.
Big F'N Swigg - September 17, 2006 05:31 PM (GMT)
I also want to add that this "I hate Jarrett" angle reminds me of the Destiny angle. I wouldn't be surprised if Jarrett somehow came out on top in this. Which of course would kill the company for SOOOOOO many people
Mad Dog - September 19, 2006 09:33 PM (GMT)
My guess as to where this is going is Sting wins the title and then drops the belt to Samoa Joe in December to end out his contract. They'd probably do Sting/Christian for Sting's first title defense.
Though Joe wins this at No Surrender. Jarrett's laid down for him before.
SamoaRowe - September 21, 2006 08:27 PM (GMT)
Hey, the Wrestling Observer thinks they know what the big announcement at No Surrender will be, and if it's true, they are fucking themselves in the asshole.
It seems that the huge announcement that TNA have promised to deliver for their PPV this Sunday at No Surrender is the return of Vince Russo. Russo has been hired back to the booking committee to stop the halt of declining ratings and will work with Dutch Mantel and Jeff Jarrett. Mike Tenay and Scott D'Amore have been taken off the committee and it is unclear where this leaves Jeremy Borash.
The company have given Russo guidelines that there cannot be any 'sleaze' on it's wrestling show. The announcement of Russo's return will be made to the wrestler's this weekend. This announcement most probably now ends the negotiations with Bill Goldberg
SMOKE!
Are you smoking yet?
Mad Dog - September 21, 2006 08:35 PM (GMT)
I'm really hoping there's a swerve to that.

Me too, otherwise TNA is a bit more lost when it comes to booking than ANY of us ever could imagine.
Mad Dog - September 21, 2006 08:59 PM (GMT)
I think it would be a good swerve to have him come out and for him to announce whatever. Now Russo by himself isn't bad. If he's just there to pitch ideas that's not so bad. If they say got 2 hours I think he would be semi-helpful as his one positive as a writer is that everyone has some kind of storyline when he's around. But if he's head booker I don't know why they hit the panic button over some bad weeks. People are going back to school and ending the summer. The DVDs are still selling well and they aren't losing a ton of money like they used to. A big shakeup does more damage than staying the course.
NOTE FROM SWIGGY: I whited out the name, as it's part of the spoiler

Mad Dog - September 21, 2006 09:47 PM (GMT)
Yeah, he did. I don't know how that'll effect his writing style. It'll be a positive in that he won't sleaze.
SamoaRowe - September 21, 2006 10:31 PM (GMT)
Good, so we won't discover that Matt Bentley and Traci are brother and sister.
Speaking of, I haven't been keeping track, but what ended up happening with that whole story about Jackie threatening Jarrett with a tape? Did they just forget about it or was there some sort of pay-off?
D.A.V.E. - September 21, 2006 11:43 PM (GMT)
He ended up blackmailing her, IIRC.
More - Jarrett has booked Luge and Buff Bagwell for Monday's tapings
Mad Dog - September 22, 2006 01:31 AM (GMT)
It was going to lead to her and Raven joining up but she got preggers so they had to cut the storyline short.
Big F'N Swigg - September 22, 2006 02:04 AM (GMT)
If she doesn't come back and finish the angle after some kind of maternity leave, I'll be pissed
Big F'N Swigg - September 22, 2006 01:45 PM (GMT)
Did anyone else get a bit of heelishness from Sabin last night?
Big F'N Swigg - September 29, 2006 04:03 AM (GMT)
I think the Six man tag showcased every mistake in TNA's booking right now.
Mad Dog - September 29, 2006 04:55 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I think this is going to lead to them turning on Jerry Lynn and maybe having him back in the ring for a bit.
dynamite kido - September 29, 2006 05:04 PM (GMT)
Dude, I was diggin the fuck outta Impact last night.
They REALLY got their shit going right now.
....and Bound for Glory looks incredible right now.
Real F'n Show - September 29, 2006 06:13 PM (GMT)
Agreed. Although the Jackass stuff has definately got to go. Unless it involves Sonjay getting shot by a crazed Taxi Driver who thinks he's a terrorist, only to reveal after killing Sonjay that he's an actor, and Sonjay just ate his pubic hair.
Big F'N Swigg - September 29, 2006 08:12 PM (GMT)
I just wish they would have done the Christian-Rhino segment at some other point, not during a match. Even if it was "generic X-Division match of the night"
Mad Dog - September 29, 2006 09:45 PM (GMT)
I liked the Jarrett stuff a lot last night. He's been bringing his A game every week for awhile now. I also thought the use of Lex Luger and Buff Bagwell was really good. It made sense that Sting would have Luger help him train at least.
The Joe stuff is interesting too as I see it leading to him either handing the belt over to Sting at Bound for Glory or beating the shit out of Sting after he wins the belt.
