WWE's website announced this evening that a new team "Cryme Tyme" would be debuting tonight. The website noted, "In an effort to humor and entertain our fans the tag team known as Cryme Tyme will be parodying racial stereotypes. Shad Gaspard and JTG do outlandish, outrageous “stunts” to ready themselves for tag team action on RAW. This attempt at Saturday Night Live-like humor is bound to entertain audiences of all ethnic derivations."

You know, even though I know it was intentional humor, it still reeked of Vince not understanding the hip-hop crowd

Colcollazo - September 5, 2006 03:40 AM (GMT)
What happened to Masters...

Jeff/Nitro was decent actually, first solid match on Raw in a long time.

SamoaRowe - September 5, 2006 03:58 AM (GMT)
I thought the main event was great tonight. The fact that the emphasis was more so on Cena/Edge, Orton/Carlito, and Lita/Trish made for a better than usual Raw.

jamiegeist - September 5, 2006 06:07 AM (GMT)
This RAW was really f'n good. And to think, I almost didn't even watch it.

whitemilesdavis - September 5, 2006 11:51 AM (GMT)
I was bored through 90% of it. I thought the Cryme Time skit came off surprisingly well though.

SamoaRowe - September 5, 2006 06:57 PM (GMT)
I only saw the second hour. The Cryme Tyme segment was embarassing and the way it was pulled off only makes the creative team come off as being even further from reality than before. Seriously, where does the WWE find these writers? It's like there's an island of untalented hack writers who have never met a real woman or actually watched any television or wrestling, and they keep getting picked up by this wrestling company that so badly doesn't want to be called wrestling.

dynamite kido - September 5, 2006 07:07 PM (GMT)
I like the Cryme Time deal...............but unfortunately it comes off as incredibly racist.

But honestly, it's much better than half the shit that they've done. The only bad thing is that these guys are probably going to be faces before heels anyday of the week.

SamoaRowe - September 5, 2006 07:18 PM (GMT)
I have faith that Cryme Tyme will get over, but it's still a stupid gimmick with a stupid name. Seriously, could you imagine the reaction WWE officials would've had if someone had pitched the name "Cryme Tyme" at a meeting? It would've been laughed off, because it sounds rediculous.

jamiegeist - September 5, 2006 07:46 PM (GMT)
I don't like the name, but I think it was brilliantly done, and I don't find it racist in the least.

It is a great satire of hip hop culture, what with the "shoutout" and all that. If all you're seeing is two black guys robbing someone, then you may be the racist.

I think it is great, and the best thing i've seen in the E in a long time.

SamoaRowe - September 5, 2006 08:19 PM (GMT)
I don't think the gimmick itself is a bad idea, I just can't stand the "Cryme Tyme" name. WWE loses points for never being able to do anything subtle.

Big F'N Swigg - September 5, 2006 09:32 PM (GMT)
I'll give them credit for having fun with it, but it still seems legit racism on someone's part.

Mad Dog - September 6, 2006 12:10 AM (GMT)
Man, they can't even even do a full show with the Smackdown roster and they keep taking guys and throwing them on other shows. Great move there.

Colcollazo - September 6, 2006 04:17 AM (GMT)
It's nice to see HHH & HBK look better than most of ECW on their own show...

Big F'N Swigg - September 6, 2006 04:24 AM (GMT)
It was really neat seeing RVD and Sabu win over a southern crowd.

Opening match was the best of the night, and it was nice seeing CM Punk call Moore out for being a poser. Though Moore looked like a retard cupping his hands over his face

Actually, there's a thread on another baord named "Worst Wrestler Names of All Time." It was by coincidence that I was making my post in that thread when I saw the vignette for Cryme Tyme. I immediately added Cryme Tyme to the list.

Real F'n Show - September 6, 2006 02:29 PM (GMT)
Um. Why was DX on ECW?

so HHH can say he dominated on ECW

The kayfabe reason is that the McMahons recruited Big Show in their battle to take out DX, so DX had a storyline reason to be there to fight him.

Then there's the real reason, which Swiggy already stated.

prof_plague - September 6, 2006 08:05 PM (GMT)
So, I was actually getting nostalgic when the idea was brought-up about reuniting D-X. I also thought it wasa good idea because HHH and Michaels would be put in the D-X stable and be joined with a singles wrestler, tag team, and a diva - or something along those lines, and put over the young kids at the same time by elevating by the simple fact that teh young kids would be paired with HHH and Michaels, and could be shown the ropes a little closer by being in a stable with them. But, instead, we've been treated to an everlasting HHH/Michaels, calling themselves D-X without actually being D-X, against in-laws and close friends, The McMahons. I won't lie, that aspect is funny - to see Shane "bloody" HHH, knowing that is his brother-in-law, but that end about that.

The only other good thing to come of D-X/McMahons is that we don't have to see Triple H with a title belt and Shawn Micheals as a main eventer as singles wrestlers. And, instead of The McMahons feuding with each other, or some other wrestler, they are clumped together in one mass, instead of all three or four with their own matches and mic times.

Scrooge McSuck - September 9, 2006 01:12 PM (GMT)
Watched Smackdown for the first time in weeks... and what the hell. They seriously turned Eddie's wife HEEL? What happend, Vince threaten to cut off the payments unless she got involved with his circus act from hell? Son of a bitch asshole should burn in hell.... moreso.

Real F'n Show - September 9, 2006 03:10 PM (GMT)
I was planning on watching but went out instead. How was Rey/Finlay?

SamoaRowe - September 9, 2006 07:52 PM (GMT)
I haven't watched a full episode of Smackdown since before King Booker won the title. I've either had to work, or been out with friends, and I just haven't remembered to tape it ever.

Colcollazo - September 10, 2006 02:51 AM (GMT)
Rey/Finlay was good, they played up Rey being mentally "out of it" and Finlay beat him clean as a result. Don't know what they're thinking with Miz, but Helms/Hardy is a good program.

Didn't really watch Chavo/Tatanka, but the 6 person tag was good. Also enjoyed Lashley/Regal a lot, I found Vito to be hilarious too.

Booker/Batista wasn't good, but by watching you could tell Booker is very motivated at the moment, right decision to keep the belt on him. Very interested in a Batista/Finlay feud too and what they'll do with Booker and Lashley for the coming weeks.

prof_plague - September 12, 2006 02:05 AM (GMT)
I was into the old school feel between Booker T/Batista. It's not a fantastic match, but it was pretty decent given the two wrestlers.

eStragand - September 13, 2006 04:29 PM (GMT)
Caught a bit of ECWWE last night.

-I was getting worried about Rene Dupree's "hardcore" claims. Especially when he was walking around in a towel. Like he'd be a gay porn star or something.

-One disturbing trend that I've noticed over the years in WWE's storylines. They seem to think that if a babyface gets over, he gets to hang with the Resident Hot Chic as a reward. Rock got to hang with Trish. Orton got to hang with Stacy. Now Punk got to hang with Kelly Kelly. I'm sure there's a few more I'm forgetting. Just sorta' objectifies women even more and makes them appear as trophies or rewards for doing good.

-I guess "straight-edge" doesn't appply to banging chics, huh? The more I think about it, "straight-edge" sounds like an excuse to be cheap.

Real F'n Show - September 13, 2006 04:49 PM (GMT)
Really, straight edge is supposed to include no premarital sex, but most of those losers would fuck any chick willing if they ever got the chance.

Punk being the exception having landed Maria.

SamoaRowe - September 13, 2006 04:51 PM (GMT)
Yeah, it's been pretty well covered that the no premarital sex thing has never been part of Punk's beliefs. But at least Punk has standards :)

Big F'N Swigg - September 13, 2006 04:55 PM (GMT)
No premarital sex is always an up in the air with Straight Edgers. some follow it, some don't. It's not one of the major focus' of Straight Edge, though

Mad Dog - September 14, 2006 01:38 PM (GMT)
MSG Classics:

April 25, 1988:

Bret Hart vs. Bad News Brown - time limit draw

WWF Title Match:
Randy Savage © d. Ted Dibiase by DQ when Virgil got involved

WWF Tag Team Title Match:
Demolition © D. Strike Force

Hour 2 had that shitty Raw after Lesnar won the title for the first time and HHH and Taker totally buried him.

Chris Jericho d. Jeff Hardy

Rob Van Dam d. Tommy Dreamer to unify the Hardcore title to the I.C. title

HHH vs. Undertaker - didn't watch it and don't remember the winner

Scrooge McSuck - September 14, 2006 01:44 PM (GMT)
Eh?!

Mad Dog - September 14, 2006 02:00 PM (GMT)
I get the Madison Square Garden Network now and they show old MSG shows on Wednesday night.

Real F'n Show - September 18, 2006 06:38 PM (GMT)
I take it no one ordered Unforgiven?

Colcollazo - September 18, 2006 07:19 PM (GMT)
Unforgiven was good last night.

Nitro/Hardy was decent, but went on too long. Didn't bother to watch the tag or Orton/Carlito. Kane/Umaga was a bit entertaining as Umaga stiffed Kane a little. HIAC had quite a few sick spots but all in all, it wasn't a good match at all. Lita/Trish was alright, with a great, great finish. I enjoyed TLC, but expected better. The show was better than anything Raw has produced for the entire year of 2006 though.

And I saw that MSG show from '88 too. A lot of fun, all three matches were very good.

SamoaRowe - September 18, 2006 07:38 PM (GMT)
Yeah, after reading the results, I actually want to get this one on DVD.

No way in hell did I order the show though.

SamoaRowe - September 19, 2006 08:57 PM (GMT)
Am I the only one here who watched Raw last night? It was an okay show. I particularly enjoyed the six pack challenge for the IC title. I seriously thought, at one point, that Super Crazy was about to win the belt.

Mad Dog - September 19, 2006 09:03 PM (GMT)
I can't bring myself to watch Raw these days to be honest. The DX/McMahon garbage is just too much.

Real F'n Show - September 19, 2006 09:23 PM (GMT)
Same here. Is Cena really going to Smackdown then?

SamoaRowe - September 19, 2006 10:18 PM (GMT)
Cena won the title back at Unforgiven, so he's staying on Raw.

Actually, last night featured no McMahons, though they were the subject of half the heel promos for the entire night.

Last night was the first full episode of Raw I'd watched in a while, and to be honest, it was because advertisements said the McMahons wouldn't be there.

Scrooge McSuck - September 20, 2006 01:08 PM (GMT)
I can barely watch Raw these days, despite the incentives of seing Kane jopb to a fat, no-talent Kamala imitation that no one gives a shit about.
