Title: Cable prices
Description: Holy Shit

So I just got done talking to Time Warner, and the cheapest cable rate is $49.99 a month. I'm in shock. That's way fucking expensive.
As a side note, I can't get satellite because my apartment complex wants me to take out an insurance policy on a satellite dish that would make satellite around $100 a month.
What a shitty situation.

Ugh..... that really does suck. I think we pay less for ours and we have net service with it. Plus our satallite package costs less per month and that's with 180 channels.

I also take it that they're the only cable company in town as well.

The only one I know of.

Ah yes, the joys of local monopolies.
Big F'N Swigg - January 14, 2005 04:24 AM (GMT)
Damned FCC. They've made my life a living hell.

I hate SBC for the very reason that they were the monoply in the town I went to college in. It was insane the kind of shit they would pull and the fact that they would intentionally not have customer service because they could.
MCI started poking in a few months before I left, I had my service switched over the second I heard that.

When I got my first apartment in college, we got cable with Charter. We were supposed to have the "capability" to order PPV through the remote, but we couldn't. We missed 2 PPV's because the office was only open M-F. I got to see TNA's first PPV, though.
Needless to say, when I moved I got DirecTV, and the service was instantaneous. I would rather have DirecTV than cable ANY day.

Prepare to be horrified...
Until I had my cable bill cut to $53 a month, it was (with a shit load of HBO's and Showtimes and hundreds of channels) $115 a month (including tax, and tax on PPV's).

geez, dude. DirecTV
Scrooge McSuck - January 14, 2005 04:39 AM (GMT)
I couldn't get that. And I can't get dish because of an apartment complex not allowing. I don't miss HBO and Showtime at all. Nor do I miss PPV's, since most of the crap today is garbage.
(invests money into pornos)

Ahh, then you share my problem.
And invest in wrestling tapes. Pervert.

I have basic cable and 5 HBO channels and 3 Encore channels. I pay $43.99 a month for it all.
whitemilesdavis - January 14, 2005 01:53 PM (GMT)
I've got below basic cable. They won't tell you about it unless you specifically ask. It's $9.99/month for like 27 channels. Then, when something is on another channel I just go to my Dad's house.

Big F'N Swigg - January 14, 2005 03:10 PM (GMT)
