WWE'S RELEASED SUPERSTARS UNITE AGAINST THE AWA!
New AWA World Heavyweight Champion "The FsT" Ric Converse has a target on his back larger than any previous World Champion in the history of Professional Wrestling. The "boys" in the business consider Converse's World Championship a joke. WWE standouts Mark Jindrak, Matt Morgan, "Superhero in Training" Rosey, Aaron "Jesus" Aguilera, Luther Reigns and Zac Gowen are all lining up to take the new Champion's title. Jindrak commented recently that "we've all paid our dues, been in the national spotlight and have performed at a level higher than any "indy" guy. Converse doesn't deserve the title of World Champion and one of us is going to prove it to the public and the business".

Y'all may have seen this on another board. Just wondering what you think about this little tour for Converse, and what does this do for the title?

I think it's a great idea. It gives him credible opponents to beat without actually sacrificing guys that the actual territories are building up.

I noticed you responded to those dickheads a Death Valley Driver who were mocking this just because they hadn't heard of Converse.

Actually, I kind of agree with the people at DVDVR about this. I have nothing against Converse as I've never seen him and I've heard good things. It's just for me, wrestling those guys doesn't give you credibility because none of them are very good IMO. But if he can carry them to something decent, that speaks volumes for him.

Gowen and Aguilera are useless for this. Rosey's iffy but Morgan, Reigns and Jindrak are all big guys and they can get that standard big man thing. Plus the AWA is aimed at a different crowd than the uber smarky crowds of the coasts.

Here are my points about it:

1.) It gets the AWA title actually travelling to territories, which is a good start.

2.) In BF Pennsylavania, Zack Gowen will draw more than Ric Converse, simply because he's had national exposure. In other words, there is more money in getting some recognizable faces than unkown outsider vs. unknown local guy.

3.) I'll guarantee that at least one of these matches will be surprisingly good. If I had to bet, I'd say the one with Rosey, but I could see the Matt Morgan and Luther Reigns matches working out good too.

4.) It does give Converse more credibility to have wins over recognizable names. So far his only notable wins are against Corino, Omori, and Tracy Smothers. These 6 have more name recognition than those 3, not more talent, but definitely more recognition.

That's a good point. And COnverse is not at all your typical indy-spot-monkey type wrestler, so who this is marketed to is crucial.

I think it's good. As WMD said, most of those guys are better draws than random local guys. And they're guys who've been on the national stage. The title hasn't had that kind of action since it's been brought back.

dynamite kido - July 21, 2006 03:36 PM (GMT)
Well, I'll certainly agree that it's good for the AWA's attendance. I just hope they aren't paying out of the ass to bring in those guys.

Mad Dog - July 21, 2006 03:38 PM (GMT)
Yeah that would be a concern with a couple of them. I would think Morgan and Jindrak could potentially carry a hefty price tag.

I'd love to see the match with Morgan.

I'd love to see the match with Morgan.

So would I. He's the one guy that Corny mentioned in one of his shoots as a guy that the WWE totally missed the boat on.

He's definately got that Brock Lesner credibilty because he's a solid big man and apparently he has MAJOR mic skills too.

How many Smackdown's did Augilera appear on? 2?

whitemilesdavis - July 21, 2006 07:15 PM (GMT)
He was on for a while until Cena had to go and stab him.

dynamite kido - July 21, 2006 07:23 PM (GMT)
I'll still say that the street fight with Cena vs. Jesus was one of Cena's better efforts in the company to date.

whitemilesdavis - July 21, 2006 07:30 PM (GMT)
I don't remember it, but I do remember Jesus sucking for the most part.

Oh, he sucks horribly. But for some reason that match was better than expected.

whitemilesdavis - July 21, 2006 07:42 PM (GMT)
I'm also not sure how many fans Jesus will draw to a little indy show, but the rest of those guys should do alright.

dynamite kido - July 21, 2006 07:49 PM (GMT)
Especially because they won't be marketing him as Jesus. They might get to pull the religious people though with that though if they did.

Can Converse retain the title again JESUS!!!!!?!?!?!

whitemilesdavis - July 21, 2006 07:55 PM (GMT)
They couldn't run that here in the south. Well, maybe if they gave an alter call afterwards.
