Title: Punjabi Prison Match
Description: What Is It?

prof_plague - July 20, 2006 04:21 AM (GMT)
What is a Punjabi Prison match? I haven't kept-up with SmackDown enough to know whether or not it's been explained. So, what is it? Is it like a Bootcamp/NO DQ match, or what? I hear the commentators keep saying along the lines of "this is one of the most terrifying matches in history" to hype it up. But what is special about this match?

jamiegeist - July 20, 2006 04:22 AM (GMT)
They haven't bothered explaining it, other than JBL occasionally saying "I'd heard of a Punjabi Prison match, but I've never actually seen one."

God only knows. It'll probably be nothing.

Undertaker vs. The Great Khali in a Punjabi Prison Match
July 23, 2006

At The Great American Bash, Undertaker may be up against the toughest challenge of his career when he faces The Great Khali in a Punjabi Prison Match.

Of course, no one other than Khali (and maybe Daivari) even knows what a Punjabi Prison Match actually is. That in itself gives Khali a huge advantage, but that is only multiplied by the psychological advantage Khali has had since destroying Undertaker at Judgment Day.

For weeks, Khali has been mocking Undertaker by using his signature taunts, even going so far as to put Gunner Scott in a body bag on SmackDown. Finally, after weeks of disappearance, Undertaker “returned” on July 7.

Following Khali’s match with Tatanka, the monster intended to put the Native American Warrior in a casket. However, when the tomb was opened, smoke billowed out and the lights in the arena dimmed. With his voice filling the arena, the Deadman accepted Khali’s Punjabi Prison challenge and told the monster that he would rest in peace.

At Judgment Day, The Great Khali shocked everyone when he defeated Undertaker. Can he make it two in a row on July 23, or will the Deadman send Khali to his own Punjabi Prison?

I fuckin hate the WWE for reasons such as this one.

I honestly believe they still don't know what they'll be doing for that match on Sunday. Honestly.

Should we expect a Dog Kennel match II?

Either that, or WWE is going to use the same soundstage when Piper was stuck in Alcatraz.

My sources tell me that it's similar to a Turkish Prison match.

Sad thing is, now with Henry being hurt.......this is soooo main eventing.

I guess I still don't know what how that ties into wrestling. So, what's a Turkish Prison match?

Have you ever been in a cockpit before, Tommy?

eStragand - July 20, 2006 05:19 PM (GMT)
Do you hang out around...gymnasiums?!

Do you like gladiator movies?

Big F'N Swigg - July 20, 2006 05:20 PM (GMT)
Have you ever seen a grown man naked?

Rey/Booker will go on last. I don't know what you're smokin.

Booker has been the main attraction of every show for the past month, with multiple segments, and the most screen time. They'll do the right thing for a change and put the World Title on last.

And Booker is so winning this thing. I have two viewpoints on this. It is a known fact that I hate Booker, and think he is shit in the ring. However, the whole King thing has been moderately entertaining, especially with Booker's facials (yes, that is intentionally).

Plus, he is a 5 time, 5 time, 5 time, 5 time, 5 time WCW Champion, and used to be one of the hardest working guys in wrestling. I kind of think he deserves a real World Title, cause he should have had it long ago in his WWE career.

I'm still thinking that Taker/Khali go on last, especially because it's an "attraction". Rey title reign has been disrespected from the start and NOTHING of his has really main evented.

Booker wins to so Rey can get surgery and so they can set up Booker/Batista for Summerslam.

eStragand - July 20, 2006 08:44 PM (GMT)
Logistics might also place Taker/Khali at the end. I imagine they have to set up a buncha' STUFF for the Punjabi Prison Match. It'd drag down the show down if they have to pack up the props and clean the ring area before another match.

Rey/Booker should be last, though. All the promos I've seen (all TWO of 'em) feature Rey/Booker.

Not that I'll watch or have any concern over the event. But I might enjoy reading a write-up on it, next week.

I'm presuming this match will be pre-taped.

Current GAB card:

World Champion Rey Mysterio vs. King Booker
Batista's Open Challenge
Undertaker vs. The Great Khali (Punjabi Prison Match)
Triple Threat Match for the United States Championship
WWE Tag Team Champions Brian Kendrick & Paul London vs. The Pitbulls

Five matches, and maybe a Psicosis/Super Crazy match. Plus there's usually a Diva Match. Still, the card feels short. May be everything will be rushed and come together on Friday. Oh, and Helms isn't on the card, either.

WWE announced today a 4 way Bra and Panties match, and also Gregory Helms defending the cruiserweight title. Didn't say who.

Dear WWE. Way to disrespect a title more than I've ever seen ANY company disrespect ANY title. This also includes 2000 WCW.

I unfortunately think that the "great" in Helms's talent has unfortunately passed him by. Totally the WWE dropping the ball on that as well.

whitemilesdavis - July 21, 2006 01:50 PM (GMT)
He's still a young man. I think he could still have a lot left in him. Probably not hi-flying cruiser stuff, but I'd like to see him change his style anyway. I don't know, and we're surely not gonna find out as long as he's in WWE.

Unfortunately you're 100% correct on that.

Helms is still good, but I wonder if he's motivated.
