Title: The DWB 100 for 2006
jamiegeist - July 13, 2006 08:36 PM (GMT)
So, we kind of had two ongoing threads about this, making it hard to keep a discussion going. Here is the official thread for the new DWB 100 of 2006.
I decided to take this concept to TheCageEffect Forums, and was wondering if you guys just wanted to combine the lists. After all, the more sampling size we have, the better the results should probably be.
Regardless, I made a post over there, and am accepting lists from them, so if you want, I'll be glad to do our lists as well, as I already have a spreadsheet set up and all that jazz.
Basically I laid it out over there as being the top 100 wrestlers in the world over the past year, from last Summer until the present. Again, no real "critera", except whatever you want to use to gauge it. I posted a huge list of workers that I gathered off of ObsessedwithWrestling, and would be glad to post it here if anyone wants it.
Real F'n Show - July 13, 2006 08:48 PM (GMT)
I'd prefer two separate lists. I couldn't care less about who TCE posters think are great workers. They'd all probably have CM Punk in their top 10. Fuck TCE.
Also, how many do we have participating this year? 8-9 or so?
Mad Dog - July 13, 2006 08:52 PM (GMT)
I think it would hurt the discussion to combine the lists.

Exactly. Plus, it's suppose to guage OUR board's opinion, not two boards together.
jamiegeist - July 13, 2006 08:58 PM (GMT)
It's all good, that is all you had to say. Just extending the offer.
I'll still be taking part in both, and my list is done.
Real F'n Show - July 13, 2006 08:59 PM (GMT)
Sweet. I just started working on my last night. We might be able to get this started by the end of the month, actually. I'm going on vacation next week, so my list probably won't be done until after that, but I'm still doing one.
whitemilesdavis - July 13, 2006 09:05 PM (GMT)
I can easily compile our lists with the same scoring we had last year. Jamie, if you really want to do it, and can do it quickly and effectively that's cool, but you've taken on a couple of other big projects and didn't carry through. What I'm saying is, I'd love for you to do it, but if it's gonna take a month, or not get done at all, just let me do it again.
jamiegeist - July 13, 2006 09:21 PM (GMT)
Well, considering I've already started and am just waiting on info to input into the sheet, it is going well.
I did my list last night in about an hour, maybe 2, I don't know. I don't see why or how this should take a month or even a week. I just compiled a list of all the workers I could think of from the last year, by purging the rosters online, and using alot of ObsessedwithWrestling. Then I cut it down to 100, and once there, just began ranking.
And I'm not sure what all these projects are that I've started and not carried though with. I can think of the all time tag team tournmane that a did a round of. No one was contributing, so I stopped working on it.
Anything else?
whitemilesdavis - July 13, 2006 10:26 PM (GMT)
Shut up butthole.
Nah, I'm just messing with you.
Just to make sure we are somewhat consistant with last year, how are you gonna average the rankings?
SamoaRowe - July 13, 2006 10:28 PM (GMT)
In the favor of consistency, I'd like to see WMD take care of it again. But I'm cool either way.
Are we still going to do this at the end of August or are we going to do it sooner? I just want to know since I'm going to be heading out of town for two weeks Saturday morning.
Real F'n Show - July 13, 2006 10:34 PM (GMT)
We should set an exact date when everyone needs to have a list in by, and that everyone can agree on.
Mad Dog - July 13, 2006 10:35 PM (GMT)
I think end of August would be good. Gives everyone time to see things and gives us the summer months for more material to see.
SamoaRowe - July 13, 2006 10:37 PM (GMT)
Not only that, but it will even things out since the last list was made. I'm pretty sure if we wait until the end of August, it will have been closer to an exact year since the last one, so everything from September 2005 until August 2006 qualifies for consideration.
Real F'n Show - July 13, 2006 10:38 PM (GMT)
So how's August 31st sound for everyone then?
SamoaRowe - July 13, 2006 10:41 PM (GMT)
whitemilesdavis - July 13, 2006 10:46 PM (GMT)
Cool with me. I know we did the last one after the PWI 500 list came out, but it doesn't matter to me.
jamiegeist - July 14, 2006 03:34 AM (GMT)
Whatever. My list is done. I wasn't wanting to compile the list for DWB. I was asking if you wanted to contribute to the TCE one.
I have already begun compiling it, and we'll be doing it within a week. It takes at best one night to put together a list, so I'm not sure I understand waiting 2 months.
whitemilesdavis - July 14, 2006 12:06 PM (GMT)
Just because we were making it an annual thing, and that's about the time we did it last year. No offense dude, but aren't you being a bit bitchy about this whole thing? Relax man, it's just a stupid little fun thing. Except for the fact that our list is THE definitive list on the net, so we want to make sure to get it right.
Anyway, you should post the TCE list here for us to ridicule.
jamiegeist - July 17, 2006 07:17 AM (GMT)
I'll be glad to post the TCE list here for comparison. Ridicule? Seems a bit childish, sort of like everyone's posts in here on TCE.
The only thing I'm "bitchy" about is the whole "starting projects I don't finish" comment, which you've yet to explain to me, although I asked you to.
Take a look at my original post, which simply said I was taking this concept to TCE as well, and was curious if you guys wanted to combine lists. A simple no works. I never even said I wanted to collect here, but said that I would, in order to combine, if you wanted.
Then people start dropping unprovoked cracks about TCE's crew and how f'd up their list would be. TCE has more quality posters and discussions than DWB will ever hope to have. I love both places, but it is the bottom line. They both have their downfalls as well. Thats life.
whitemilesdavis - July 17, 2006 12:24 PM (GMT)
Geez. Someone doesn't understand good natured ribbing.

The tag team tourney, which you mentioned yourself, so I didn't see reason to be repetitive. I also pointed out that I was just goofing around, so lighten up.

Real F'n Show made one obviously sarcastic comment. Other than that I see no cracks about TCE.

Seriously man, as far as I'm concerned, that's uncalled for. The people who are here, are here because we want to be here. AKA, we like it this way. I've got no problem with TCE other than the fact that you're acting like a douche about it.

If that's the way you feel, then fucking roll then. We existed before you were here and we'll do it after.
whitemilesdavis - July 17, 2006 05:01 PM (GMT)
I've got to say this, too.
TCE's greatest claim to fame is OPENLY stealing two of our ideas.
Therefore, quantity of posters, I can't argue, but I'll put our quality up with anybody.
jamiegeist - July 17, 2006 07:25 PM (GMT)
Listen, alot of people here exist in two or more different communities, and it isn't a big deal. You talked shit on a place I've become very fond of, and I felt the need to defend it (as I would DWB, in the same situation.)
When I talk about quantity I'm not necessarily talking about the number of posters, because even if theirs is quite high, they have alot of bullshit clogging it up as well. However, there is much more discussion, just generally speaking, which I like.
There are many times you can log on DWB and there hasn't been but 5 new posts, all day long. DWB is smaller, has less posters, many of which are busy alot of the time. It's an alternative. It doesn't have to be "better" than they other, it is just different.
And their "claim to fame" (as if an internet messageboard has one) is hardly stealing 2 of our ideas. Their NWA crumbled within weeks, so that is a moot point, and I'm not sure of the other idea that they stole.
We are all allowed to have our opinion, and talk about it where we want. I like it here, and I like it there. Nothing wrong with that. This all started because I asked if you'd like to collaborate lists, and people took some potshots at TCE. No reason to disrespect another board and talk some lame "board war" shit, when they have literally done nothing to you.
whitemilesdavis - July 17, 2006 07:46 PM (GMT)
You know the first time I heard of TCE? When YOU started a thread mentioning it entitled BOARD WAR. The second idea stolen was THIS idea.
jamiegeist - July 17, 2006 08:08 PM (GMT)
The whole Board War was an f'n joke. Which I'm pretty sure is obvious in the thread, but maybe I'm wrong.
And if you want to call me coming on here and telling you that I'm gonna do a top 100 at TCE "stealing", than feel free to be that guy. I just liked the idea, and wanted to do it with a larger group of people, and get even more input.
Cage flat out stole the NWA. He took the setup posts, the rules, regulations, and just copied them verbatim. He was a little bastard.
whitemilesdavis - July 17, 2006 08:19 PM (GMT)
I realize that it was a joke, but it shouldn't be so offensive to you when someone else makes a joke about them too.
And yes, taking our idea to another board is stealing it. It doesn't bother me, I was just pointing out that for all the superior posters that they suposedly have, you still have to come here for ideas to talk about.
Seriously, you sound like a 14 year old with an ugly girlfriend. You KNOW she's ugly, but if somebody else points that out, it just cuts to the bone. Now, you may go back to spooning with Cage Classic. Maybe he can point out the 50 greatest moments in Brokeback Mountain history. Maybe you can encourage him not to plagiarize this time.
dynamite kido - July 17, 2006 08:21 PM (GMT)
At this point I don't think that this thread is serving it's purpose. Nobody is right and nobody is wrong. If this keeps up, I'm closing the thread.
jamiegeist - July 17, 2006 08:30 PM (GMT)
Sounds good, and yes, it is no longer serving it's purpose. I've said what there is to say about it.
So, when you all get done with the DWB Top 100, I'll then post the TCE Top 100, just for comparison's sake.
whitemilesdavis - July 17, 2006 08:33 PM (GMT)
What kind of soft crap is that? Nobody is right or wrong? Screw that, jamiegeist is wrong. He's gonna get all bent out of shape because someone points out the obvious truth, which is TCE sucks?
I appreciate that you are trying to keep the peace and all, but don't let it be at the expense of your manhood.
whitemilesdavis - July 17, 2006 08:36 PM (GMT)
I also want to quickly point out one more thing before this gets closed.
If you think this place isn't active enough, contribute more. Instead of taking our ideas elsewhere, how about bringing new ideas here?
Cage Classic - July 17, 2006 09:01 PM (GMT)
Okay, I've been sitting back and haven't said a damn word out of respect for Real F'n Show who I had no problem with to begin with and to all the other posters here. The one thing I hate the most is a board war, and I kind of looked at this place as somewhat of a different, and friendly board. A complete alternative from TCE. I joined up here in December because I was looking for a new board to frequent and when I joined, I realized that these guys look like a good set of dudes, so I'll stick around. But what Jamie said is completely true. You have 3 active members here, and about 25 posts per month between you. Nobody at all has taken a pot shot at DWB from TCE, or anything else. The fact that you've all felt the need to be rude about where Jamie posts or not and throwing tissy fits is pathetic.
I stole your idea? Newsflash, pal. That shit had been tossed around when Jamie and I talked about it and I was supposed to be involved in the one that's going down here. But I politely declined because 1. I tried posting a real diary here and it got next to no feedback whatsoever and it disgusted me. And it's not just me either, it's other people's too. 2. I thought that would be a downfall to said concept and contemplated bringing it to TCE. If you all think that nobody else has done something like that, then you're wrong. Ever heard of a multiplayer game on TEW? That shit is so easy to set up, that it's ridiculous. You may think you're being innovative, but you're not. Yes, I was a lazy twat and took the set ups and all that other shit, and ended up giving credit where credit was due upon rant from Geist, but bottom line, the idea = not as original as you think, peeps. Yes, our NWA died, but the time that it was running, we got more feedback from everyone than you guys have provided to each other, ever. It's called being supportive. That's why Jamie brought his old WWE diary to TCE and that's why he brought his CSW diary to TCE. His shit is better appreciated there to the point that it was basically voted diary of the month. He gets feedback, discussion, etc. Do you have that?
You want to talk our greatest claim to fame? How about actually brining quality discussion and posters to the forum? How about the fact that every single section of discussion that we offer is active. We have activity, and you don't. Why get pissy about it if you know it's the truth. He was trying to do something to get the fun involved with everyone. A simple "no" would have sufficed, but it had to turn into a bash on myself and my board which in 11 months has come to topple anything DWB has/does/can offer. I just refresh the thread because Jamie tells me that WMD has gone overboard. You actually have the gall to say that TCE sucks? For what? How do we suck is what I'd like to know. Do we suck because in one day, we make more posts than you do in a month. The fact that our members are active. Your Diary Dome is dead as fuck, but ours is booming with active diaries, feedback, predix and the whole enchilada. Bottom line is, we "suck", and you're jealous that someone you thought was a quality member here at DWB saw the light and jumped to a place where his work is not only appreciated, but when he has something to discuss, the topic won't run dead and stay dead after an hour. That's why he doesn't contribute more to TCE. Why make a bunch of discussion when it's gonna die. You don't He knows TCE and DWB well having posted at both for a nice period of time, and is a grown ass man to form his own opinion. However, his opinion happens to be the truth. "TCE has better quality and more posters than DWB could even hope to have." I dare you to find a way to turn that about.
Like I said, nobody was being an immature dick about anything. A simple question could have been replied with a simple "no", but it has to go from "Fuck TCE" to "00OOH!1 CAG3 CAN T0TALLIE D0 DA HIZTURY 0F T3H BR0KEBUCK MUNTAN!1ONE!12!" Seriously, grow up. We don't hate you, but for some reason you all seem to hate us which brings me back to the jealousy bit. If you want to bitch about us, get a couple of more posters and get some real discussion going. Not the same watered down shit that festers in each folder for a month and a half. Your 10 newest topics in your General Discussion folder are ranging between now and fucking early June. EARLY JUNE?! This is a discussion board, or lacktherof in DWB's case. Hate me if you want, but I pride TCE off of activity. Nobody wants to post at an inactive, stale and boring board. Especially with ones that are mostly pretentious pricks who think they know wrestling and that nobody else does.
So bottom line, where the hatred came from, I've got no idea. But now that I've said my piece and rightfully defended myself and my board, maybe you'll think twice next time because right now, it's like a turd talking shit to a goldmine. Gold can be polished, but shit can't be. Lock it, keep up with the lame ass insults, but I suspect shit will probably get worse for the simple fact that myself and jamie speak the truth and none of you like it because of that age old, time tested quote -- "The truth hurts".
Ain't it a bitch?
dynamite kido - July 17, 2006 09:45 PM (GMT)
Great, well pride your ass back to TCE.
This shit is closed motherfuckers. If you have anything else to say about it, take it to the flame wars.
