Real F'n Show - July 8, 2006 12:26 AM (GMT)
7/6 episode was pretty fun. Homicide looked really good in there with Sonjay, hitting most of his stuff very crisply. Main event was damn fun too, and the Steiner/Joe brawling was the highlight of the show. I also liked the Sting/Jarrett stuff on the other side of the building, leaving Christian in the ring to stare down the title. Oh, and Joe's promo was fucking awesome.
Mad Dog - July 8, 2006 05:35 AM (GMT)
I like the Nash/Shelley/Devine stable too. Good episde as usual. I'm going to take a second look at the main event for possibly making the 2006 DVD.
Real F'n Show - July 13, 2006 10:55 PM (GMT)
Tonight's show looks pretty good with:
Abyss vs. Norman Smiley
Jerelle Clark vs. Low Ki
AJ Styles and Chris Daniels vs. Alex Shelley and Johnny Devine
Team 3D, Rhino, and Jay Lethal vs. Team Canada.
Knowing, Low Ki, AJ Styles, Chris Daniels, Alex Shelley, and Jay Lethal will all be on TV this week already makes this better than Raw.

I'll say! I hope I don't forget to watch tonight.
dynamite kido - July 14, 2006 12:51 AM (GMT)
It does look rather good.......but I rarely miss Impact anyway.
jamiegeist - July 21, 2006 05:50 AM (GMT)
Dude, Impact this week was GREAT. I feel like I've said it a few times, but I really mean it this time: Best Impact ever.
Their direction is great, their build is perfect, and they're doing the little things right. No overacting table segment from the dorky announcers, and every segment had a distinct purpose:
Open with Lethal exiting Sting's locker room. Puts over Lethal, gets him on TV, and shows that Sting is the Ultimate dumb face, encouraging people to go for the title he is after. Ah, good ole Sting.
Naturals v Kazarian/Maverick Matt -- Seriously, "Maverick Matt" is horrible. Get rid of the silly name. Kazarian looked great. Like a talented Randy Orton. Segment put over the Naturals, and the hard love angle with Douglas. It'll build them into a serious player of the tag team division again.
Backstage again with Borash, with purpose, still waiting for Sting, and we get a great Eric Young tidbit, without devoting an entire segment to it.
Double J paranoid at ringside. Great saying that Jay Lethal wasn't even in his division, because of the main event execution.
Shelley-Devine-Nash is fuckin GOLD. I love this shit, and Nash is the man. It continues, and does it well.
Rhino squash works great here, as he mentions his open challenge. JOE ANSWERS. Awesome, but the editing was very weird here. Nice segment with two guys looking to get ahead, and wanting to go through each other. Pull apart brawl is perfect here. And it sets up a HUGE TV Main Event next week. I am seriously interested in Rhino/Joe.
Team 3D/Runt segment is great. Gets rid of Team 3D, much needed. And puts Runt over as kind of a pyscho little guy who can't stay out of trouble, which will lead to fun things. Also, great use of getting JB there for a reasons. Nice work.
AMW showing more dissention, and Gail Kim making the challenge to Zelda or whatever. Match will blow, but Gail in the ring is good, and look, a full month ahead of time.
Daniels/Styles segment was segment of the night, and it is awesome to finally have a real angle around the Tag Team Titles, not to mention the talented workers involved. Open contracts is great, and the luring into the trap by Konnan was perfect. Homicide hitting the Cop Killa and K-Dogg signing the contract in blood is icing on the cake. Beautiful.
Good segment with Larry, still putting him over. Not sure where it goes, but it has a purpose in showing Cornette is doing things differently than Larry would have, putting Rhino/Joe on next week. Nice.
Bobby Roode promo was really good. Frankly, I'd take Petey Williams as the star to come out, but what do I know.
Main Event. Criminally short at just about 9 minutes, but easily the best Impact match since the Daniels/Joe opener a few months ago. Lethal was beleivable, Jarrett can still go, and it had some great close falls by Lethal, and wonderful offense all around. Jarrett even spared me the Stroke, by at least hitting it off the middle rope. Steiner figured in perfect, and Lethal really came off like a star.
Closing with Christian at Sting's locker room is just brilliant. He mentions that we just saw the Main Event, and Steiner can't mind his own business. Perfect set up showing Christian with the "good intentions", only to smack Sting like a fuckin bug at the PPV. I can't wait.
Like I said, this show had direction and purpose all over it for the first time in a long time, and was the best Impact yet. I'm jacked that we're on the first Impact, with 3 matches already set for Hard Justice:
World Title: Jarrett v Sting
Tag Team Titles: Styles/Daniels v LAX
Gail Kim v Sirelda, or whatever.
whitemilesdavis - July 21, 2006 12:10 PM (GMT)
Dang, thanks for the report. It's refreshing to see someone actually enjoy wrestling for a change. I didn't watch it last night, but I'll have to get the replay. I'm interested to see Lethal in the main event, because I wasn't even sure he was ready for tv, much less the main, but it sounds fun.
Rhino/ Joe is definitely intriguing, and it's funny that Joe is the one giving these veterans the rub. Anyone he is in there with is instantly interesting. Rhino needs a program, because it was stupid to drop him down the card after he won the title last year.
It's good that Kazarian is back. Hopefully, he can be a fresh face in the x-division for a while and be a possible future main eventer.
dynamite kido - July 21, 2006 12:56 PM (GMT)
I agree 100% with Geist on this one. I REALLY dug impact last night. The Rhino/Joe confrontation rocked socks, and it's funny because me and a friend both mentioned how we'd love to see that feud.
Eric Young's new deal is awesome. It's amazing how much charisma he has and it's nice to see him getting treated like a star.
The LAX/Daniels/Styles confrontation was BAD FUCKING ASS. That's the way to build up feuds in wrestling. They signed the damn contract IN BLOOD. I'm really looking forward to this one.
Lethal/JJ was a solid match as well, and I really hope TNA notes how well Lethal does in the underdog role. I'd love to see them start a Low Ki/Lethal feud PRONTO.
One thing I was annoyed by is that they look to be going for the Gail Kim vs. Big ass broad that's cool with AJ/Daniels at the PPV. Boo-urns.
I also thought it was cool to see Spike's sinister look as the Dudleys told him to behaive while they are on hiatus. I know why and I won't give any spoilers but all I have to say is remember Spike vs. Bam Bam in ECW? They are going to do the TNA equivalent of that....

I don't even mind that, if Gail does her cool submission style she was working at the end of her WWE run.
Eric Young is a guy that I'm yet to be sold on. I find him entertaining, but I wonder if he'll be able to keep it up in an expanded role.

Dude, the last thing I wanna see is MORE shitty women's wrestling. Gail's athletic, but she can't work for shit. The other chick is fucking a million times worse.
Young should be able to keep doing it. He's steadily been a part of the roster now for a couple of years and is one of the best bumpers in wrestling in the US today. Also with the new personality he should be good in and out of the ring. I have total faith that he'll do fine.

I disagree about Gail. After she got injured in one of her first matches, I thought she was working out good after that. I'll keep in mind that she was usually in the ring with Molly, who I truelly believe is the best woman worker in the history of US wrestling. I haven't seen the other girl at all, but you are probably right about her skill. I'm interested to see Gail working again, but it probably shouldn't occupy a spot on a PPV just yet.
Right now, I would compare Eric Young to a young Chris Jericho. I just hope he proves to be more than a one-trick pony when he gets a little more deeply involved in a serious angle. I have my doubts, but I won't cast judgement yet.
dynamite kido - July 21, 2006 03:00 PM (GMT)
See, I'm incredibly tough on women in the US because of my experiences watching Joshi. They are nowhere near the level and honestly, women's wrestling in the US is downright embarassing. I've never seen ANY examples of Gail being able to work. Now, I'll admit that being in the WWE is a poor gauge of that, but if I'm wrong I'll admit it.
I know what you're saying about Young but the awesome thing is that we'll be able to see his progression. It would be nice to see him get in there with some good opponents to see how he keeps up as well.
whitemilesdavis - July 21, 2006 03:24 PM (GMT)
The fact that I rank Molly Holly as the best women's wrestler ever shows what I think about women's wrestling.

Dude, next time you pick up stuff off of me. You should totally check out AJPW Dreamslam. It's Joshi, and I'll be damned if it's not the BEST wrestling show I've ever seen.
By the way, I was getting some more of your stuff yesterday and obviously noticed that you picked up those J-Cups. You ever see them before?
whitemilesdavis - July 21, 2006 03:53 PM (GMT)
The only matches I've seen were from Benoit's DVD. I've been meaning to pick them up for ages.
I've checked out some Joshi on youtube, and I really have trouble getting into it. I've just been turned off by women wrestling in the US. Given your recommendation, though, I'll probably check that show out some day.
jamiegeist - July 21, 2006 04:30 PM (GMT)
You keep saying "U.S. Women's Wrestling" when in fact you should be talking about WWE or TNA women's wrestling. Because the stuff I've seen on ROH is most definitely not shitty, and lately they've been integrating more and more women's matches on their cards, via Shimmer. It is hands down the best women's wrestling I've ever seen.
Granted I've never seen Joshi, but I just wanted to make sure you didn't lump those gals in with the "divas" cause that shit isn't fair.

I don't lump that in with WWE women's wrestling. But I've seen shimmer and other women's indy wrestling and I think it's the shits as well. I'll admit I'm incredibly hard on women's wrestling and if you've seen Joshi, you would totally understand.
It's almost like Women's basketball for me. They have talent, and can shoot their asses off. But it's NOTHING compared to the men's game IMO.
dynamite kido - July 21, 2006 04:47 PM (GMT)
By the way WMD, and not to get TOO far off topic here.....but you are gonna be lovin those J-Cups bro. AWESOME stuff. Those were the shows that got me into Puro......ahhhhh, memories.
jamiegeist - July 21, 2006 04:50 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I still have my J-cups, although I would almost recommend watching 95 first, cause you will only be disapointed if you watch it second.
Assuming you're talking about 94 and 95.
dynamite kido - July 21, 2006 05:03 PM (GMT)
I'm a stickler for order, so I would go in their cronological order. But you do have a point.
whitemilesdavis - July 21, 2006 07:43 PM (GMT)
I know enough about both that order isn't really gonna matter. I'll probably watch 94 first because I've heard of how great it is.
dynamite kido - July 21, 2006 07:48 PM (GMT)
oh, they both fucking rock so it really doesn't matter.
When I was converting the other day i caught the Benoit/Jericho match from the 95 one. AWESOME stuff. Not even the best match, but I was still diggin it.
prof_plague - July 25, 2006 04:25 PM (GMT)
I just wanted to check, is the new angle with Nash, "Kevin Nash: The Next X Champion"?
Big F'N Swigg - July 26, 2006 07:45 PM (GMT)
jamiegeist - July 26, 2006 07:54 PM (GMT)
SHUT THE Front Door!
I liked Nash's line about the Garden.
Shelley: "Does the Garden even hold 29,000?"
Nash: "It did that night."
whitemilesdavis - July 26, 2006 07:56 PM (GMT)
Yeah I watched that earlier this morning.
Crap, jamie beat me to the punch.
Big F'N Swigg - July 26, 2006 09:58 PM (GMT)
I enjoyed it because it showcases Nash, Shelley and Devine as the kind of guys that will do/say anything just to make themselves look better. It's good heel-character building stuff.
whitemilesdavis - July 26, 2006 10:52 PM (GMT)
They need to dump devine. The stable wasn't established enough to add a third member, and honestly, what does he add? Everyone has been asking, "Who is going to get over because of this angle?" I think the answer is now obviously Alex Shelley. He holds his own with a very funny Kevin Nash, and Nash treats him as if they are on the same level.
Mad Dog - July 26, 2006 11:14 PM (GMT)
I think they explained Devine's inclusion pretty well. And it helps to keep Nash out of the ring more by having a third member.
You figure Aries and Strong are probably kicking themselves seeing the kind of push that Shelley has gotten since they fucked up.
jamiegeist - July 27, 2006 04:30 AM (GMT)
Devine works fine with me, and it works better as a bit of a stable instead of "Shelley & Nash". They are a loveable group of heels, and I can only hope that eventually Nash loses (due to Devine backfire) and kicks the shit out of him, booting him from the group. I think that is his purpose.
Then somehow has an encounter with Shelley, and beats the shit out of him. Thanks to Shelley's charisma, Shelley becomes uber-face, and goes on to finally be the X guy to beat Nash's ass.
whitemilesdavis - July 27, 2006 11:43 AM (GMT)
That is actually the perfect scenario, which I hadn't thought about yet. Nobody else in the x-div has the upside that Shelley has anyway.
whitemilesdavis - July 27, 2006 03:14 PM (GMT)
I've been cracking up all morning about that part where Nash asks if the x guys drink or smoke or watch porn. That part is hilarious.

There is one guy that is close, Jay Lethal. Normally I woundn't say that, but seeing how well he plays the underdog role, he should be the guy going for the X-division title right about now

It's hilarious, and it puts all the X Division guys over as true atheletes and clean babyfaces. It's actually something I found to be impressive from Nash.
dynamite kido - July 28, 2006 04:28 PM (GMT)
Anyone catch Impact last night?
I thought it was average at best. But Nash is still one funny ass motherfucker.
Real F'n Show - July 29, 2006 12:16 AM (GMT)
Fuck yes. Especially the part where he was talking about what he was practicing in his pool. With 3 somersaults. Te repeated clubs to the back was hysterical too. Especially with Shelley all like "...Okay...that was eerily similar to the last one..." Oh, and Somalian Joe...Great stuff.

It wasn't the somersault part that I found funny the most, it was the:
Shelley: I learned this in Mexico, I call this the A-2 (or whatever it was.) :Does the move: OK, now you try.
Nash: OK. :Forearms the dummy on the back.:
Shelley: OK, that wasn't it, but close enough. Let's try this move instead. This is a Scarecrow Submission (or whatever it was). :Does the move.: Now you try.
Nash: OK. :Forearms the dummy on the back.:
Shelley: Um, I'm pretty sure you just did the same move.
