Title: Angles on Hiatus

So much for Angle carrying ECW or any other brand. All the sites are reporting that he suddenly decided to take a break, ruining the long-term plans for him in ECW. Chances are this is due to the "personal reasons" that have been the worst kept secret in the biz the past couple of years. Anyway, his clean loss to RVD was their way of writing him out and having him put over someone on his way out the door. No timetable set for his return, but it's likely to be a while. Hopefully he gets himself cleaned up while he's gone and we don't log on one day to see headlines of his death like we did with so many others.

Who is the dope who wrote that quote?

Who knows. But I have seen the same reports everywhere. Angle's official reason for taking the hiatus is because of his lingering injuries, though some might say he hasn't passed the WWE's new health plan screening. As much as I enjoy watching Angle perform, I do think this is for the best. His neck has been a ticking timebomb for the past three years and he has been aging so fast it's been scary. I hope that if he does come back to wrestling it will be after he really has healed up and he won't ever force himself to work the grueling full-time schedule ever again.

Know what I want? Angle to meet Dynamite Kid. DK lives in a one bedroomed flat in a wheelchair, with one leg. That, sadly, is Angle's future. Some telling him this to his face, is the only option. No one's gonna be pissed at Kurt if he decided to call it a day

I don't necessarily think Dynamite's future is Angle's future... the same way Daryl Stingley's future wasn't the future of Don Beebe (quick history: Stingley was an NFL wide receiver who was paralyzed after being hit in a game. Beebe came about 12 years later and got the crap knocked out of him in almost every game). Cold Stone had a buncha' neck problems and he's still alive and kicking.

Stone Cold was also smart enough to walk away while he still could. And at least while he was still an active competitor, he adjusted his style to help preserve his neck. Outside of 2004, I have not seen Angle doing much differently to do the same, aside from not doing the moonsault on a regular basis.
