NEW: River Rumble
June 25th 2006

The show opens with The Rock arriving at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH. The Rock steps out of a limousine, looks up at the arena, and heads in confidently. He is in for the fight of his life tonight, as he steps into the squared circle against an out of control Chris Jericho for the NEW World Championship.

98%

A special intro airs, recapping the NEW Championship tournament (minus the Corino/JBL match). http://www.i2.ca/tournawiz/16draw.php?id=10&uid=samoarowe

Ernie Rowe and Professor Plague welcome us to River Rumble, the first ever mega event in NEW history! Since this is not airing on television, they start off by thanking anyone who has purchased the DVD. There is a huge lineup tonight, including the crowning of the first ever NEW Tag Team and World champions, as well as the first ever Wrestlecrap match, featuring Ric Flair and Mick Foley.

Match One: Brian Kendrick, Sonjay Dutt, and Jerrelle Clark vs Snitsky, Andrew Martin, and Gregory Helms

Kendrick, Dutt, and Clark are representing New England Wrestling in NWA: Mexico’s trios tournament, so they are on display here at River Rumble! Kendrick and Dutt put on a small man vs. big man clinic, as they manage to out maneuver Snitsky and Martin, keeping themselves from being caught in any big power moves. Strangely enough, it is Helms who ends up taking control of Jerrelle Clark for a bit. Helms hits the Shining Wizard on Clark, but his pinfall attempt is interrupted by Brian Kendrick. This leads to a sequence of “everyone hits their finisher.” Martin puts the big boot on Dutt, Clark hits a 630 splash on Helms, and Brian Kendrick hits the Sliced Bread #2 on Snitsky for the win at 5:45!

Winners: Brian Kendrick, Sonjay Dutt, and Jerrelle Clark, **1/2 (70/60/81)

Rowe: Team NEW looked damn good tonight! They are sure to impress in the upcoming trios tournament in NWA: Mexico.

Plague: This match makes me wonder when Snitsky is gonna stop clowning around and become a serious competitor.

Rowe: Coming up next is a battle between two of the giants of New England Wrestling. Kane will face the Big Show!

Plague: This one has been brewing since day one of NEW, when Kane allowed his partner, Big Show, to be put through a table by Team 3D!

Match Two: Big Show vs Kane

The two lumbering giants stare each other down for a few seconds before Kane mounts an offense. Big Show strikes back, signaling the crowd to quiet down so they can hear the impact. This pisses Kane off, who clotheslines Big Show over the ropes. The two men brawl at ringside, almost to the point of being counted out. They return to the ring where Big Show goes for the Chokeslam from Hell, but Kane counters with a Chokeslam attempt of his own. Both men struggle for a few moments, with both their hands around each other’s throats. Kane pushes Show into the ropes and goes for the big boot. Show dodges the boot and catches Kane by the throat and Chokeslams him straight to hell! Big Show covers Kane and gets the victory at 7:00!

Winner: Big Show, **3/4 (82/87/77)

Rowe: Amazing, Big Show just broke Kane’s undefeated streak here in NEW.

Plague: Kane is not going to take this loss well. I wouldn’t be surprised if he never showed his face in these parts again.

Rowe: I don’t see why, there is no shame in losing to a seven foot tall man who also weighs 500 pounds! But alas, to each his own.

Plague: Up next is The Undertaker vs. Sonny Siaki! Siaki challenged The Undertaker to this match tonight last night on NEW Saturday Night.

Rowe: I don’t know whether Siaki is brave or incredibly foolish, but he badly wants to establish himself as a top guy in NEW, and if he can somehow defeat The Undertaker, he just might be on his way to achieving that status.

Match Three: The Undertaker vs Sonny Siaki

Siaki makes his entrance first, and looks to be in a state of nervous excitement. Undertaker makes his motorcycle entrance and storms the ring. Undertaker unleashes a blaze of fury on Siaki, pummeling him with some strong rights and lefts. Siaki pokes Undertaker in the eyes and takes the offense, to which the Undertaker proceeds to absolutely no sell everything Siaki does. Siaki appears irritated and goes for an abdominal stretch on ‘Taker, but it fails and Undertaker goes for the Last Ride. As ‘Taker lifts him over his shoulders, Siaki counters the move and lands right on the chest of the Undertaker, conveniently near the ropes. Siaki grabs the ropes for leverage in an improvised pinfall attempt, and the referee doesn’t notice and gives Siaki the victory at 5:45.

Winner: Sonny Siaki, * (71/79/63)

Rowe: Sonny Siaki just stole the victory from the Undertaker! Is the referee blind?

Plague: It doesn’t matter, Siaki had the Undertaker beaten, we all saw it with our own eyes.

Rowe: Siaki may have won, but it was by cheap means. This will come back to haunt Siaki, I promise you that.

Plague: Well, up next is the triple threat tag team match to crown the first ever NEW Tag Team Champions!

Rowe: There is some bad blood brewing between two of the three teams, America’s Most Wanted and Team 3D.

Plague: But you cannot forget about the Basham Brothers! If AMW and Team 3D focus too much on beating each other, the Bashams could easily take the win and the titles!

Match Four: Team 3D vs America's Most Wanted vs The Basham Brothers (NEW Tag Team Championship)

As Plague predicted, Team 3D and AMW start off by pretty much ignoring the Bashams to have their own feud. The Bashams are enjoying this at first, as they stand back and watch the other two teams brawl all over the ringside area. The fun and games ends when Brother Raw whips James Storm into the apron where the Bashams were standing, and both Bashams fall and hit the barricade. The Bashams aggressively take on Team 3D as well, as a four on two beat down begins. The Bashams Irish whip Brother Ray into the steel steps head first, busting him open right away. On the other side of the ring, AMW hits a modified Death Sentence (using the barricade) on Brother Devon. With Team 3D temporarily out, the match turns into a two on two match between AMW and the Basham Brothers. AMW takes control of Doug Basham and doesn’t let him make any tags to Danny for several minutes. When Doug finally makes the tag, Danny Basham cleans house on AMW, but is taken down by an unexpected drop kick from Chris Harris. AMW hits the Death Sentence on Danny, but Team 3D are back up and break up the pinfall. This is where the mayhem picks up as Team 3D toss the Bashams over the ropes and hit the 3D on James Storm. Brother Ray is the legal man and goes for the cover, but Harris breaks it up. Harris hits the Catatonic on Brother Ray and pins him for the win at 18:55! As a measure of revenge, after the match Team 3D puts both members of AMW through tables to the delight of the audience.

Winners and first ever NEW Tag Team Champions: America’s Most Wanted, ***3/4 (84/81/87)

Rowe: America’s Most Wanted are the NEW Tag Team Champions!

Plague: They don’t look like champions to me, they just got planted through tables by Team 3D!

Rowe: I can’t say I blame Team 3D, AMW has given them a lot of grief since debuting here in New England Wrestling.

JBL’s music hits the sound system and out comes John Bradshaw Layfield! He looks to be in high spirits. He heads to the ring and takes a microphone.

In-ring segment featuring JBL

JBL: One week ago I made an open challenge to the roster of NWA: Central States Wrestling. It was simple, I said any one of them could show up here tonight and take me on. And it is my great pleasure to tell you all that not a single member of the CSW roster is out back. I looked everywhere and could not a single one of those cowards. Thus, since no one from CSW was man enough to take me on tonight, I declare myself the winner of this match, with my opponent being the entire CSW locker-room. That’s right, folks, JBL has beaten the entire CSW roster, play my music!

However, instead of JBL’s music, another familiar tune hits the airwaves. JBL looks up in terror as NWA: CSW star, SAMOA JOE, comes down the ramp to the ring!

Rowe: Its Samoa Joe! Samoa Joe has come to defend the honor of NWA: CSW! He has come to silence JBL!

Match Five: John Bradshaw Layfield vs Samoa Joe

JBL has been caught by surprise in the biggest of ways. He pleads with Joe to spare him, to which Joe responds with a boot to JBL’s skull. JBL slumps into the corner, where JBL wipes his feet on JBL’s face and hits a running kick to the head. JBL escapes from the ring for a breather, but Joe follows after him. Joe goes for an Irish whip, but JBL counters and sends Joe flying into the ring post face first. JBL is suddenly confident and tosses Joe back into the ring. JBL hits some big elbow drops and puts Joe in a sleeper. Joe manages to escape and hits some vicious chops on JBL. JBL fights back with some punches and they exchange a series of stiff shots. Joe misses a clothesline and JBL takes advantage, hitting a big fallaway slam on Joe! JBL goes for the cover, but Joe gets a shoulder up. Frustrated, JBL whips Joe into the ropes and hits the Clothesline from Hell! JBL goes for another cover, but Joe kicks out!! Now Joe is pissed off and blocks all of JBL’s punches. Joe sets up JBL for the musclebuster, but JBL escapes and jumps down to ringside. Joe pursues JBL, but doesn’t see that JBL has grabbed a chair. JBL cracks the chair over Joe’s head, earning him a disqualification loss at 13:15! JBL laughs, but Joe gets right back up, with blood pouring down his face. JBL charges with the chair again, but Joe punches the chair into JBL’s face. Now JBL is busted open, and the brawl continues. They brawl all the way up the ramp, disappearing into the backstage area.

Winner by DQ: Samoa Joe, **3/4 (81/84/78)

Rowe: That was a hellacious match!

Plague: That’s what happens when someone from CSW gets involved in New England Wrestling, they end up bleeding.

Rowe: JBL was pretty bloodied up by the end of that too, or are you forgetting?

Plague: You know, for the owner of New England Wrestling, you are sure sticking up for CSW quite a bit!

Rowe: I enjoy some healthy competition, besides you know I cannot stand JBL. But I would like to take this time to announce that on July 2nd, the National Wrestling Alliance will be holding the annual Great American Bash, live on pay-per-view! This event will be huge indeed, it will feature a six man tag team match, featuring six representatives from different territories of the NWA. The winning team will then compete in a triple threat match to crown a brand new NWA World Champion!

Plague: That is big news!

Rowe: Not only that, but I’m extending an offer to Samoa Joe for the Great American Bash. I’m offering him the chance to wrestle JBL in a rematch, I want to see a winner, dammit!

Plague: Anyways, up next is a war between brothers.

Rowe: That’s right; it’s Edge against his brother, Christian. I am starting to think that NEW might not be big enough for the both of them!

A video package hyping this feud airs, featuring Edge spearing a secretly protected Christian, footage from the Edge/Helms vs. Christian/Shark Boy match, and the other assorted attacks and run ins.

Match Six: Edge vs Christian Cage

Christian makes his entrance first. As Edge comes out, Christian doesn’t even wait, he charges up the ramp and they start brawling right away. Christian gets some shots in on Edge, but Edge fights back by slamming Christian’s head into the set. They brawl their way back to the ring and the match is officially underway! They tie up, with Edge getting the advantage. Edge stretches Christian’s back, but Christian comes back with some arm wrenches and they manage to put on a technical wrestling display for a few minutes. This ends when Edge hits a spinning kick on Christian and heads to the top rope. Edge goes for a flying crossbody, but Christian moves out of the way. Christian wraps Edge’s legs up in the ring post. Christian drives Edge’s knee into the ring post, causing Edge to shriek in pain. Christian aggressively focuses on Edge’s knee for several minutes until Edge hits a low blow and begins an assault on the lower back of Christian. Edge puts Christian into a painful surfboard stretch and Christian almost has to submit. Christian miraculously gets a leg on the bottom rope and they separate. Edge takes a moment to remove the padding from the top turnbuckle, and goes to slingshot Christian into it. Christian counters and ends up hitting the Unprettier! Christian goes for the cover and gets the victory at 15:23! Edge is beside himself, but Christian offers a handshake, perhaps a truce in their feud. Edge accepts the handshake… but then flapjacks Christian onto the exposed turnbuckle! Christian is down and out as Edge poses over his fallen brother.

Winner: Christian Cage, ****1/4 (90/85/95)

Rowe: That rat bastard, Edge! He is an embarrassment to New England Wrestling!

Plague: You gotta admit though, it was a good match, even if Christian did win.

Rowe: It was a good match indeed. And you know what? I think these two should wrestle again. I say let the rematch happen at the Great American Bash! Only this time, the loser must leave NEW!

Plague: Are you serious?

Rowe: Why not! I’m the owner of this company, and I’m sure our General Manager, Eric Bischoff, will back me up on this one!

Plague: Okay… now coming up next is the biggest atrocity in our sport’s history! The legendary Ric Flair is being forced to compete in the first ever Wrestlecrap match!

Rowe: I would have to disagree with you, Plague, Flair is simply getting what’s coming to him.

Match Seven: Mick Foley vs Ric Flair (Wrestlecrap match)

This is a Dog Kennel from Hell match as well as a Dog Poo match. The Kennel from Hell has been set up on the right hand side of the stage. There is a ring set up in a cage within a cage. The outer cage has some Dobermans lurking about, pooping freely. The inside cage has a ring, and around the ring is piles upon piles of dog poo (though to the untrained eye, it appears to just be generic mud). There is a special ladder in place for the competitors to get to the ring in the first place. The only way to win this match is to toss your opponent over the ropes, into the piles of dog poo. Also, the loser must spend the next month performing under the gimmick each man rejected years ago. Ric Flair would have to become Spartacus, while Mick Foley would have to become Mason the Mutilator.

Mick Foley comes out first and he looks to be in good spirits. Flair comes out next and he looks disgusted by the whole thing. As both men reach the ring, the ladder (and their only means of exit) is removed and the match is underway! Foley starts off brawling with Flair, who responds with some chops. Foley tries to toss Flair over the ropes in the early going, but Flair barely hangs on to the ropes. It was a close call, he practically skinned the cat. This fires Flair up, as he hits some more vicious chops on Foley. Flair pokes Foley in the eyes and hits a low blow, since there are technically no disqualifications. Flair puts Foley into the figure four. Foley is in severe pain, but cannot escape or reverse it. Still, Foley is too proud to tap out, even though it wouldn’t have been a loss. Flair keeps the hold on until he is confident that he can toss Foley into the poo with ease. Flair drags Foley to the ropes and drapes him on the top rope. Flair charges at Foley to clothesline him into the poo. However, Foley reverses this into a big back body drop and Flair falls ten feet right into a big pile of dog poo! Foley has won this bizarre comedy match at 7:59! Flair is horrified and climbs the cage, but is then stuck between the piles of dog poo and the vicious Dobermans on the other side. Foley waves to Flair and plays to the crowd.

Winner: Mick Foley, **3/4 (86/97/74)

Plague: That was, without a doubt, the crappiest match I have ever witnessed!

Rowe: It lived up to the hype and did the “Wrestlecrap” name justice! Now Flair must perform as Spartacus for the next month!

Plague: No, someone reverse the decision!

Rowe: Absolutely not! And I’m going to just go on the record and state that if I catch you referring to Spartacus as “Ric Flair” within the next 30 days, I’m going to be looking for a new color commentator!

Plague: This is an atrocity!

Rowe: Now folks, it has come down to this: the main event. This is the final match of the NEW World Championship tournament! It is The Rock vs. Chris Jericho!

Match Eight: The Rock vs Chris Jericho (NEW World Championship)

The Rock comes out first and takes a moment to laugh at Ric Flair, who is still trying to escape the Kennel from Hell. The Rock shrugs and heads to the ring. Chris Jericho comes out next and tosses Flair a towel. As Jericho and Rock both make it to the ring, they have an epic stare down. The Rock dares Jericho to “just bring it.” Jericho and Rock tie up and have a test of strength. Jericho pushes Rock down toward the mat, but Rock reverses the momentum and pushes Jericho to the mat. Jericho slaps the taste out of Rock’s mouth and declares “I’m the king of the world!” Rock disagrees and returns the favor with a slap to Jericho’s face. It picks up from here as they put on a pretty good technical wrestling match for several minutes. Jericho and Rock counter several attempts at power moves, and Rock even counters the Break Down. Jericho nails an enziguri and goes for the lion sault! Rock gets his knees up and they connect with Jericho’s ribs in a sickening fashion. Jericho escapes to ringside, where Rock chases after him. Jericho catches Rock off guard with a side suplex onto the announce table! The table doesn’t break, so Jericho climbs up the table and puts Rock right into the Walls of Jericho! Rock taps out, but it doesn’t count since it was outside the ring. Jericho is frustrated and drags Rock back into the ring and goes for the Walls again. This time Rock counters and puts Jericho into the sharp shooter! Jericho is in big trouble and almost taps out, but manages to get to the ropes. Jericho rolls up Rock and gets a near fall. Rock comes back up and hits the Rock Bottom on Jericho in the center of the ring! Rock goes for the cover and it’s 1……..2………….NO! Jericho kicked out of the Rock Bottom! Rock is livid and goes for a second Rock Bottom, but Jericho counters it and puts the Rock right back into the Walls of Jericho! Rock is about to make it to the ropes when Jericho pulls him back into the center of the ring. Rock has no choice and taps out at 29:44!

Winner and first ever NEW World Champion: Chris Jericho! **** (92/100/84)

Eric Bischoff comes out with the NEW World Championship belt and hands it to Chris Jericho. Jericho breaks down and starts sobbing. Jericho’s first act as champion is then to drive the belt into The Rock, who had just gotten back to his feet. Rock goes down and Chris Jericho holds up the NEW Championship proudly, with tears streaming down his face!

Rowe: This is sickening! Chris Jericho wrestled a classic match, but this attack on The Rock was completely uncalled for! This is unbecoming of a champion, if you ask me!

Plague: Well, no one did ask you! This is the greatest moment in wrestling history! Chris Jericho was the first undisputed champion that our sport saw in 40 years and now he has made history again by becoming the first ever NEW World Champion!

Plague: I guess this also means that The Rock will be heading into the Great American Bash to try and win the NWA World Championship!

Rowe: What a night this has been! What a River Rumble! We’ll see you on Saturday Night! Good night and thank you for buying this DVD!

Great show, with some really great in-ring action.

You had a great mix of matches, feuds, and heat in here. Edge/Christian was nice, the Main Event was great, the Wrestlecrap match broke it all up nicely. Showcasing your Trios team was sweet as well.

Very good show, and you just put the pressure on me for Redemption.

Oh -- on behalf of CSW
