Title: Why I Don't Like Judd Winnick

This will be a simple list of why I think he's an awful writer.

1. Politics. I hate political stuff in comics to begin with because I feel it's a poor medium for it. But he's the absolute worst at this. I call his brand of crap pop politics. This is where you throw out a lot of buzzwords and catchphrases but have no real substance on the issue because you have no real understanding of what you're talking about. And to make things worse he can't leave his politics out of anything he does. I don't want to be bashed over the head with what the writer believes when I read a book. Especially one that reminds me of all of those hippie douche activists in college.

2. Gay characters. Every fucking book he writes has to have some stereotype of a gay character. And he only does this because he's expanded his 15 minutes of fame by riding Pedro's AIDs ridden corpse for all it's worth. And you would think for someone that was supposedly so close to a gay man would be able to fucking write a gay character that isn't a one dimensional stereotype.

3. Fan Fiction. All of his works read like fan fiction and not actual DCU stories.

I haven't read much of his work at all, to be honest. People seem to love him or hate him. I've only picked up an issue here and there, really.

Don't forget the BOMBS.

Green Arrow fought Riddler...Riddler had BOMBS.

Batman and Blackmask fought Red Hood...Red hood had BOMBS.

Green Arrow fought Dr. Light and Merlyn...they had BOMBS.

BOMBS are the biggest plot cop-out in the world. Backed yourself into a corner and can't find a way to tie everything up? Blow the whole fucking thing up! With one "click" you end the plot, conflict and everything else.

When I was into the old role-playing game "Champions" in 7th grade, I realized that I was using BOMBS too much. It didn't make sense. Why would superheroes with amazing powers rely on something a regular joe could use?! I couldn't think of ways to conclude my stories, so I always had things end with a BOMB. Ties into Winnick's fan fiction adolescent writing.

His dialogue is adolescent based, too. Deathstroke... distinguished, edcuated villain would NOT be saying "I am SO looking forward to seeing him again". Or he had some other lame line in Green Arrow, like "there is no way this is happening". Characters also want to "kick ass" quite alot and talk tough... more traits of adolescent fan fiction. Write video games, Juddley. Seriously.
