So far....

RVD vs. Cena

Funk & Dreamer vs. Foley & Edge

and....
QUOTE (PWInsider)
During the Smackdown taping in Portland, Oregon tonight, a video feature announced that WWE World champion Rey Mysterio will wrestle former ECW World champion Sabu at the ECW One Night Stand PPV on 6/11 in New York City.

Believe it or not, this will be the first-ever singles match between two stars who each helped evolve high impact aerial wrestling in the 1990s. They faced against each other in a tag match during an international tour promoted by John Arezzi in 1993, but beyond that I don't believe they've ever wrestled each other. Obviously, WWE has added a tremendous dream match to the PPV.

dynamite kido - May 31, 2006 01:47 PM (GMT)
Well I can't lie. My ECW markdom from 95 would love to see Mysterio/Sabu.

That match would have been incredible though if it happened in 94/95.

The Last Free Voice - May 31, 2006 02:58 PM (GMT)
I too would love to see that... in 95ish. Today? Not at all. Sabu is broken down and Mysterio is a shell of his former self.

dynamite kido - May 31, 2006 03:00 PM (GMT)
Shit Mysterio is fine. He's managed to figure out how to work a main event style and he's one of the better workers in the world. he can't do some of the lucha stuff he used to, but I would necessessarily call him a "shell" though.

Sabu actually looked okay in his last few TNA appearances, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. IT's gonna be a weird match though....

The Last Free Voice - May 31, 2006 03:13 PM (GMT)
You're right, shell was too harsh. But he's way bulkier, way slower, and has lost a lot of what made him unique back in the day. This month on 24/7 they had a tonne of lucha type stuff on, and watchign some of Mysterio's old stuff is like watching a totally diferent person. I guess what I was trying to say is that Sabu in 95 vs. Mysterio in 95 would be something I'd buy a PPV to watch, Sabu today vs. Mysterio today doesn't intrest me at all.

I totally agree with you on that stuff. I would totally buy a PPV with the 95 versions myself, and although I think it's an interesting match.....it wouldn't make my buy a PPV now either.

jamiegeist - May 31, 2006 03:50 PM (GMT)
I'll probably buy the PPV if they continue to toss on some good matches.

Rey v Sabu sounds obscure enough that it interests me. Not to mention Sabu's former partner RVD facing the other World Champion. Not sure what I'm going for there, but whatever.

I did read a rumor last night from some major site that Benoit-Malenko has in fact been scrapped, but not because of Benoit's "injury". Reportedly, Benoit's wife is having medical problems, so he is at home to take care of her. The plan has been changed to a Benoit-Angle submission match instead. I've got to say, that one pisses me off. Supposedly Malenko had been training hard, and is not happy with the news, as are Angle and Benoit not happy as well.

dynamite kido - May 31, 2006 03:51 PM (GMT)
Why wouldn't they just take benoit out of the fold?

Fuck what they think Malenko NEEDS to be on this show.

Neither are going to happen. Benoit doesn't want to work.

Well good actually. I was wondering if that was old news or not.

Mad Dog - May 31, 2006 06:02 PM (GMT)
That Foley/Edge vs. Dreamer/Funk match might possibly be a complete and total disaster.

whitemilesdavis - May 31, 2006 06:22 PM (GMT)
I'd like to see Mysterio / Sabu, even today. Sure, it would've been better 10 years ago, but just those two across the ring from one another is a scene I'd like to witness.

Funk/ Dreamer vs. Foley/ Edge will be terrible, no two ways about it, though it will get a big reaction because of the participants.

Cena vs. RVD will suck, and could actually be lot less heated than one might think. I'm really curious as to how they are gonna book this one. At this point they'll have to be very smart to make it work at all.

So match wise, this can be nothing but a crappy PPV. The nostalgia act could keep it entertaining though.

dynamite kido - May 31, 2006 07:17 PM (GMT)
But I will gladly admit that it's the best PPV of all time if they have Cena go over clean and the crowd riots....

jamiegeist - May 31, 2006 07:24 PM (GMT)
I imagine we get a double pin kind of situation, with RVD declaring himself ECW champ, and Cena keeping the WWE Title.

whitemilesdavis - May 31, 2006 07:36 PM (GMT)
Which would be crap.

They need to let Paul do some of his patented overbooking.

jamiegeist - May 31, 2006 07:40 PM (GMT)
I would actually welcome a crazy overbooked Main Event. Cena v RVD really isn't gonna be any good anyway, so if the lights don't go out at least 3 times I'm gonna be disapointed. The possibilities are endless. I'd love to see Cena get caned, or see Malenko show up and take him to school, or Lawler get involved. I'm all for it just being a rediculously fun show, regardless of the in ring quality.

I also wouldn't mind them subtlely buring the Dudleyz, who are being little bitches in TNA lately.

whitemilesdavis - May 31, 2006 07:53 PM (GMT)
At least once when the lights come on it should just be some old guy standing there opening a bag of chips. He looks around, startled to see the crowd looking at him, and then the lights go back out.

That's the best thing I've ever heard.

Want to get a huge pop out of it?

Make it the straw hat guy.

whitemilesdavis - May 31, 2006 08:09 PM (GMT)
That's strange. I actually thought that after I replied.

jamiegeist - May 31, 2006 08:28 PM (GMT)
Goddam that would be the coolest thing ever.

Mad Dog - May 31, 2006 08:41 PM (GMT)
I hope RVD walks out walks into the FU and gets pinned in 5 seconds just to kick start ECW the way it should be.

The Last Free Voice - May 31, 2006 09:01 PM (GMT)
Maybe RVD Wins, tosses the belt down and says he's the ECW Champ, not the WWE Champ?

jamiegeist - May 31, 2006 09:03 PM (GMT)
You mean like Heyman said on RAW? Verbatim.

The Last Free Voice - May 31, 2006 09:10 PM (GMT)
Oh, that's already out there then? I haven't watched Raw in months... Sorry.

jamiegeist - May 31, 2006 09:32 PM (GMT)
I assumed so. And its alright. I understand.

The Last Free Voice - May 31, 2006 09:41 PM (GMT)
So is there any word on if Punker will be making an appearence?

nope. he won't be there at all from what I've heard. He won't be brought into the ECW fold until the brand is actually up and rolling.....

Funny......or sad? I can't figure out either. I'd rather watch 459 straight hours of ECW garbage matches than another Cena title defense.

Ah. Drats. You could have said "possibly" and gotten the E another PPV buy...

You're a good person, DK. I don't care what everyone else says about you.

dynamite kido - June 1, 2006 12:46 AM (GMT)
Don't be fooled LFV.............I'm a total fucking asshole.

The Last Free Voice - June 1, 2006 12:56 AM (GMT)
... Yessir.

(I breifly considered taking a very different direction, but you're an admin. Not even going to tempt the Fates with that one.)

Big F'N Swigg - June 1, 2006 01:25 AM (GMT)
hmmm...... an asshole who licks asshole......

Okay, I take that back. Please don't kill me.

The Last Free Voice - June 1, 2006 01:28 AM (GMT)
I was actually going to do the "DK's biggest Fan" gimmick, but I thought he'd murderdeathkillalize me.

Big F'N Swigg - June 1, 2006 01:30 AM (GMT)
I like to stare death in the face.

And then complain about it's breath

The Last Free Voice - June 1, 2006 01:39 AM (GMT)
If I banged Death from teh Sandman Comics, would that make me a Necrophiliac? I mean, she's probably the hottest comic character ever. There was a great debate over this between a friend of mine and I.

dynamite kido - June 1, 2006 05:01 PM (GMT)
I take it neither of you have girlfriends......do you?

whitemilesdavis - June 1, 2006 05:06 PM (GMT)
