Title: Oh Joy........

So I read a little tidbit on PWInsider that WWF PPVs might all cost $40 after ONS this year.
prof_plague - May 29, 2006 04:29 AM (GMT)
Great. As if I've been seeing them for the current price.
Mad Dog - May 29, 2006 04:35 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I gave up when it went to $35. WWF PPVs just aren't worth it. Nothing important happens on PPV anymore.
prof_plague - May 29, 2006 05:53 AM (GMT)
The only time it's worth paying that much is when you have a bunch of people over so it'll only cost a few bucks a piece. But even then, it's almost not worth it. If a PPV comes to your area, it's cheaper to get a ticket than it is to get the PPV itself. Or, if it does turn out to be a good PPV, buy it a month later on DVD.

Yeah, no chance I pay for a PPV when it seems almost every time 3 of the "marquee" matchups are on free TV in the next 3 weeks, including the main event.
prof_plague - May 29, 2006 05:22 PM (GMT)
Yeah, there's usually rematches of some sort on the next episode of Raw or SmackDown. They're usually not as good, but it's free.

Yeah, this just seems like better news for TNA in my opinion. At least I'd buy their PPV's. At this rate the WWE is lucky if I'm only ordering Wrestlemania over the next year.
jamiegeist - May 29, 2006 06:23 PM (GMT)
I know we get the "PPV is the only source of income for TNA" argument all the time on here, but I bet they could pick up major buys if they slashed their prices to like 20 bucks, even for one show. Much like the ESPN video games did, it would probably just cause a pop and then die down, bowing down to the might EA (WWE).
Mad Dog - May 29, 2006 07:21 PM (GMT)
Now I gladly pay the $40 for UFC but I think it's completely different because:
1. No matter what the show is special.
2. I won't see the same match within the next month.
3. It won't be undone on tv the next night.

Now I'm not really sure if I'll order the big 4 every year now, so I might just go back to Summerslam.. Besides, I can pick them up for $15 at Wal-Mart (where they only sell at least 2 wrestling DVDs).

I just black box it myself.....
But I feel sorry for those that do have to pay.
