Title: Dream band?

Okay, I'm watching that "Superband" show on VH1, so I'm wondering, what is your dream band? What kind of music would they do? You can have as many people doing as many things as you so desire. Here's mine:

Ian Curtis (Joy Division)- Vocals/Lyrics
Robert Smith (The Cure)- Gutiar, Backing Vocals
Ronnan Harris (VNV Nation)- Synths and Electronics
Peter Hook (Joy Division/New Order)- Bass
Adam Carson (AFI)- Drums

I'm thinking of a really cold, detatched electronic tinged Post Punk band. Kind of like Early New Order. I'm probably going to cook up something a little heavier later, but this would be my pick for Gothy/Post Punky stuff. Go!

Ok, might as well give this a try since LFV's band was...less than inspiring. I'll keep it in the realm of Rock/Pop/R&B so it can at least be a little relevant.

Bass- James Jamerson (Motown): Best groover in the history of the instrument, period. Every single bassist alive has been influenced by James whether they know it or not. Could groove while at the same time playing some incredible stuff. Listen to The Four Tops "Bernadette" for a good example.

Guitar- John Frusciante (Chili Peppers): I think John is the best guitarist of my generation, though I thought he had peaked on Blood Sugar Sex Magic. It appears now that he is getting back to form after a couple of years of self-imposed exile and heroine abuse.

Drums- Nathan Brown (Everything): A very underappreciated drummer who has played for a lot of people and can sing really well, too. Came up in the same scene as Carter Beauford, and I'd actually put him above Carter for drummers I like to hear.

Keys- Ray Charles: and will also do some of the vocals. It was down to Ray and Stevie, but I think Ray gets the nod for his soulful organ sound.

Vocals- Corey Glover (Living Colour): Incredible range and unbelievable charasmatic frontman. Corey s the only guy who could carry off the heavy rock/soul/funk mixture I'm going for.

So there you have it. That's a band I'd kill to hear.

Less than inspiring? Ouch. That's a good set of picks, though. I'd like to hear John play while Corey sings. I'll give it another go, this time more rock-ish.

Vocals- Maynard Keenan (Tool)
Guitar- Tom Morello (Audioslave)
Bass- Flea (RHCP)
Drums- Danny Carrey (Tool)
Synths- Trent Reznor (NIN)

This one would be more striaght up rock. Yeah.

Maynard on vocals.

Kirk Hammet and Tom Morello on guitars.

Danny Carey on drums most definately.

Chancellor on bass.

Tom Petty on harmonica.

Fuck that'd be chaotic.
