Title: See No Evil Thread
Scrooge McSuck - May 21, 2006 02:21 PM (GMT)
Once again, WWE seems to fuck things up. Since the closest theater showing it is roughly 25-30 miles away, I won't be seeing it until it hits DVD... next month. But damn, some of the "professional" reviews over on rotten tomatoes are really mean. IMDb's Gaggle of Idiots seems to be a mix of people who either loved it for what it was, or thought it was terrible...
I guess Hulk Hogan was lonely on the Bottom 100 Movies of All Time List, since this will no doubt make it unless I can vote 78,049 times like Jeb Bush did for his brother in 2000. ;)

Yup, if you ever wanted to see Kane masturbate this is the film for you! Oy, I can't believe I just wrote that. Nonetheless, the flick sports a fun debut by the Big Red Machine and several scenes of unbridled sadistic bloodshed (not to mention the unbelivably crazy ending kill). Still...thats not enough to warrant anything more than a DVD rental. |
The first person to say anything is getting a cell phone rammed down their throat.

That is just way too fucking easy right there.
I did see one that said Kane's acting makes Vin Diesel look like a young Al Pacino or something.
Honestly, people are being scathing for no reason. If it wasn't a WWE project with a WWE star, it would just get lambasted for shittiness of story or what not. They're just being cold because of what it is, which is stupid.
If you went to the theatre to See No Evil and went thinking you were seeing a cinematic masterpeice, or a summer blockbuster, than you're the idiot, not Kane.

Ditto. Also the fact it was a Horror movie makes it more of a target, since "real" critics, like Roger Ebert, refuse to even review them for the most part, let alone say anything good.
With Horror, you don't expect oscar nominating performances. You expect bad acting from a bunch of green actors/guys pulled off the streets, lots of blood, and nudity (this movie lacks it, but with an R rating for excessive gore, why not go the full mile?).
http://www.horrorchannel.com/index.php?nam...wcontent&id=950Pretty good review from a Horror fan POV, with no serious bias in favor of, nor against it. I'll definitely buy the DVD... as long as it isn't marked at $25 or something I would expect WWE to do.

Well, WWE isn't going to make the cost of the DVD......Lions Gate will.
Also, from the reviews I've read it's just sounds like thrown together crap. I've actually heard a decent amount of good stuff about Kane in the main role though. The biggest problem that I read is that not only is the rest of the cast TERRIBLE actors, but in the writing they don't give you much to give a damn about. Apparently the film makes you HATE the characters and not give a damn if they live or die (basically the one thing you try NOT to have happen when you write this type of horror).

They probably wrote it just for me, since I'm cheering on the killer either way. :P
A choppy script seems like the biggest problem though, as you mentioned. And I've heard things about the directer dude who did porno movies and music videos over-abusing certain camera tricks to the point it becomes annoying, especially when Kane is on-screen.
TheGreatWhiteChoate - May 21, 2006 06:49 PM (GMT)
I don't want to spoil the ending.....
.....but Big Show chokeslams Kane through an elevator shaft.
Scrooge McSuck - May 21, 2006 06:54 PM (GMT)
 That would be funny... and the only logical ending would be Kane sitting up 2 seconds later and laughing like an idiot, which means SEQUEL!

You mean like every single video package (and the recent re-visited one) from after Kane lost his mask when they used that retarded blurry-zoom-wave filter? Thats so fuckin annoying. "BY GAWD! HE's SO DISFIGURED!!!~~"
Still to this day, whenever Kane comes out and they call him a monster or something, my wife is always like "Oh, that hideous scar!!! That hideous mascara scar!"
Scrooge McSuck - May 21, 2006 07:35 PM (GMT)
Did they even bother explaining why when he unmasked he had dirt on his face and had goofy Missing Link/Larry of the Stooges hair, then the next he started shaving his head (with that 5 o'clock shadow portion) and just looked like an ugly guy without dirt on his face?
Other than "it's in his head", since obviously it wasn't. It was on his face!
jamiegeist - May 21, 2006 07:55 PM (GMT)
Of course they didn't. Not to mention how the guy who at one point COULDNT talk, and then could only talk with a voice box, and is now in a starring role in a movie.
Fuckin idiots.
Scrooge McSuck - May 21, 2006 08:02 PM (GMT)
Well, he only had about 1 line to say in the movie, but you make a good point. :D
eStragand - May 21, 2006 11:48 PM (GMT)
Currently, EVERY 'Rasslin page on my site has a "See No Evil" ad. Even the "classic superstars of yesteryear" page.
You should hit one and see what happens (hint).

Apparently SNE made an estimate $4.3 Mil. this weekend, and with a budget of $8 mil., it might actually break even or... :gasp: make a profit!
Kane = Academy Award Winner!
Not bad for a movie made, promoted, and written by WWE. I guess there was enough lure for wrestling fans and horror crowd.
