Ring of Honor
Friday, May 12, 2006
Long Island, NY
Thanks to "Lurker Greg" and "ROHWayne"

Pre-Show Matches:

1) Bobby Dempsey & Alex Payne defeat Ernie Osiris & Rhett Titus. Osiris pinned by Bobby Dempsey after a Death Valley Driver.

2) Pelle Primeau wins the #1 Kikitaruship Four Corner Survival. Pelle Primeu pins Derek Dempsey with a rollup in about 7-8 minutes. Other two in the match were Shane Hagadorn and Mitch Franklin. Top of The Class trophy was not on the line. Pelle vs Kikitaru later tonight!

Ring Of Honor - Long Island, New York

1) Matt Sydal defeats Jimmy Yang after a Shooting Star Press in about 9 minutes. After the match, Yang is on the mic and told the fans to check him out on WWE.com.

2) Four Corner Survival - McGuinness vs Cabana vs Delirious vs Daniels Interrupted during intros by Christian Cage. Christian asked Colt Cabana to be his tag team partner tonight...Colt Cabana accepted. Cabana & Christian vs Danielson & ??? as of now. This brings out the "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson. Danielson is asking Christopher Daniels to be his partner. The match is set- Bryan Danielson & Christopher Daniels vs Christian Cage & Colt Cabana. Danielson also promised Daniels a future title shot if they win. Match changed leading to...

2) Three Way Dance: Delirious defeats Nigel McGuinness & Kikitaru Lots of comedy, including slow motion spots. Delirious makes Kikitaru tap with his relatively new submission finisher around the 10 minute mark.

3) Alex Shelley & Jimmy Rave defeat The Rottweilers by DISQUALIFICATION. Match lasted around 19 minutes. Lots of interplay between Prince Nana and J-Train. Rotts were DQ'd when Julius Smokes interfered and attacked Jimmy Rave. After the match, Homicide responded to Jim Cornette with "F*ck you people, and f*ck this company" and the Rottweilers left.

Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli have stormed the ring. BJ Whitmer and Adam Pearce enter.

4) KOW Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli defeat Adam Pearce & BJ Whitmer. ROH Official Todd Sinclair was going at it with CZW "ref" Bryce Remsburg during the fight. The Necro Butcher aided Hero in pinning Adam Pearce. Samoa Joe hit the ring, but CZW retreated.

Return- August 4 w/ KENTA & AJ Styles
INTERMISSION
**Attendance "about the same as Glory By Honor". Big pop for Christian, but during his promo the crowd seemed 50/50 split between Danielson and Christian.**

5) ROHvideos.com Match: Samoa Joe defeats Apocolypse in 5 minutes. Joe wins after the Musclebuster.

6) Mark Briscoe defeats Roderick Strong in 15 minutes. Briscoe wins after the Wrist Clutch Burning Hammer type move.

7) Jay Briscoe defeats Austin Aries in 18 minutes. Briscoe made Austin submit to the Cobra Clutch. Briscoe worked over the shoulder of Aries throughout the match.

8) Christian & Colt Cabana defeat Chris Daniels & Bryan Danielson in 28 minutes. Christian pins Daniels after an Unprettier. Daniels & Danielson didn't get along during the match. At one point, the crowd chanted "F*ck TNA" but Christopher Daniels got on the mic and shut it down saying "this is about pro wrestling, not about TNA". No title shot for Daniels for now.

End of Show.

The Gen Next/ Briscoe's stuff looks good, and Daniels getting pissed at the crowd sounds interesting. Embassy/Rott's doesn't really appeal to me, and I've lost all interest in the CZW feud. It's been the same thing since fucking January.

prof_plague - May 13, 2006 05:49 PM (GMT)
The Briscoe Brothers must be on summer break.

dynamite kido - May 13, 2006 06:32 PM (GMT)
I'm sorry but those "mystery partners" make NO sense to me.

whitemilesdavis - May 14, 2006 01:41 AM (GMT)
I want to officially dog the ROH crowd for the anti-TNA chant. That's completely disrespectful of two of the guys in the ring.

I've heard that chant before, mainly at Death Before Dishonor III.

It is a rather stupid chant, though I understood it more at the time since Daniels was just coming back from that period where TNA guys couldn't work for ROH at all.

Big F'N Swigg - May 14, 2006 03:25 AM (GMT)
Kudos to Daniels for stopping the chants.

Mick Foley, WWE writer Brian Gerwitz and TNA producer Jesse Ward were all backstage visiting at the Ring of Honor event in Lake Grove, Long Island last Friday night.

Although Jimmy Yang challenged Prince Nana and Jimmy Rave to a 6/17 tag match in New York City, he may actually be done with Ring of Honor. While the match had been discussed, Yang actually went into business for himself when he announced it on the mic over the weekend. Anyone who knows how meticulous Gabe Sapolsky is shouldn't be surprised to know he was pretty upset about it when it happened. Yang was originally scheduled to finish up with ROH on 6/24, but at this point it's all up in the air.

Pro Wrestling NOAH's KENTA is scheduled to return to the Northeast on 8/4 and 8/5 in Long Island and New Jersey, respectively.

ROH's 6/3 debut in East Windsor, CT features ROH champion Bryan Danielson vs. Homicide and ROH Tag Team champions Austin Aries & Roderick Strong vs. The Briscoes.

Expect a major ROH vs. CZW bout for the 7/15 return to Philadelphia

Am I the only one who doesn't want to see Am.Drag vs. Homicide round Three MILLION?

Yes, you are.

They could fight constantly, as they both rule and those matches were awesome.

The Last Free Voice - May 17, 2006 03:23 PM (GMT)
I'm still not sold on Homicide. Sorry.

Big F'N Swigg - May 17, 2006 03:43 PM (GMT)
My cousin and I were at the show when Danielson beat Homicide with the Airplane Spin. I couldn't believe Danielson got around that many times

You shittin me? The dude is one of the best guys ROH has........

I don't know what you need sold on..

The Last Free Voice - May 17, 2006 04:05 PM (GMT)
He's good, yeah. I'm not arguign that. But he doesn't dazzle me like he apparently dazzels a lot of fans. I'm not sold on him as someone I'd want to follow closely as champ or in a major feud.

Shit, I would say that he's one of the more interesting guys in ROH. He always manages to get into feuds that are about something and in the ring he's on par 99.9 percent of the time. Perfect example is the Pinfalls Count Anywhere match against Danielson in their best of 5 series. That fucking match was worked beautifully.....

I guess it's just one of those things. I know I SHOULD like him a lot more than I do, but I just don't.

meh, personal preference. It's all good. What is it that you don't really care for about him?

The Last Free Voice - May 17, 2006 04:25 PM (GMT)
He just doesn't excite me. A lot of his matches come off as being the same. "Oh, there's the low blow he's been doing for ever. Yeah. Boo. Even though he did it as a face." "Oh, there's teh tope con hilo everyone and their brother does now." I respect him, and I can usually enjoy the matches, he just doesn't get me amped up to see them like a Joe or Ki or Punk does. I respect his work a hell of a lot, I just don't get excited about it.

dynamite kido - May 17, 2006 04:29 PM (GMT)
Fair enough, but his matches are a lot better than people tend to give him credit for. But it's cool if you don't like him.....especially because you still acknowledge that he's good.

The Last Free Voice - May 17, 2006 04:34 PM (GMT)
He's a really nice guy too. Before Redemtion I had jsut bought a shirt from Low Ki, and he was standing out front too, and I was marking out so much that I was pretty much running into things, and he was pretty much the most laid back guy ever. And he goes "Enjoy the show man!" as I was walking away, trying to remember not to run into the door.

whitemilesdavis - May 17, 2006 04:42 PM (GMT)
My problem with Homocide is his coming off as New Jack Jr. He is a really crisp and fast worker, but he just needs to tweak the gimmick a bit.

That being said, he'd be perfect for the new ECW.

I actually agree 100% on this. A couple of years ago I got to interview him after an IWC show. He took time out of HIS busy schedule to talk to me for about a half an hour. He's a fucking awesome guy personally. Ki actually is too. I will say this though, if you ever get a chance to shake Ki's hand do it............and brace yourself.

The Last Free Voice - May 17, 2006 05:08 PM (GMT)
He must have taken it easy on me, he kind of gave me that bow-handshake nodd thing he sometimes did before matches.

My faveourite 'Cide match is probably his one with Punk from 03, where he won the Contenders Trophy and got his shot at Joe at Do or Die.

Keep in mind that I dwarf Low Ki. Maybe that had something to do with it.

The Last Free Voice - May 17, 2006 05:50 PM (GMT)
Ha. Yeah. We were about the same hight. I'm really glad I didn't say something dumb to insult his sense of kayfabe.

Big F'N Swigg - May 17, 2006 06:36 PM (GMT)
Does Ki always use that deep voice? or is it part of his gimmick?

The Last Free Voice - May 17, 2006 06:38 PM (GMT)
He used it when talking to me. Not as intense, but same deepness. Not as much of a growl, I guess. Still very deep voice.

dynamite kido - May 17, 2006 07:05 PM (GMT)
Yeah, his voice is like that legit.

Big F'N Swigg - May 17, 2006 10:06 PM (GMT)
I thought so. Some kid at that show kept yelling "your voice doesn't fit your body." Fucker

Mad Dog - June 1, 2006 11:27 PM (GMT)
So I think I'm finally tapping out on RoH for good now. I just can't make myself care about anything they're doing right now.
