Title: I Miss The Old Days

I miss the days of gaming when you had to actually work to beat a game. It seems anymore if you can turn your system on that it's only a matter of time until you beat it. It's really irritating too when you see these newer gamers whining about NES and SNES games because they're too hard. That used to be the point.

I miss the days when it was a matter of pride for how many games you had beaten and how you mocked the weakest of gamers who couldn't beat the first Mario Bros game for NES. I miss buying a game and not knowing if I'll have the skills to beat it.

Ditto. I think I've beat every game I have for the current systems and PSone and N64. However, for games on the NES or SNES, I have yet to beat like The Goonies II (NES), Festers Quest (NES), Super Star Wars (SNES) and others to name a few. All games I've been playing from anywhere between 7-10 years.

I just recently (and I'm sure everyones aware of it by now since it's in every Video Game topic) beat the boss I hated the most in Castlevania, allowing me for the first time ever to fight "The Count" (not known as Dracula for some reason).

The hardest game I've ever played for NES has to be Friday The 13th. I can't beat Day 1, but I still try from time to time because it actually challenges my "gaming" skills.

NES had it's fair share of easy games. Jaws I beat in 12 minutes once, the kiddy games are obviously for youngsters, and so on.

I think what bothered me most was when they rereleased Dragon Warrior I & II on Gameboy and they had dumbed the challenge donw a lot. They made items cheaper and enemies weaker. I think they even made leveling up easier.

I remember my sister had this Little Mermaid game for the NES. I could beat it in under half an hour (perhaps faster, I do remember that I could play the game without losing any life at all).

In general, I don't think I was too good at most games. I beat all the Marios and a Mega Man game and maybe some other ones, but everyone is right... games used to be harder. The only game for the PS2 that I've been really challenged with is Jak II.

I tried playing the original Mega Man.....

I'm still crying about getting my ass kicked.

Where'd you get in that game. It becomes a real nightmare once you get to the Wiley stages.

I barely got anywhere. That's why I'm still crying.

Don't feel bad. I can't beat Metroid (NES) to save my life. I'm just not that good at the series.

I can do ok with MegaMan mostly because I remember everything from my early playings of it.

Metroid I do ok with. I do have trouble remembering where everything is from time to time.

I agree, classic Mega Man games were mega hard.
