Description: List 'em here.

After going over how much I loath the Grim Reaper in the original Castlevania for NES, it got me wondering, what Boss fights are just so annoying you don't care about winning the game, you just want to hand the character his ass. Here's mine...

1. OBVIOUSLY, The Grim Reaper. Never before have I wished death on DEATH. Still haven't beaten him.

2. The Death Star run at the end of Super Star Wars for SNES. I have yet to beat it, and suck at surviving the entire run.

3. Cackletta from Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga. It's not that she's tough, but the fight literally takes like 30-35 minutes because of her reanimating lims.

4. Tokka in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III for NES. He's one of the last bosses but by the time you reach him, you're almost out of lives. His moves include choking and throwing you into a neon sign, so... (death comes).

5. The moving in wall of spikes in Level 2 of ROBOCOP for NES. I have yet to figure out a strategy.

6. Every level of Total Recall for NES. When was a Hobo with a Magic Hat in the fucking movie?!

The final Wiley in MegaMan 2. You have to fight the battle to perfection or you're dead. Plus the acid leading up to him is irritating.

The hidden boss in Mario RPG. Took me 30 minutes of fighting the first time I actually beat him and that's only because I kept getting freebies on rock candy.

More to come.

You're talking about the weird "Final Fantasy" dude (who I think wasn't even in Final Fantasy, but is always rumored to be) in Monstro Town? Gosh Darn that guy is tough. I never beat him, and will probably call him the toughest optional boss ever. Thank God you don't have to defeat him to pass on to the next area.

As for normal bosses, Croco is actually quite tough in the Moleville Mines if you aren't at a decent level, especially when he steals all your stuff.

I think he was in one of the games that never got released in the U.S. I played through the game a couple of years ago and basically destroyed everything that got in my way including him. I think I even won that Yoshi race on the first try.

Some of the bosses in the NES Contras really sucked. Boo one hit deaths in those games.

The Wizard in Zelda II because I couldn't figure out what to do as a kid.

The Yoshi Race ticked me off. I had zero rhythm when I first got the game (birthday present the first year it was out). I didn't beat it on my own until just recently, and I smoked Boshi (or whatever the big purple idiots name is). Wait, am I describing the Yoshi bully or Barney the Dinosaur?

Mad Dog - January 9, 2005 02:11 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I had trouble with that too. I don't think I really developed good rythm for that stuff until I was about 18 or so.

I'd also like to add the entire Double Dragon III game. I still have nightmares from how hard that was.

Holy crap... I took Death to the limit... or as much of a limit I could. With only half a bar of energy (a.k.a 2 shots and I'm dead), I took away 7 of Death's health bar thingss with Holy Water. IT'S POSSIBLE TO BEAT HIM! I just need to learn how to evade and throw at the same time.

Don't get me started on Double Dragon III (groans)

I remember playing Contra (NES, and AWESOME) and having a really hard time with one of the last bosses. (I think it's the one before the end boss, which was an Alien brain or something). Took a while, but was able to win.

Edit: I got the fucker to his last 4 bits of energy in the same scenario. I'M GONNA DO IT! (please no O.J. Hart jokes)

I've yet to meet ANYONE who has beet that. I fucking hate that boss. It's the only video game I've yet to get to level 3 on.

Dr. Wily in MegaMan 2. I played it a few months ago on the Anniversary Collection for my Gamecube during the summer. It seemed that everytime I got to him, I'd either run out of lives or something like that. And it's mainly the first form I have trouble against.

I've been playing Mario 64 on my DS and some of these stars are highly irritating to get ahold of.

Scrooge McSuck - January 14, 2005 06:21 PM (GMT)
I hate Mario 64 on N64 period... just too irritating of a game to try and collect damn stars all the time. (gets sledgehammer) It's still better than Mario Sunshine. Who came up with that storyline!? (For those woh don't know, you don't wanna... trust me).
