QUOTE

Don't forgot to join us LIVE on TBS as we quickly approach Central States Wrestling first Supershow:  Blaze of Glory.  Blaze of Glory sold out in only 2 days, and will of course feature the Semi-Finals and Finals of the Owen Hart Memorial Tournament, which will crown the first ever Central States Wrestling Champion.

Quarter-final action takes over this week as we build to our final four.  Triple H goes one on one with former friend Billy Gunn, Samoa Joe meets up face to face with Masato Tanaka, Jeff Jarrett battles his former tag team partner Road Dogg, and Shelton Benjamin continues his quest for the gold when he meet X-pac in the ring.

Last week, Roderick Strong and Austin Aries made their mark when the attacked CSW Interviewer Shane Douglas.  Luckily, color commentator Tazz made the save before any serious damage could be done.  Reportedly, Strong and Aries will be at Cyclone, and have a message for the former stars.

Don't miss any of the action, LIVE on TBS at 6:05.  Central States Wrestling...making the old school new again.

Last week's episode of "Saturday Night" was EXPLOSIVE.  Abyss advanced in the Championship Tournament with some possibly unintentional help from Ken Kennedy.  Chris Benoit also advanced after a EXTREMELY high risk maneuver from Sabu crippled the "Suicidal, Homicidal, Genocidal maniac."

This week looks to be just as explosive.  We'll hear from both Chris Benoit and Batista about why the NWA Championship Tournament is important to them.  We'll also see both men in their semifinal matchups.  Benoit will take on William Regal, and Batista will take on The Monster Abyss.

We'll also see the in ring debut of CM Punk, as he takes on the young up and comer Jimmy Jacobs.  We'll hear about the special arrangement NWA Midwest has made with NWA Mexico.  And we'll hear from Homicide about why he interfered in last weeks Triple Threat Match.  Tune in this Saturday!

NWA Central States Wrestling presents....
CSW Cyclone Saturday Night

May 20, 2006
Announcers: Joey Styles & Tazz
Kansas City Uptown Theatre

Cyclone Spotlight: Brent Albright v Kid Kash
The Cyclone Spotlight match opened up again, with Brent Albright trying to make it 3 in a row. Kash was determined however, and took it right to Albright. Albright worked on Kash’s arm, no doubt to prepare for the Crowbar. Kash fought away and hit a flurry of offense in the middle of the match including some nice armdrags and a dropkick to the face. Finish came when Kash went up top and tried a sunset flip. He made it over Albright, but when he went to hook the arms, Albright sat down, ala Bulldog-Bret at Summerslam 92.

Albright defeats Kash by pinfall in 5:21 (69/58/80)

Styles: Another impressive victory for Albright. We’ll be seeing him open up the show next week, and I’m starting to wonder who can stop this momentum.

Quarterfinal Tournament Match: X-pac v Shelton Benjamin
All Tournament matches have a 15 minute time limit. X-pac and Shelton shook hands in the middle of the ring to start this one off. A nice exchange of armdrags and armlocks eventually lead to both attempting a dropkick and hitting nothing but each other’s feet. The crowd applauded the opening. Shelton then took control, using a mainly mat-based approach to keep X-pac grounded. Shelton worked over X-pac’s shoulder, but X-pac eventually squirmed away and nailed a spinning heel kick sending Benjamin to the outside. X-pac then followed with a plancha over the top rope, nailing Benjamin into the announce table. X-pac took over in the ring and had control, nailing the bronco buster and a brainbuster for a near fall. As X-pac went to the top rope, Alex Shelley came walking down the aisle. X-pac jumped off the top and exchanged words with X-pac from the inside of the ring to the outside. Benjamin spun X-pac around into a small package for a 2.75 count. X-pac turned his attention back to Benjamin and nailed a hard kick to the side of the head before hitting a kick to the stomach and attempting the X-Factor. Benjamin though pulled away at the last minute, and his his own spinning kick to X-pac, sending him against the ropes, where Shelley bashed him in the back of the head with an object in his hand. X-pac stumbled forward, and Benjamin grabbed him for a Northern Lights suplex and the win!

Benjamin defeats X-pac by pinfall in 11:14. (75/69/82)
Post-Match: Benjamin celebrated down the aisle with the fans as Shelley slid into the ring. He picked up X-pac, and nailed him with the Shellshock, leaving him in the middle of the ring. Shelley reached into his tights and pulled out the object that he nailed X-pac with. He revealed a Remote Control, and set it on X-pac’s chest before leaving the ringside area.

Tazz: What a great match between these two. A shame to see this kid Shelley get involved in the finish, but I have a feeling he’ll get what’s coming to him. Oh, speaking of getting what’s coming....

Bret Hart walks out to the ringside area and talks to Tazz closely. After a brief discussion, Tazz heads to the back, and Bret Hart sits down next to Joey Styles.

Styles: Well I guess right now I’d like to welcome the President of Central States Wrestling, Bret Hart. Mr. Hart, can I ask why you’re joining me right now?

Hart: Sure Joey. It’s simple really. The next segment we have goin on here could get a little heated, and after the situation last week, I thought it would be best if Tazz just took a quick break from announcing.

In-Ring Segment: The Franchise Has a Question
Shane Douglas heads to the ring and grabs a microphone.

Douglas: Kansas City, please welcome my guest at this time....Roderick Strong!

Roderick Strong comes out of the entryway and reveal Austin Aries walking behind him. They each slide into the ring with a smug smile on their faces.

Douglas: Good, I’m glad you decided to bring your buddy with you here. I know you guys were told this would be a chance for you to get a little mic time and put yourselves over, but guess what, it isn’t. What you’ve just done is come into my segment, my time, and MY challenge. You guys think you got one over on me last week when you beat my ass in this ring? Do you know what I’ve been through in my career? You think I can’t handle two punks like you? Well think again. Because right now I’m laying out the challenge to you two, in just a few days, at Blaze of Glory.

Strong: Franchise, you’ve lost your damn mind. Sure, we’ll accept your little challenge, since this company doesn’t seem to have anything better for us to do right now. I guess we can tread water for a bit and kill off some legen—er wait. I mean, kill off some has-beens. I can only assume that the “Human Commentary Machine” Tazz is gonna be your partner on May 23rd, and quite frankl—

Strong is cut-off mid-sentence by the familiar music of Tazz. Orange light fills the entry way as Strong and Aries turn their attention towards the ramp. As they’re waiting for Tazz to come out of the smoke, Tazz jumps the barricade and calmly stands behind Aries with a towel over his head. Out of nowhere, Tazz slaps on the Taz-Mission, with Aries flailing about in his arms. Strong turns around a moment to late, and is snatched up by The Franchise, who plants him with a belly-to-belly suplex in the middle of the ring. Tazz releases Aries and they stand over their prey.

Quarter-final Tournament Match: Samoa Joe v Masato Tanaka
Joe and Tanaka stared each other down in the middle of the ring, Tanaka still perturbed at Joe’s post match attack from last week. They started by exchanging hard chops to the chest right in the middle of the ring, neither man wanting to back down. Eventually Tanaka took control, whipping Joe off the ropes and nailing a stiff elbow. Joe responded in kind by flooring Tanaka with a clothesline. Around the 5 minute mark, Joe nailed a hard kick to the back while Tanaka was in a seated position. He followed with an even harder kick to the chest, and hit a senton after bouncing off the ropes. Joe went for the cover, but Tanaka kicked out quickly. Joe whipped Tanaka off the ropes, but Tanaka ducked under Joe and grabbed him, nailing a hard release German Suplex for a 2 count. At the 10 minute mark, both men kicked it up another notch. Joe nailed a snap powerslam, and then set Tanaka on the top rope. Joe tried to grab him for the Muscle-Buster, but Tanaka wouldn’t allow it. Joe nailed a hard right hand to Tanaka’s face, and tried to grab him for an Island Driver instead. Tanaka dropped a few elbows into Joe’s face, and then flipped himself off the ropes, nailing the Diamond Dust on Joe. He quickly covered, but Joe got his foot on the rope as the time-keeper informed us there were 3 MINUTES REMAINING. Tanaka picked Joe up and tried for another German Suplex, but Joe wasn’t budging. Joe did a standing switch and went to lock on the Kokina Clutch. Tanaka grabbed Joe’s arms before he could lock it around his throat. Tanaka bit at Joe’s arm to keep it off of his throat, and then quickly spun around with an elbow to Joe’s face to knock him away. 2 MINUTES REMAINING. Tanaka charged at Joe and attempted a Roaring Elbow, but Joe ducked, and nailed a kick to the stomach. He picked Tanaka up and hit a hard powerbomb, but Tanaka kicked out. Joe quickly turned it into an STF, trying to force Tanaka to tap out. Joe switched to a crossface, but Tanaka still wouldn’t tap. 1 MINUTE REMAINING. He continued the pressure on Tanaka as the crowd grew with the time limit expiring. Out of nowhere Joe released the crossface, and snapped the Kokina Clutch on Tanaka from behind, rolling him over and locking him in a legscissors as well. Tanaka was fading, and the BELL RANG!!

Samoa Joe drew Masato Tanaka in 15:00. (85/74/97)
Post-Match: Joe looked up at referee Charles Robinson in astonishment. Robinson informed him that the time limit had expired. Joe looked down at Tanaka, still almost unconscious on the mat. Joe suddenly started shaking, his head looking like it might explode. The crowd broke out in a “5 MORE MINUTES” chant, but Joe didn’t even seem to hear it. He went to ringside and grabbed a chair, throwing it in the ring. Tanaka was in a seated position, and Joe crashed the chair down over his head. Joe laid the chair in the ring, and picked up Tanaka for the Muscle-Buster, nailing it squarely on the chair. Joe left the ringside area to a mixed reaction from the crowd.

Styles: What a match! 15 minutes and these guys weren’t done yet. I understand Joe is frustrated, as both competitors are now eliminated from the tournament. But did we really need that after the match?

Quarter-Final Tournament Match: Road Dogg v Jeff Jarrett
The announcers talked about the deep history between Jarrett and Road Dogg. First as tag team partners in the then WWF, then as rivals, and good friends, on to their days in TNA together. Jarrett and Road Dogg stood center ring and exchanged words, seeming to come to a conclusion together. Road Dogg put his fist out, and Jarrett quickly tapped it with his and grabbed a headlock to start the match. Back and forth action to open up, including alot of headlocks and attempts to gain the upper hand. At the 5 minute mark, Jarrett attempted to charge Road Dogg in the corner, but Road Dogg got both feet up and floored Jarrett. Road Dogg made the cover for a near fall. Jarrett took control back after a back suplex. He went for a body slam, but Road Dogg fell behind him and pushed him off the ropes into a rollup sequence for another 2 count. Road Dogg nailed a series of punches on Jarrett, and did a little dance on the last one before swinging and missing. Jarrett ducked, and schoolboyed Road Dog for the win!

Jarrett defeats Road Dogg by pinfall in 9:11. (77/78/76)
Post-Match: Road Dogg nearly kicked out, and as both got to their feet, they got in each other’s faces again. It looked like it might come to blows, but they quietly exchanged words before shaking hands and leaving the ring to a nice reaction from the crowd.

Styles: Jeff Jarrett advances in the tournament, and seems to show a bit of a soft side for the first time in years. These two haven’t met in a one on one encounter in a long time, but still put on a great match.

Backstage Segment: Paparazzi Productions
X-pac is walking backstage, and looks to have a purpose. He walks by Shelton Benjamin and accidentally bumps him on the shoulder in passing. Benjamin turns.

Benjamin: Hey, Sean, hope there isn’t any bad beef from tonight. I had no clue Shelley was getting involved. And you know me, I’m a competitor. I want to win. And you take the breaks that life deals you.

X-pac: No man, I know. I just gotta find that little bitch. I don’t know what his problem is anyway.

Benjamin: Well good luck bro. I’m out. Gotta go pay Charlie a visit at the hospital. Great match tonight, and good luck with your pest problem.

X-pac: Thanks man, and congrats on the win. Good luck in that tourney. I wanna see you holding that CSW Title high at Blaze of Glory.

With that, X-pac heads down the hallway before seeing a door marked ALEX SHELLEY. X-pac pushes the door open with force and begins to say something before he is cut off by what he sees inside. A video camera is positioned on a tripod pointed directly at X-pac, and a TV Monitor is sitting right below the camera. A yellow post-it sticker reads “TURN ME ON”. X-pac pulls the sticker off and reaches into his pocket. He stares at the remote control that Shelley left with him earlier in the evening. With a bit of hesitation, he turns on the monitor. Alex Shelley’s face quickly fills the television monitor:

Shelley: That’s good X-pac. Yes, turn it on. Very good. Now listen to me closely cause I’m only gonna say this once. I can see you, so it is only fair that you can see me. Now, I have a lit—

X-pac: Shelley, what the hell is this? And what the hell—

Shelley: Ah-ah-ah X-pac. I didn’t say Shelley Says. Look punk, you made a mistake. You got lucky and you beat me in the first round of the CSW Title Tournament. It may have just been another match to you, but to me it is my destiny. The CSW Title wants to be around my waist, but now it doesn’t get to be because of you. So I did the only fair thing. I set Karma straight, and made sure you didn’t advance any farther either. You can thank me later. Regardless, this leaves a nice little opening in both of our schedules for Tuesday, May 23rd at Kemper Arena. So without further ado, on to our feature presentation: I’ll see your ass in the ring at Blaze of Glory. You wanted to find me, and guess what? You did. And I’ll see you on the 23rd. Bring your wrestling boots sonny! Oh, and just one more thing.

Shelley pulls his own remote control up into the picture, and pushes a button while he mouths a “click” sound. Suddenly, the lights go out in the locker room where X-pac was standing. Commotion fills the room, and after a few passing seconds, the lights switch back on to reveal X-pac lying in a heap next to the now destroyed electronics equipment.

Blaze of Glory Run-down
Back at ringside now with Joey Styles and Bret Hart, who run down the Blaze of Glory card set for this Tuesday, May 23rd at Kemper Arena.

X-pac and Alex Shelley will meet one on one at Blaze of Glory in an effort to settle their differences.

Their first time together in a ring in years, Tazz and Shane Douglas will join forces to take on the team of Austin Aries and Roderick Strong.

Reportedly, the Natural Born Thrillers, Sean O’Haire and Mark Jindrak, will be at Blaze of Glory and have issued an open challenge to any tag team.

Jeff Jarrett will take on Shelton Benjamin in the Semi-Finals of the Owen Hart Memorial Tournament. The winner will move on to face the winner of tonight’s main event in the finals, for the CSW Championship.

A huge 8 man match will kick off the show featuring some of CSW’s best young stars including Brent Albright, Chris Sabin, and Kid Kash. Many new faces will be debuting in this match as well.

The Tag Team Titles will be decided when The Mexicools take on Petey Williams and a partner of his choosing. Williams has been given permission to select any partner to substitute for the injured Eric Young, who is out 7 months with a torn bicep.

And just announced by President Bret Hart, a rematch between Samoa Joe and Masato Tanaka! They may have had a draw in the tournament, but this match will be with no time limit, one fall to a finish.

Quarter-final Tournament Match: Triple H v Billy Gunn
Gunn and Triple H came to the ring as the announcers put over the fact that the winner of this match will be in a great position on Tuesday thanks to the draw earlier in the evening between Samoa Joe and Masato Tanaka. The winner would advance straight to the finals, and would have the evening off, while Shelton Benjamin and Jeff Jarrett face each other in a Semi-Final matchup. Gunn tackled Triple H right when he got into the ring, taking the beating straight to him. They rolled out of the ring, still entangled and fought all around the ringside area. Triple H took control after slamming Gunn’s head into the announce table, and then whipped him into the steel barricade at ringside. Back in the ring, around the 7 minute mark, Triple H stayed on the offensive, and locked Gunn in a sleeper hold, taking him down to the mat. The crowd rallied Gunn back up, where he locked in a sleeper hold of his own, and dropped Triple H to the mat with it, leaving them both lying. The finish came after both men got to their feet and exchanging punches, with Gunn taking the upper hand. He set Triple H up for the Fame-Asser, but Triple H powered out, flipping Gunn over. Gunn landed on his feet, but Triple H kicked him in the stomach, and hit the Pedigree out of nowhere for the win! Triple H advances to the Finals of the Owen Hart Memorial Tournament for the CSW Title.

Triple H defeats Gunn by pinfall in 11:11. (73/71/76)
Post-Match: Triple H looks down at the fallen Billy Gunn as the referee raises his hand. Triple H quickly pulls his arm away from the ref, and rolls out of the ring to grab the ring bell. Gunn slowly gets to his feet, and Triple H levels him with the bell. He looks out at the crowd and grabs hold of Billy Gunn’s leg. He drops elbow after elbow on the prone Gunn, and begins dragging him to the corner. It looked like he was gonna set him up for the figure four around the ringpost just like he did to Charlie Haas, but Road Dogg came flying down the aisle and into the ring. Road Dogg stuns Triple H with a few punches, but Triple H nails a kick to the groin. He picks up the ring bell, and now levels Road Dogg with it as well. Triple H drags Road Dogg to the corner now. He wraps his knee around the post a few times, and then positions himself to put the Figure Four on Road Dogg around the ringpost......

In-Ring Segment: Turning a New Page
Jeff Jarrett comes flying down the aisle and runs to ringside, blindsiding Triple H and sending him into the announcers table. Triple H looks up at him and says “What the hell do you think you’re doing?!”. Jarrett rolls Road Dogg away from the ringpost, and exchanges words with Triple H. Jarrett seems to be saying “Not this way. Not in this tournament”. Triple H is fuming mad standing there listening to Jarrett. Triple H’s expression changes as he seems to be agreeing with Jarrett. He starts walking away from the situation, and Jarrett looks over to check on Gunn as well. Out of nowhere, Triple H charges him and knocks him into the ringside barricade. Jarrett bounces up quickly though, and he and Triple H exchange hard right hands as we go off the air!

Styles: Unbelievable! What have we just seen here. Jeff Jarrett of all people saves the day, and he and Triple H are going at it. Fans we’ve got to go! We’ll see you at Kemper Arena on Tuesday!

SamoaRowe - May 7, 2006 03:03 PM (GMT)
NEW Saturday Night!
May 20th 2006

Week three of NEW Saturday Night kicks off with an updated intro video, now featuring clips from the Kane/Shark Boy/Sonjay Dutt match as well as JBL and Chris Jericho making their entrances. Also added is a teaser shot of The Undertaker!

Ernie Rowe and Professor Plague welcome us to a special tournament edition of NEW Saturday Night. We are airing live from Manchester, NH and we will witness the final four matches in the opening round of the NEW Championship tournament!

-The Rock makes his way to the ring, and he is pissed. He grabs a microphone.

Rock: The Rock is going to make this short and simple: Y2J, get your candy ass out here so The Rock can lay the Smackdown on you monkey-loving son of a bitch!

Several seconds go by, with no response.

The Rock: Chris Jericho, if you don’t come to The Rock, The Rock will come to you. The Rock will tear that entire locker-room apart until… (Rock is cut off by Sonny Siaki’s music).

Siaki: Sorry to disappoint you, Rocky, but Jericho isn’t here tonight. He has a concert gig with Fozzy, and decided that would pay him better than showing up here, tonight.

Rock: That’s a shame. The Rock will just have to kick your ass instead.

The Rock charges up the ramp to brawl with Siaki. They exchange blows when suddenly, The Rock’s opponent tonight, Ric Flair, runs out with a chair. Flair cracks The Rock over the head with it and immediately takes off. Siaki hits the Siakacalypse on The Rock for good measure. This cannot bode will for The Rock’s match later tonight. (100%)

Match 1: Kane vs Mick Foley (Opening Round Tournament Match)

The crowd is rabid for this match between the two more deranged members of the NEW roster. Kane uses his strength to overpower Foley in the early going, even hitting a boot to the face. Kane goes for a chokeslam, but Foley counters with the mandible claw. The action spills to ringside where Ric Flair comes strolling back out with the chair. This distracts Foley, allowing Kane to trap him with a tombstone at ringside. Kane slides Foley back into the ring and pins him at 6:23. The same obnoxious fan from last week has thrown toilet paper streamers into the ring.
Winner: Kane, *** (85/90/70)

Rowe: That’s it, I’ve had enough of Ric Flair. I know he’s one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, but he is ruining New England Wrestling!

Plague: Says you! I haven’t been this entertained since Nitro!

-Backstage, announcer Iron Troy Cumings is standing by with none other than Edge. Iron Troy asks Edge why he speared his own brother, Christian Cage, last week. Edge says he is disgusted by his brother. Edge claims that he is the bigger, stronger, and better wrestler than Christian, but Edge has found nothing but failure while his brother was the actual NWA World Champion. Edge says he is living in poverty while his brother is living the good life. Edge vows to run Christian out of NEW, but tonight he is going to take down the Big Show.

Match 2: Big Show vs Edge (Opening Round Tournament Match)

This is a methodical and plodding match (ie, its kinda boring) with Big Show in control for the most part. Show hits some sick chops across the chest of Edge. Edge desperately rakes the eyes of the Big Show, who stumbles into the referee. Edge uses the brief distraction to hit a field goal kick between the legs of Big Show. Edge follows it up with a spear to gain the victory at 3:45.
Winner: Edge, **3/4 (84/88/77)

Rowe: Edge turned the Big Show’s size advantage into a disadvantage.

Plague: And where the hell is Christian Cage? I was positive he would be interring in this match.

Rowe: Perhaps Christian has more integrity than his jealous, sadistic brother.

-Backstage, Iron Troy is standing by with Gregory Helms. Iron Troy asks Helms how he feels about being The Undertaker’s first opponent in NEW later tonight. Helms states that he is not afraid of The Undertaker and that Taker’s ridiculous gimmicks and mind games will not work on him. Helms promises to become the first ever NEW Champion. (71%)

Match 3: The Rock vs Ric Flair (Opening Round Tournament Match)

The Rock is at an obvious disadvantage from the attacks earlier. This doesn’t stop The Rock from unleashing a barrage of punches on the dirtiest player in the game. Flair fires back with some chops, and they exchange blows for a few minutes. Finally, Flair goes for the figure four, but The Rock reverses it. Since The Rock was about to make it to the ropes, Flair is trapped in the center of the ring and taps out at 6:59! After the match, The Rock hits the Rock Bottom on Flair for good measure.
Winner: The Rock, **1/4 (83/89/71)

Match 4: Team 3D vs The Basham Brothers

This match turns out be surprisingly good. Team 3-D underestimate the Bashams, which results in Brother Devon becoming the face in peril. He suffers a full nelson slam from Doug Basham, and makes a tag to Brother Ray. Unfortunately, the ref missed the tag, so Devon is stranded even longer. Eventually, Brother Devon hits a double DDT on both Bashams and makes the tag to his brother. Brother Ray cleans house, and hits the Bubba Bomb on Danny Basham for the victory at 8:10!
Winners: Team 3-D, ***3/4 (84/78/91)

After the match, Team 3-D is jumped by two new faces: James Storm and Chris Harris, America’s Most Wanted! AMW hit the Death Sentence on both members of Team 3-D, leaving them down and out!

Rowe: America’s Most Wanted were out to make an impact tonight, and I would dare say they accomplished that!

Plague: The tag team division here in NEW is firing up!

Match 5: The Undertaker vs Gregory Helms (Opening Round Tournament Match)

Gregory Helms is the first to the ring and he looks more nervous than he let on earlier. Then the arena goes dark… and the terrifying sound of a gong travels through the arena… and then…. “Dead Man Walking.” The lights come back on, strobe lights light up the arena, and the sound of a motorcycle can be heard. It’s the return of Biker Taker! The Undertaker rides into the arena to a monster pop. He quickly enters the ring and quickly tangles up with Helms. Undertaker hits all of his signature spots, including the old school rope walk, the legdrop on the apron, and even whips Helms into the steel steps at ringside. Helms in a daze, but manages to hit some offense of his own on Undertaker. Helms drops Taker with a dropkick and puts him in a sleeper. Undertaker fights out of it and hits the Last Ride on Helms for the win at 6:50!
Winner: The Undertaker, **1/4 (78/81/74)

Rowe: That was awesome! The Undertaker has returned in all his glory!

Plague: The NEW stars are in big trouble! When the Undertaker is in his biker form, he is faster and more aggressive!

Rowe: I would not be surprised one bit if Undertaker goes on to win this tournament!

Plague: Speaking of which, what do we have to look forward to next week?

Rowe: Next week, the quarter finals begin! Plus, I have been informed that John Bradshaw Layfield has demanded interview time!

Plague: I’m totally there!

NWA: Mid-Atlantic's Saturday Night Flood
Tonight special guest commentators Prof. Plague and TheGreatWhiteChoate accompany Jim Ross and Commissioner Bobby “The Brain” Heenan.

Air Paris is in the ring, calling out the Boogeyman. He gets the crowd to start chanting “Nobody’s afraid of the Boogeyman!” Then he says that only little snotnosed kids would be afraid of somebody as ridiculous as that, and calls himself “the high monarch of NWA: Mid-Atlantic. Suddenly the ring goes dark and the Boogeyman’s music starts to play. As ringside announcer Plague goes nuts and color commentator TheGreatWhiteChoate leaves to pick up his pizza, Air Paris calmly picks up a chair and waits. The Boogeyman appears behind him and smashes a clock over his head. Air Paris nearly wets his tights. The Boogeyman picks up Air Paris by the throat and says “I’M THE BOOGEYMAN!” A quick chokeslam, the lights come back on, and the match is underway.

Commissioner Bobby Heenan is in the ring:
So, in case everyone hasn’t noticed, there’s a little gap in our Fisticuffs Title Tournament. In the first round Ultimate Warrior is supposed to take on a mystery opponent. Now, here’s the we need, we need someone take that spot. There are 34 people in NWA: Mid-Atlantic. There’s 33 wrestlers and me, a Commissioner Bobby Heenan, and I need someone to take on the Ultimate Warrior tonight. And, as much as I would like wrestle the Ultimate Warrior, I have hurt neck; so, like hell I’m gonna wrestle him. This leaves 33, and as much as I would like to see the Ultimate Warrior wrestle himself and in a match and pin himself, that doesn’t work. So, this leave me with one wrestler, but I want to get everyone involved, so I have decided the Ultimate Warrior will be in a handicap match tonight against the two people are aren’t currently in the tournament: Romeo and Antonio, the Heart Throbs! If the Heart Throbs win, they will wrestle one-on-one to decide who take that spot in the tournament. If the Ultimate Warrior win, well he just advances in the tournament with no strings attached. So Ultimate Warrior, Heart Throbs, get down here so we can see who takes this tournament slot.

dynamite kido - May 8, 2006 02:45 PM (GMT)
Tenay: Welcome everyone to the May 20, 2006 version of ICHIBAN TV!!!!!!!! I’m Mike Tenay here with Dave Meltzer and we are sure to have a great show for you here tonight.

DM: That’s right Iron Mike, we got an action packed evening of action for the fans here and at home.

Tenay: Tonight you’ll see a semifinal round match in our Junior Heavyweight title tournament as KENTA takes on the very talented TAKA Michinoku. Also we will see Minoru Suzuki go one on one with Kensuke Sasaki.

DM: That’s right, and also we are going to see a HUGE debut this week here in Ichiban TV when legendary Japanese wrestling superstar Keiji Mutoh makes his NWA Japan debut against Shibata.

Tenay: I can’t wait for that myself Dave. Also we are going to have a first time matchup between Taiyo Kea and the young superstar in Hiroshi Tanahashi. But the reason we are ALL here is for the dream tag team partner matchup tonight with Kenta Kobashi’s team vs. Genichiro Tenryu’s team. What do you think we’ll see here Dave?

DM: Well, I have no idea Mike. Anything can happen in professional wrestling and TONIGHT…….it probably will.

Tenay: Very true, let’s get to the right where we have our opening contest between KENTA and TAKA Michinoku. Standing leg lariat by KENTA on TAKA. KENTA strikes TAKA.

DM: Legsweep out of nowhere. Second rope flying axe handle, TAKA goes down.

Tenay: KENTA only gets knees on a splash. TAKA Michinoku hits a rolling kick on KENTA. Back heel kick from TAKA. Pin : 1....2..no. These two are really going at it during the early goings of this match.

(42)

Tenay: Next up folks we have Kensuke Sasaki and Minoru Suzuki in the ring and ready to go for our next matchup.

DM: This one is going to be ugly friends. Sasaki is a big bruiser and Suzuki isn’t intimidated by anyone. This one is gonna be a FIGHT!

Tenay: Kensuke Sasaki hits some punches. Sasaki hitting the spinning neckbreaker on Suzuki. Pin : 1....2..no. Almost a 3.

DM: Suzuki reverses a Kensuke Sasaki hammerlock. Wow, more wrestling in the getgo here than I expected.

Tenay: Running clothesline from Minoru Suzuki. Sasaki takes a harsh kick right there to the face. Minoru Suzuki with a badly-executed spinning neckbreaker on Sasaki. That one looked like it caused major pain……….look at the face of Sasaki.

DM: Sasaki blocks a suplex attempt. Massive backbreaker, Suzuki got planted. It looks like Sasaki might be moving in for the kill here.

Tenay: Northern Lights Bomb!!! That shook the ring. 1....2....3!!

DM: Kensuke Sasaki gives a murderous look toward Minoru Suzuki...and attacks! Suzuki gets dropped to the canvas, then battered with a barrage of rights and lefts. Sasaki leaves the ring having left Suzuki down and out.

Tenay: Sasaki absolutely took him apart after getting the win. It looks as if Suzuki may be injured there.

Winner - Kensuke Sasaki (48/40/56)

Tenay: There you have it ladies and gentleman, the 16 man, single elimination tournament for the NWA Japan Heavyweight title. Let’s keep the action rolling with another matchup!!!!

DM: This one is going to be a SERIOUS contest between two guys that just so happen to be meeting in the first round of the Heavyweight title tournament. We can even call this one an early preview Iron Mike!

Tenay: Kea bodyslams Hiroshi Tanahashi. Hiroshi Tanahashi fights out of a grapple. These two arent’ wasting anytime.

DM: Back suplex on Kea. Kea reverses an irish whip...and Hiroshi Tanahashi runs into the referee!

Tenay: Hiroshi Tanahashi scores with a released tiger suplex on Kea. Hooks the leg, but there's no referee to make the count!!!!!!!

DM: Kea counters a sleeper hold by turning it into a jaw breaker. Big dropkick by Taiyo Kea, who got good elevation.

Tenay: Tanahashi walks into a jaw breaker. Cover! 1....2...kick out. Flapjack from Kea. Cover! 1....2....kick out at the last second! Fast paced action here!

DM: Kea looks shocked. He thought he had him there. Tanahashi slips out the back of a Taiyo Kea bodyslam.

Tenay: Hiroshi Tanahashi hits a delayed suplex on Kea. Pin : 1....2....kick out! A split-second away from a three.

DM: Tanahashi walks into a trip. The referee gets hit by a wild right hand and is down. This certainly hasn’t been the officials best day.

Tenay: Hiroshi Tanahashi floors Kea, then signals for the Sling Blade. Meanwhile, Taiyo Kea has something in his hands. Tanahashi comes over...and gets nailed with a set of brass knuckles! Just in time for The referee 1....2....3!

DM: This one isn’t over. The fight has started up again! Taiyo Kea attacks Tanahashi, and they brawl all around ringside, then into the crowd!

Tenay: Both of them are fighting through the curtains.

Tenay: WOW, well you’ve seen the video, NOW SEE THE SUPERSTAR!!!!!

Tenay: It’s now time for the main event and the unveiling of the “dream partners”. Kobashi and Tenryu are both already in the ring. Up first Tenryu’s partner……….

user posted image

Tenay: IT’S KAWADA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The crowd is going crazy and I know that Kobashi isn’t happy about this. Kawada and Kobashi have faced off several times years ago in the All Japan Promotion.

DM: There was always competition between these two as they came up around the same time in AJPW and this one is gonna be UNREAL. I can’t wait to see who Kobashi’s partner is………

Tenay: Who is it?

user posted image

DM: IT’S MITSUHARU MISAWA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tenay: That’s unbelievable.

DM: That’s the perfect partner for Kobashi. Kawada has always had a hardtime in his career beating Misawa and I don’t think that Misawa and Tenryu have actually EVER been in there together. This couldn’t have been better Iron Mike.

Tenay: Mitsuharu Misawa strikes Kawada! They both look like they want to kill each other. Kawada walks into a spinning heel kick. Hooks the leg : 1....2....shoulder up.

DM: Toshiaki Kawada reverses a hip toss. Bodyslam by Kawada. Hard slam by Kawada. Kawada tags out to Genichiro Tenryu.

Abyss is staring directly into the camera. So much so that all you can see on the screen is his face. He's breathing heavily

Joey Styles: Not exactly the best way to start off our show, here at Gray's Armory in Cleveland, Ohio. But Abyss kidnapped our camera man, and he apparently wants to speak.

Jimmy Bauer: Well, Joey, why don't you shut up so we can hear?

Abyss steps back and JAMES MITCHELL steps forward

Joey Styles: What the... JAMES MITCHELL? When did he show up here????

James Mitchell: Last week, Batista, you made an egregious comment. You told Josh Matthews that with Abyss, what you see is what you get...

Well, TONIGHT, you will see that Abyss is MUCH more than what you see. Because what you see is a 6'8", 300 pound human being. But what Abyss really is... well, he's a 6'8", 300 pound Weapon of Mass Destruction. And when The Monster is done with The Animal, all that will be left of you is a pile of bones and a puddle of blood. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Abyss: HWUUUUUAAAAA!!!! -67%

Match #1:The British Invasion vs. the Lords of the Ring

Joey Styles: We're here at Gray's Armory in Clevelan, Ohio, and we're starting our in-ring action off tonight with a tag team match. Nigel McGuinness & Paul Burchill are in the left corner, with Nick Dinsmore & Rob Conway in the right corner.

Bauer From your TV Screen, that is. You can't just assume these things, Joey.

The match starts off with Nigel and Dinsmore squaring off. Some good ring work between the two. They seem evenly matched. Nigel tags in Burchill, who plays his power advantage well. Dinsmore works free and tags in Conway. Conway and Burchill stand nose to nose.

Styles: I hope for there sake that these guys haven't eaten any Taco Bell lately..

Bauer: I wish for mine that you hadn't.

Burchill goes for the first punch, and Conway blocks it. Conway takes the upperhand and the two brawl back and forth. It looks like Conway is going to win it for the Lords of the Ring.

Styles: This could be it for this match!

Nigel steps into the ring, which brings Dinsmore in. Nigel steps out quickly, and the ref starts yelling for Dinsmore to do the same. This allows Nigel to low blow Conway as Conway is in a collar and elbow tie up with Burchill.

Styles: Can someone get the ref some glasses?

Burchill and McGuinness hit their finisher.

Styles: ENGLAND PREVAILS!!!

and the ref FINALLY turns around, just in time to count to 3.

WINNERS: The British Invasion 68/60/77

Bauer: These two are doing their country proud.

Styles: Does EVERYONE in England cheat? Because their wrestlers love to.

BACKSTAGE...

Josh Matthews: Homicide, last week you ran in during a 3 way X division match between Onyx, Delirious, and Jerry Lynn. The question has to be asked: WHY?

Homicide: It HAS to be asked? It HAS to be asked? Did you not watch that match? Did you not see a loony moron, an old man and a Homicide wannabe pretending to be X Division? I set the bar on the first episode of Saturday Night against Paul London. I set the bar, and I set it high. And until I find someone who can meet the standard I've set for the X Division, I'll stop these losers from bringing down what I've built up.

Styles: Does this mean he's gonna keep interfering?? -55%

Match #2: Batista vs. Abyss-Championship Tournament Semifinals

Styles: Man, is this match going to be a brawl.

Bauer: No doubt, Joey. This match is going to be a knock
down drag out beatdown.

James Mitchell is at ringside with Abyss. Batista asks the referee if Mitchell has to stay, and the referee tells him that Mitchell hasn't done anything yet. Abyss takes this as an opening and attacks Batista. Batista stumbles and Abyss follows, CLOBBERING Batista. Abyss throws Batista into the corner, and charges at him.

Styles: This is gonna hurt!!!

Batista comes out with a clothesline and stumbles down afterwards. Both men take a moment before getting to their feet.

Bauer: This is EPIC.

The men stand facing each other. Batista puts his hand up, and Abyss stares. Abyss looks back at Mitchell, who signals for Abyss to crush Batista's hands. The two lock up in a test of strength, and Abyss gets the upperhand right away.

Styles: I can't believe that Batista is losing....

Batista turns it around and takes advantage.

Styles: Sorry, spoke too soon.

Abyss ducks his head down, and delivers a back body drop to Batista. Batista stumbles up, but Abyss stomps him back down. Abyss throws Batista out of the ring, then throws him into the guardrail. Batista turns the tide and goes for the Batista Bomb, but can't because his back is hurting him from the guardrail.

Bauer: He's not strong enough to lift Abyss!

Abyss walks around and reaches under the ring. While the ref yells at Abyss, James Mitchell comes around and lifts his cane.

Styles:He's gonna hit Batista!

Batista turns around as Mitchell has the cane in the air. Mitchell freezes.

Styles: Looks like Mitchell's going to get what's coming to him!

Batista kicks Mitchell in the stomach.

Bauer: This is dispicable, Styles. Mitchell didn't do anything!

Batista delivers a Batista Bomb on Mitchell, who splats on the mats outside the ring. Batista climbs back into the ring. Abyss wanders back over and looks at Mitchell on the floor, and then looks at Batista.

Styles: What's he gonna do?

Abyss climbs back into the ring. He starts wailing away at Batista in anger, but Batista is staying a step ahead of The Monster. After a few moments of the same, Abyss roars in frustration. This allows Batista to throw Abyss into the ropes and nail him with the spinebuster.

Styles: Abyss may be in trouble!!!

Abyss stumbles to his feet, and Batista is ready as he sets Abyss up...

Styles: BATISTA BOMB!!!!

Batista goes for the cover and gets the 1-2-3.

WINNER: Batista, who advances to the finals. 75/77/71

Bauer: Batista assaulted Mitchell! He assaulted an unarmed man who was not involved in this match!

Styles: You can hardly say he wasn't involved, Jimmy. He was ready to beat Batista with his cane.

Bauer: Innocent until proven guilty, Styles. It's the American way.

Styles: Speaking of the American way, NWA Midwest would like to announce that on Sunday, June 4th, we'll be holding our very first Pay Per View Event, Summer Glory. The main event will be Batista vs. the winner of William Regal and Chris Benoit for the NWA Midwestern Championship.

Bauer: And you can keep up on DWBNWAMidwest.com to see if there will be any more matches announced, or just tune in here EVERY Saturday Night....

Batista celebrates on his way up the ramp.

BACKSTAGE....

Terry Funk: I hear it and see it everywhere I go. When I step into locker rooms, I see the look in the eyes of the young kids. They pity me. Their eyes look at me, saying "Terry, please retire."
When I go home to the Double Cross Ranch in Amarillo Texas,my wife gives me a hug when I walk in the door. In tears, she tells me dinner's on the table, and asks me if I'm ready to quit yet.
My kids and my grandkids come to visit. "Grandpa can't get on the floor and play with you honey, his knees hurt." But I know she's seen me taking punishment in the ring, getting up and down without a problem. She doesn't believe me. She just thinks Grandpa doesn't want to play with her.
And now, Ken Kennedy, you come here, and starting spouting that at me in the one place where I've ALWAYS felt safe from it. In the ring. You spout jokes out like it's funny. Like it's funny that I have bills to pay, and only one way to pay them. Like it's funny that my wife cries every time I step through the door because I'm in worse shape than the last time I came home. Well I'll tell you something right now, Kennedy. I don't think it's funny. And I don't like that you do. -84%

Styles: Sounds like trouble for Ken Kennedy

Bauer: Sounds to me like Terry Funk doesn't know who he's up against

MATCH #3: CM Punk vs. Jimmy Jacobs

Styles: You know, it's about time I see CM Punk in action. I've been watching those promos for weeks, and I'm wondering if he can live up to the hype.

Bauer: Sit back and relax, Joey, you are about to see the man in action, and you're gonna be impressed.

Jimmy offers his hand to Punk, who immediately slaps it away. The fans boo. Punk looks at them, and then flips them the bird.

Styles: Blatant disrespect to the fans by CM Punk.

Punk locks up with Jimmy, and wrenches his arm. Punk then kicks Jimmy in the stomach, which doubles Jacobs over. Punk then hits the knee lift to Jacobs face, dropping Jacobs to the floor. Punk still has Jacob's arm wrenched.

Bauer: Is that not impressive Joey?

Punk wrenches Jacob's arm and backs Jimmy into the corner. Punk shoves his right elbow in Jimmy's face. He makes a fist with his right hand and uses his left hand to drive his elbow into Jacob's face.

Styles: Jimmy's gonna feel that in the morning.

Punk continues on, taunting both Jimmy and the crowd. Finally, he brings Jimmy to the corner where he hits the Pepsi Plunge.

WINNER: CM Punk 68/56/81

Styles: Quite an impressive outing, but I don't know if beating Jimmy Jacobs is going to prove his dominance here, though....

Bauer: It's just the beginning, Joey. Just the beginning.

BACKSTAGE...

Josh Matthews: I'm here with The Rabid Wolverine, Chris Benoit. Chris, I've been told to ask you why the NWA Midwestern Championship Tournament is so important to you.

Benoit: Josh Matthews, I don't think anyone needs to be told why I want the NWA Midwestern Title. It's a symbol. A symbol that says that I am the BEST wrestler in this company. THE BEST. No questions asked. That's all I've ever wanted, since before I even started in this business, to be the best.
Tonight, I'll make it one step closer. I'll beat William Regal, and I'll face Batista at Summer Glory.
Hell, I'll BEAT Batista. Because I'm the BEST Wrestler in this company. And if anyone doubts it, they can PROVE ME WRONG. -69%

Match #4: Chris Benoit vs. William Regal-Championship Tournament Semifinals

Styles: I've been waiting for this all night! I've got goosebumps!

Bauer: You sure they're not just pimples?

Styles: Of course I'm... Shut up, Bauer.

Benoit and Regal lock up. Of course the match involves lots of stiff technicality. Regal is taking a lot more than he's dishing out at first, but he fires back pretty heavily.

Styles: Those chops are so stiff I'm getting bruised!

Regal backs Benoit into a corner. Benoit gets out by headbutting Regal repeatedly. Regal backs up and stumbles down, eventually rolling out of the ring. Benoit takes a minute to catch his breath before following.

Bauer: This is turning into my kind of match...

Benoit reaches for Regal, who pulls Benoit face first into the stairs. Regal then rolls back into the ring. Regal and the ref argue for a moment, which allows Bill Alfonso to jump over the guardrail.

Styles: What the hell is Bill Alfonso doing here?

Bauer: You seem to be asking that a lot tonight, Joey.

Styles: Well, first James Mitchell, now Bill Alfonso. I'm having a serious case of Deja Vu.

Alfonso leans down and blows his whistle right into Chris Benoit's ear. LOUDLY. (as if Alfonso knew any other way) Regal hops down and looks at Alfonso before rolling Benoit into the ring.

Styles: Benoit is holding his ear...

Regal does a series of knee lifts that put Benoit on his back. Regal goes for the cover...

Styles: Bill Alfonso has cost Chris Benoit a shot at the NWA Midwestern Championship!!!

WINNER: William Regal, who advances to the finals against Batista. 82/77/87

Styles: Benoit will not be happy when he comes around!!!

Enjoyed the show quite a bit. Liked your format, although I wasn't crazy about the formatTING. It was kind of hard to read whatever font you were using for the Match Headings. Good show though, with some great angle development and build to your super show. Speaking of which:

Speaking of the American way, NWA Midwest would like to announce that on Sunday, June 4th, we'll be holding our very first Pay Per View Event, Summer Glory

You are doing a "Large Event", not a Pay Per View, correct? PPV's are reserved for the NWA only I thought. Our territories only do Large Events.

Big F'N Swigg - May 9, 2006 09:40 PM (GMT)
Either way. I didn't know if we were just reserving the PPV's for the NWA or not. Television/Events is on my to do list when it comes to rules, so we'll hack that out when we're done with Champions.

So yeah, it'll be a Large Event. That's cool with me

jamiegeist - May 9, 2006 09:43 PM (GMT)
Groovy. I think Large Events serves us best, since we are just territories Of the National Company and all.

Gives it that special feel when we do a PPV too.
