CSW Cyclone Saturday Night

May 13, 2006
Announcers: Joey Styles & Tazz
Kansas City Uptown Theatre

Cyclone Spotlight: Nova v Brent Albright
Cyclone opened up with the introduction of the Cyclone Spotlight match. The announcers talked about the stipulations, and the opportunities for guys to make an impact on Cyclone. They re-enforced the “winner stays” structure of the Spotlight feature. Albright and Nova went right to work on each other, clicking quite well. Nova got mixed reactions from the crowd, but generally drew a lot of heat, returning to his old persona. Albright worked over Nova’s arm and shoulder heavily in this match, but Nova took control after a powerbomb. Nova set Albright up for the Curb Stomp, but Albright yanked his arm forward, sending Nova to the mat, and wrenched on him with the Crowbar for the victory!

Albright defeats Nova by submission in 7:21 *1/4 (64/48/80)

Tazz: This kid Brent Albright gets the win again, and we’ll be seeing him again next week to open up Cyclone! Very impressive submission work from the youngster.

Backstage Segment: Looking ahead?
A close-up shot of the brackets for the Owen Hart Memorial Tournament shows the current round, and slowly pulls away to reveal Samoa Joe examining the brackets to see who he’ll face in the next round. A voice comes from outside of the picture:

Voice: Don’t look too far ahead, or you might see something you don’t wanna see.

Triple H walks into the picture as Joe just looks up with a bit of a disgusted look on his face.

Triple H: Yeah, I checked it out too. Let’s see here. Next week, after I advance I head to the semi-finals at Blaze of Glory I’ll face one of three guys. Everyone is talking about this potential showdown between me and this Joe fella. Have you heard of him? I think its Somalia, or Saskatchewan, or....ah....Samoa Joe, that’s right.

Joe, still with a grimace, almost turns it into a smile as he turns and begins to walk away. Triple H grabs his arm, and Joe looks up, any hint of a smile disappearing.

Triple H: Wait a minute there. I feel so embarrassed. You’re him, aren’t you! I just...well, expected a little more. I’ve heard all about this “Submission Machine” and all this stuff. You just look kind of....well, kind of short, kind of flabby. You kind of look like nothing special. And I saw what you did out there last week. Put that little sleeper-hold on and then didn’t wanna let go. It wasn’t very nice really. But did you see what “I” did? That’s how you make an impact, kid. I damn near tore Charlie Haas’ knee clean off the bone. Sure, everyone knew my name before, but now there won’t be any confusion as to my intentions. And speaking of intentions, I wanna let you know something right now. If you ever, and I mean ever, get in my wa---

Joe gives a quick flinch to Triple H with his shoulders and arms, stopping him dead in his tracks and making him jump backwards and stumble over an equipment box on the floor. Joe smiles and turns to walk away, leaving Triple H sitting there, enraged, with his nostrils flaring. He kicks the equipment box out of the way and climbs to his feet.

1st Round Tournament Match: Jeff Jarrett v Kid Kash
All tournament matches are contested under a 15 minute limit. Jarrett and Kash both came out to the ring to negative reactions from the crowd, although Jarrett’s was a bit louder. They started in the center of the ring, exchanging words, and then Kash slapped Jarrett, getting things started for a bit of a brawl. Jarrett worked on grounding the high-flying Kash in the middle of the match, working on his knee with everything from the Ric Flair playbook. Kash came back at the end and tried for a moonsault. Jarrett rolled out of the way, and then picked Kash up and nailed the Stroke for the win.

Jarrett defeats Kash by pinfall in 7:43. ** (70/59/81)

Styles: Great debut for Jeff Jarrett here in CSW. He seemed very on track and focused on what he was doing, and it’s nice to see him out here alone for once.

1st Round Tournament Match: Austin Aries v Billy Gunn
Gunn and Aries took it right to each other in this contest of old v new. Aries looked very good in there, and used his quickness to take it to Gunn with a differing style of high impact moves and matwork. Gunn went for a back suplex, but Aries flipped behind him and nailed a German Suplex for a near fall. Gunn took control after a series of clotheslines, and set Aries up for the Fame-asser with a kick to the stomach. As Gunn jumped, Aries moved out of the way, and snatched him up into a Brainbuster. Aries didn’t cover, and instead dragged Gunn to the corner. Aries went up top for the 450 Splash, but Gunn moved out the way. As Aries got to his feet, Gunn leaped up and hit the Fame-Asser for the win!

Gunn defeats Aries by pinfall in 9:04. *3/4 (68/63/74)

Styles: Great win for Billy Gunn, advancing him in the tournament where he’ll face his former friend Triple H in the quarter-finals. Gunn is celebrating his victory down the aisle, and it looks like Shane Douglas is going to try and get a word in the ring with Austin Aries.

In-Ring Segment: The Franchise wants some answers?
Douglas: Austin Aries, congratulations on a great match, but a tough loss at the end.

Douglas puts the mic towards Aries, who barely gives it a glance.

Douglas: Well Austin, it seems so far in CSW that the veterans have been controlling things around here. We’ve seen such up and coming stars as Kid Kash, Roderick Strong, James Gibson, and now yourself fall to some more established veterans with years of experience behind them. What are your thoughts on that?

Douglas again extends the microphone towards Aries, but Aries just gives him a drop-dead look.

Douglas: Listen kid, I’m not trying to be hard on you here. Just trying to give you a ch—

Aries cuts him off and grabs the microphone from him.

Aries: My thoughts? My thoughts on losing? It SUCKS! What do you think old man? You think I enjoy losing a match? Hell no. But the last thing I need after a loss is to have your old ass sliding in here and interrogating me. You wanna know what I think of all these supposed “veterans” getting the wins around here?

As Aries is talking to Douglas, right in his face, Roderick Strong slides into the ring behind Douglas, watching Aries’ every word.

Aries: Yeah, so what. Billy Gunn beat me one time. I made a mistake. I thought he was all washed up, and I was wrong. He might have 2 or 3 good matches left in him. But not you Shane. You ARE all washed up, and I bet it kills you to be in here doing this mop-up duty, doesn’t it?

Aries extends the mic toward Douglas, but quickly pulls it away, and Douglas doesn’t look happy.

Aries: What’s that Shane? You miss the in-ring action? But your old ass knees just won’t allow it anymore? Well maybe you just need a little push to get back in there.

Roderick Strong shoves Shane from behind, who is caught off guard. As he turns to Strong, Aries kicks him in the back of the knee, and he and Strong double-team Douglas to the ground. The pound on him with stomps and kicks, before picking him up for a double team maneuver. Austin Aries heads to the top rope as Roderick Strong sets up Douglas in a powerbomb position. Just then, Tazz rushes in from the announcer’s table and charges at Strong, who, along with Aries, bails out of the ring and heads up the aisle. Tazz leans over and checks on Douglas, who gets up, infuriated, and stares down the two youngsters in the aisle.

1st Round Tournament Match: Masato Tanaka v Low-Ki
Great match from these two with a ton of stiff punches, kicks, and elbows from both. Every time Tanaka seemed to be taking the upper hand, Ki would respond with a vicious kick, flooring him. Around the 5 minute mark, they brawled to the outside and exchanged vicious moves on the floor. Ki dropped Tanaka with a brainbuster, and then went to the apron and jumped off, trying to hit a double stomp on Tanaka on the floor. Tanaka moved out of the way, and then nailed Ki with a powerbomb into the ring apron. Around the 10 minute mark, both men were back in the ring, and Tanaka set Ki up for a German Suplex. Ki flipped out of it, and nailed a swank kick to the head of Tanaka for a very close 2 count. Ki went up top again, but Tanaka crotched him on the top rope. Tanaka pulled him forward, Ki’s feet still hanging on to the top rope, and nailed a DDT, planting Ki on his head for another close 2 count. As both men got to their feet, Tanaka blocked a Ki kick, and then went for a Roaring Elbow, which Ki ducked, but Tanaka came right back with another, flooring Ki and scoring the 3 count, barely.

Result: Tanaka defeats Low-Ki by pinfall in 12:42. *** (80/71/90)
Post-Match: As both men were still laying on the ground from the intense matchup they just had, Samoa Joe got into the ring. He ran towards the still fallen Low-Ki and nailed a Senton on him, before picking him up, setting him on the top rope, and nailing him with a Muscle Buster. He then drew his attention to Tanaka, and floored him with a running kick to the face. Joe then pulled Tanaka up to the top rope with him, and nailed an Island Driver, jumping off the middle rope. He then picked Tanaka up by his head, looked straight into the camera, and slapped the Kokina Clutch on Tanaka.

Tazz: What a great match from these two. Tanaka barely scores the hard-fought win, only for Samoa Joe to come down here and ruin everything these two just did. I think he knows he has nothing to prove to us.

Qualifying CSW Tag Team Title Match: Doring & Roadkill v Team Canada
Danny Doring and Eric Young started in the ring. Young seemed to be genuinely frightened by Roadkill during the match. Any time he tagged in, Young quickly made the tag to his partner, Petey Williams. Petey took it right to the big man though, matching power with power, and using his speed to gain the advantage. Both teams used great double-team maneuvers as well. A bit of a pier-six brawl broke out when all 4 men ended up in the ring. Roadkill and Young then spilled to the outside, where Roadkill sent Young hard into the post. Young’s arm was dangling as if it could have gotten legitimately injured. Petey nailed Roadkill with a baseball slide dropkick, sending him into the announcers table. Doring nailed Petey in the middle of the ring with a spinebuster as he got up. Doring bounced off the ropes, where Eric Young widly swung a hockey stick up and into the back of Doring’s head. Doring stumbled off the ropes, and Petey grabbed him and nailed the Canadian Destroyer for the win!

Team Canada defeats Doring & Roadkill by pinfall in 8:30. *3/4 (69/57/82)
Post-Match: Petey helped Young to the back, who still looked legitimately hurt and worried as his arm dangled down to his side.

Styles: Impressive teamwork by Team Canada, even if it wasn’t the most noble of circumstances. The real question is Eric Young’s arm. What exactly happened when he ran into that ring post, and what will his status be for Blaze of Glory now that we know it’ll be the Mexicools v Team Canada for the CSW Tag Team Titles?

1st Round Tournament Match: Ken Shamrock v Shelton Benjamin
Shelton Benjamin came out to the ring first, and grabbed the microphone:

Shelton: Triple H, I just want you to know that because of what you did last week to Charlie Haas, he is currently at home spending time with his family, unable to do the thing he loves to do more than anything else: wrestle. Charlie, this match, and the rest of this tournament to crown the first CSW Champion is dedicated to you brother.

Ken Shamrock headed to the ring to a nice reaction from the crowd, seemingly unfazed by Shelton’s dedication. He took it right to Shelton with hard right hands, showing the intensity we hadn’t seen since he last appeared in the WWE. Shamrock immediately went to ground Shelton, and went to work on his knee and ankle. Benjamin managed to escape Shamrock’s attempts, and kept himself distance from the former UFC fighter. Around the 6 minute mark, Shelton knocked Shamrock to the outside, and followed with a suicide dive over the top rope to a huge crowd reaction. Shelton threw him back in the ring, but only got a 2 count. Shelton then went up top and came off with a cross body block for another 2 count. Around the 10 minute mark, Shamrock caught a high kick from Shelton, and spun him around. Shelton tried to kick him with his opposite leg, but Shamrock caught that one as well, and dropped Shelton into the ankle-lock. Luckily for Shelton, he was close to the ropes, and got the break at 12 minutes as the ring announcers told us there were 3 MINUTES LEFT. Shelton reverses a Shamrock whip to the corner and set him up for the T-Bone suplex, but Shamrock elbowed Shelton in the head, and instead hit a belly-to-belly suplex for a 2 count. 2 MINUTES LEFT. Shamrock grabbed Shelton’s leg and lifted him from the mat, standing on one leg. He then hit a vicious dragon-screw leg whip, and kept hold of the ankle, right in to the ankle-lock. Shelton was right in the middle of the ring, and couldn’t reach the ropes. 1 MINUTE LEFT. Shamrock wrenched on the ankle as Shelton bit into his own hand to fight the pain. With one last gasp, Shelton flung his leg forward, sending Shamrock over head and into a pinning predicament for the 3 count!

Shelton Benjamin defeats Ken Shamrock by pinfall in 14:28. ***1/4 (83/81/85)
Post-Match: Shamrock looked upset, but shook Shelton’s hand, congratulating him on a tough victory. Shamrock lifted Shelton’s hand in the air and pointed to him as the crowd echoed his sentiment.

Tazz: What a match, and what a victory for Shelton Benjamin. I’m officially making him my pick to go the distance and bring home the CSW Championship at Blaze of Glory!

NEW Saturday Night!
May 13th 2006

-The show opens with a car pulling into the parking lot. It is a surprisingly beat down piece of crap car. The door opens and out steps… the Rated R Superstar, Edge! Edge looks angry and he storms into the building. (79)

-The opening video for NEW Saturday Night plays! The opening video is set to “World Wide Suicide” by Pearl Jam. The clips include Foley and Flair brawling, Team 3D putting Big Show through a table, and the Rock laying out Sonny Siaki.

-Ernie Rowe and Professor Plague welcome us to the show! This week is airing out of a high school gymnasium in Boston, Massachusetts. The same stage from last week has been set up and the fans are on their feet.

Match 1: Ric Flair vs D'Lo Brown

The crowd is disappointedly not into this match, though D’Lo tries really hard to get some face heat. Flair uses every cheap shot in the book, including raking Brown’s eyes on the ropes. Flair is cheating just for fun, not because he needs to rely on it to win. Flair hits a low blow and sets Brown up for the figure four, to which Brown taps out at 5:55!

Winner: Ric Flair, *1/2 (72/75/68)

Plague: They don’t call him the “dirtiest player in the game for nothing!

Rowe: That was disgraceful. Flair could have wrestled a clean, competitive match, but decided to cheat for the sheer hell out it!

Commercial break.

-After the break, Flair is still in the ring. He has a microphone.

Flair: WHOOOOOOOOOO! That’s how I get it done! I’m the dirtiest player in the game, and I’m still the greatest wrestler in the world! How I got stuck in this piece of crap promotion known as New England Wrestling is beyond me! I’m a long ways away from Flair Country and I can tell. For starters, you asshole fans don’t respect me, but that’s okay because I don’t respect you either. You know why? Because you choose to cheer that fat, out of shape, blob known as Mick Foley! You people… (Flair is cut off by Foley’s music).

Foley: That’s enough, Ric. You can say whatever you want about me, I can take it, but what the hell do you think you are doing bad-mouthing New England Wrestling? I am damn proud to be here and I think NEW has the potential to be the greatest promotion North America has seen in a long time. In my opinion, Flair, if NEW sucks it is because we are stuck with a locker-room cancer like you!

Foley then drops the mic and charges the ring. Flair and Foley get into another brawl. However, before any referees can stop this one, Foley pulls Mr. Socko out of his sweat pants and puts it on his hand and shoves it down the throat of Ric Flair. Flair finally escapes and vomits at ringside. (88%).

Commercial break.

Match 2: Rene Dupree vs Tajiri (Opening Round Tournament Match)

This turns into a clean little match. Dupree takes control of Tajiri in the early going, but Tajiri fires back and hits all of his signature spots, including the Tarantula and some stiff kicks to Dupree’s head. Unfortunately, Tajiri goes for a flying crossbody off the ropes, and Dupree reverses it into a roll up and gets the pinfall victory at 4:15.

Winner: Rene Dupree, ** (72/69/75)

Rowe: That was an impressive victory by the “French Phenom” Rene Dupree.

-Backstage, Chris Jericho is walking around looking for someone. Finally, he catches Sonny Siaki, who is putting his boots on.

Jericho: Hey, Sonny, how’s it going?

Siaki: I’m doing great, Chris. Tonight, I’m going to embarrass The Rock and send him running back to his Hollywood buddies.

Jericho: Undoubtedly you are going to kick his ass, good luck with that.

Siaki: Thanks, man.

Jericho: But there is one other thing (moves in close to Siaki’s face). Last week when The Rock was talking crap about me, I did NOT need you running out there to defend me. I fight my own battles and I don’t need some pipsqueak like you ruining the good name of Chris Jericho. Got that, junior?

Siaki: Yeah, yeah, no sweat, sorry, man.

Jericho: Good. Now do me a favor and kick The Rock’s ass… but stay the hell out of my way. (Jericho leaves, with Siaki looking irritated). (100%).

Commercial break.

Match 3: Christian Cage vs Shawn Daivari (Opening Round Tournament Match)

Christian takes control in the early going, but he is thrown off when he realizes that Edge is watching the match from the stage. Christian clearly is put off by the appearance of his brother, and Daivari takes control for several minutes. Daivari plants Christian on the mat, and pulls out his “magic carpet” to revive his signature top rope move, but Christian bolts up and hits a huge belly to belly suplex on Daivari. Christian covers Daivari for the win at 7:12!

Winner: Christian Cage, *1/2 (70/72/68).

After the match, Edge jumps into the ring and plants Christian with a spear!

Rowe: What the hell? Why did Edge just spear his brother!?

Plague: I don’t know and I don’t care. That was freaking sweet!

Commercial break.

Match 4: Kane vs Shark Boy vs Sonjay Dutt

Shark Boy and Sonjay try to work as a unit, and the first several minutes of this match is basically a handicap match against Kane. The two smaller stars are able to send Kane falling backwards over the top rope. While Kane gains his bearings, Sonjay and Shark Boy battle each other with some dazzling highflying moves. It isn’t to last though, as Kane angrily storms the ring and chokeslams the hell out of both men. Kane covers them both at the same time for the victory at 7:22. Meanwhile there is an obnoxious fan in the front row screaming his lungs out in celebration.

Winner: Kane, **1/4 (70/63/78)

Rowe: Kane continues to be a force to reckon with.

Plague: Stick around folks, our big main event of the evening is up next!

Final (and quick) commercial).

Match 5: The Rock vs Sonny Siaki

The Rock comes out to a huge ovation and catches Sonny Siaki off guard. Rock fires way with some lightning fast punches, and knocks Siaki silly. Siaki goes to ringside to recover and Rock pursues him, but Siaki whips Rock into the ring post. Rock is busted open! Siaki then pummels The Rock with some hard strikes to the open wound on The Rock’s forehead. Siaki goes for the Siakalypse, but The Rock reverses the move. Rock hits the Rock Bottom and pins Sonny Siaki at 9:12!

Winner: The Rock, **1/4 (78/80/75)

After the match, Chris Jericho runs in and attacks The Rock. Jericho puts The Rock into the Walls of Jericho, while Sonny Siaki fends off the referees who run in to try and help him. The Rock passes out from the pain, and Chris Jericho poses over his prey.

Rowe: That was despicable! I am ashamed to have Chris Jericho and Sonny Siaki on the payroll!

Plague: This is the greatest moment in all of wrestling history! The Rock tries to come back to wrestling and has been humbled by two men who are truly passionate about our great sport! Go back to Hollywood, Rock, we don’t want you!

Orton: I said get me a Diet Coke.
Anderson: Are you out of your mind Orton? I’m nobody’s bitch.
Orton: I think you should Arn for I am THE Legend Killer. And last I knew, you are hardly a legend in the first place. So go out back and get me a cold Diet Coke.
Anderson: You sonavabitch.
Road Agent Johnny Ace runs over to Anderson.
Ace: Arn! Arn! Let it go, let it go. Orton is going to be the future of this business. Just let it go.
Orton: Haha! And don’t for forget! I also want a whole-grain bagel with low-fat cream cheese! And don’t forget my multi-vitamin; you can’t have a body like this and not take care of.

Kashmere: You're so gonna play. You're just luck we both had singles matches tonight, otherwise you both would still be licking your wounds.
Scotty: Ew, you lick your own wounds buddy.
Acid: Johnny brings up the point we were saying earlier backstage. You two cheaped your ways one-on-one, but you could never beat us in a tag match.
Colt: That's a fact, huh? How about this: After the Fisticuff tourney ends and champions are decided, how about we try a little tag team match.
Kashmere: I think that's doable. We might be out for the Mid-Atlantic title, but that just means we're number one for the Tag Team titles. And if you're lucky, may be we'll be gracious enough for you guys to take a shot at our titles.
Colt: You have have the Tag Titles Backseat Men, because we're going to be Mid-Atlantic and Virginia State Title holders when that time comes.

Show starts with Mike Tenay and Dave Meltzer in the ring.....

Tenay - Ladies and Gentleman welcome to Ichiban TV here on the Superstation! We have a lot to get into but first I must read the written statement from the NWA Japan Competition Committee. “Dear NWA Japan fans. We here at NWA Japan give our best to make sure the fans of our great organization are on the same page with us, and we are on the same page as them. This past week, we had a vote on our hotline and our website for the fans to vote for this weeks main event and the results was unanimous. YOU the NWA Japan asked us to do a rematch of the Kenta Kobashi/Genichiro Tenryu match from our very first episode of Ichiban TV. We are happy to announce that no only is this match signed sealed and delivered tonight...........but it’ll be LAST MAN STANDING. We hope to see better sportsmanship on the part of Genichiro Tenryu and hopefully we do NOT have a problem after the match this week like we did during their first match up. Thank you”

Dave Meltzer - Well there you have it folks, you have our main event being a Last Man Standing match up between Kobashi/Tenryu, we have Tiger Mask IV taking on KENTA, also Marafuji is facing off in the jr heavyweight title tournament as well against Ikuda Hidaka. We also have a first time match up between Takao Omori vs. Akira Taue. This is going to be a great night of action.

Tenay - It sure is Dave. Fans at home......lets go backstage right now where Kenta Kobashi is standing by......

Kenta Kobashi is backstage.

Kobashi - Tenryu! You think what you did to me last week is just going to stand? You think I’m going to let that go? You’ve got another thing coming if you do. I am a world championship caliber athlete and I will not let ANYONE intimidate me. See you later tonight Tenryu......I WILL be the LAST MAN STANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Overall - 48

Tenay - WOW, Kobashi looks ready for tonight, but we have our first two participants here tonight in the ring with Tiger Mask IV facing off against KENTA in one of our two Junior Heavyweight title tournament matches tonight!

DM - You just said a mouthful there professor, but this should be a great match up between two great combatants.

Tenay - KENTA hits a missile dropkick on Tiger Mask. Flying knee to the face from KENTA. KENTA face jams Tiger Mask IV. Pinfall attempt 1....2....no! KENTA starting off with furious speed here. Tiger Mask JUST got the shoulder up

DM - What a flying neckbreaker from KENTA. Pinfall!

Tenay - One, Two.................NO! This one will continue. Tiger Mask reverses a KENTA hammerlock. Hard back suplex on KENTA. The tide has turned. Hurricanranna by TM. KENTA fighting out of the grapple...............SPINNING BULLDOG in the corner and Tiger Mast looks out of it.

DM - Tiger Mask IV can barely stand here.......I can already feel a sense of urgency on the part of TM.

Tenay - Here it comes - Busaiku Knee Kick. 1....2...3, it's finished. KENTA is a happy camper here as he moves on.

DM - KENTA really showed us tonight how important this title is to him.

Winner - KENTA (58/35/82)

A video is played, hyping the upcoming Akira Taue vs Takao Omori match.

Overall - 40%

Tenay - Folks we have another great contest for you with the legendary Akira Taue taking on Japanese superstar Takao Omori. Anything to add there Dave?

DM - Sure Iron Mike. Akira Taue has been a major player on the Japanese wrestling scene for years. He’s well remembered for his matches with then partner Kawada in the All Japan Pro Wrestling’s Real World Tag League Tournaments, he’s wrestled the best in the world and is a former AJPW Triple Crown Champion and Pro Wrestling NOAH GHC titleholder as well. I guarantee you that the competition committee is looking at this match for consideration for seeding in the NWA Japan Heavyweight title tournament. Omori on the other hand has held tag titles all over Japan and pretty much has mastered tag team wrestling. He’s no one to look past though as he’s younger and certainly faster than Taue here. This one’s gonna be interesting Iron Mike.

Tenay - Well both combatants are in the ring...........lets get this one going!

DM - Nice slam there by Taue on Omori to start this one.

Tenay - Back drop there by Omori out of the Taue piledriver attempt. Taue is taking some punishing forearms here. WOW.

DM - Those are brutal to say the least Iron Mike.

Tenay - They sure are. A normal man would have been out of it by now. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! The referee was accidentally caught with one of those elbows to the face by Taue!

DM - Omori looking to get back on the offensive.....

Tenay - Omori runs Taue inside out with a clothesline. There’s no ref to count....he’s still out of it. Taue reverses the hammerlock there by Omori, RUDE AWAKENING style neckbreaker!!!!!!!

DM - Taue hits a beautiful bulldog off the ropes here.......one......two.......he got the shoulder up!

Tenay - Omori walks into a side choke slam. Hooks the leg : 1....2....shoulder up! That was extremely close there. Omori counters an arm wringer with an elbow to the side of the head. Big clothesline from Omori. Cover! 1....2....kick out at the last second! Omori looks shocked. Taue blocks a suplex attempt. Takao Omori is in trouble. Here it comes Dynamic Bomb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DM- 1....2...3.......it’s over!!!!!

Tenay - Akira Taue extends his hand to Omori...and it is accepted! They shake! What a great sign of sportsmanship here Dave.

DM - It sure is refreshing to see that after the way that Tenryu is acting around here lately.

NWA Midwest Saturday Night 5-13-06

Joey Styles: Hello everyone and welcome to NWA Midwest's Saturday Night, LIVE from
the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in DAYTON, OHIO!
I'm Joey Styles, here with Jimmy Bauer, and we've got quite the lineup tonight, including TWO matches from
the NWA Midwestern Championship Tournament. But first, we're going to start out with
some X-Division action!!

MATCH # 1: Onyx vs Delirious vs. Jerry Lynn

Onyx makes his way to the ring.

Joey Styles: From the projects of Atlanta comes Onyx with a chip on his shoulder. The
man is looking to make his mark here in the Midwest, and he looks to do it tonight!

Jimmy Bauer: Joey, this kid is hard as nails. You should see his low-rider.

Joey Styles: That's ok, Jimmy. I'm married.

Jerry Lynn makes his way to the ring

Joey Styles: Here comes the Minnesota wrestling machine and an icon of American
Jr. Heavyweight wrestling, Jerry Lynn. He's taken wrestlers like Rob Van Dam and
Sean Waltman to their limit.

Jimmy Bauer: Joey, Joey, Joey. That was YEARS ago. This guy is WAY past his prime,
and all he's good for now is fodder for up and comers like Onyx.

Delirious makes his way to the ring, and promptly crawls underneath it.

Joey Styles: It looks like someone needs to remind Delirious that matches happen
IN the ring, not under it.

Jimmy Bauer: That's ok, Joey. We're going to watch some actual wrestling tonight
instead of Delirious' goofy antics.

Styles: He does hail from the edge of sanity.

The bell rings and Jerry Lynn looks around for Delirious. Onyx takes advantage and
kicks Lynn in the back of the knee. Once Lynn goes down Onyx gets aggressive and
starts to work on Lynn's shoulder.

Bauer: Look at that Joey, the kids brilliant. He's working on Lynn's surgically repaired
shoulder.

Styles: Trust me, there's more to Jerry Lynn than that arm...

And, as if on cue, Jerry Lynn pulls an acrobatic series of moves that releases him
from Onyx's grip and gives him a moment to catch his breath. Delirious sticks his head out
from underneath the ring, and pulls it back in.

Styles: What is Delirious doing?

Bauer: Hopefully, not a "Hennig."

Styles: A what?

Bauer: You don't want to know.

Delirious' head pokes out from the apron at the side of the ring with the entranceway.
Delirious hops up and waves his arms as he runs up the entranceway.

Delirious: BAA BA BAAAAAAAA BABABA

Styles: Delirious is running the wrong way!!

The fans yell at Delirious and wave the arms towards the ring. Delirious stops and stares
at them. He walks up to one of the fans and tries to see if the kid is swatting a fly.
The kid then points him to the ring. And Delirious looks at the kid.

Delirious: BA BA BABABABABA?

Kid: BABA BAAAA BA BABA!

Delirious turns and runs towards the ring screaming the whole way. He slides into the
ring and starts running off the ropes before Onyx nails him with a spinning heel kick.
The crowd boos.

Styles: There are definitely Delirious fans in this Dayton, OH!

Bauer: Oh, they're delirious alright.

Onyx and Delirious go back and forth a bit. Delirious tries for a cross body, but
Onyx steps out of the way. Onyx gets cocky, and Jerry Lynn comes out of nowhere
with a missile dropkick that knocks Onyx clear out of the ring. Delirious stumbles up
and his woosiness allows Jerry Lynn to hit the cradle piledriver.

WINNER: Jerry Lynn 61/44/79

After the match, Jerry Lynn holds Delirious' hand in the air. Delirious stumbles
out of the ring and back up the walkway. But before he can get behind the curtain,
a steel chair flies down and hits him clear on the noggin.

Styles: Who the hell would do such a thing?

Homicide emerges from behind the curtain

Styles: Oh my god, It's Homicide!

Homicide walks down to the ring where Jerry Lynn has his back to him as he leans against
the ropes. Onyx slides into the ring and attacks Homicide.

Styles: I can't believe my eyes!!! Onyx is saving Jerry Lynn.

Bauer: This is dispicable!

Onyx throws Homicide out of the ring, and Jerry Lynn offers a handshake. Onyx accepts.

Styles: Mutual respect from these two competitors here in NWA Midwest.

BACKSTAGE Josh Matthews is backstage with Batista

Josh Matthews: I am standing here with the man who last week bested Raven in the
NWA Championship Tournament, Batista. I guess an interesting question to ask would be:
Who would you rather face next week, Abyss or Terry Funk?
Batista: You know, that's an interesting question Josh. I mean, you've got
Terry Funk. The "Hardcore Legend." He's a bit past his prime, and that would play
right into my hand. But I learned under the wing of Ric Flair, which taught me that
age isn't always as much of a factor as you'd like it to be.
And you've got Abyss. "The Monster." He's an agile big man, he's a great brawler. Honestly,
I've got my hands full with both of them, but with Abyss you get what you see.
You never know what Funk might have up his sleeves.
So I guess I'd say Abyss. 83

MATCH #2: NWA Midwest Championship Tournament Abyss vs. Terry Funk

Styles: This next match promises to be an exciting bout. The Hardcore Legend
taking on THE MONSTER....

Bauer: Not to mention, Joey, this match is part of the NWA Midwestern Championship
Tournament.

Styles: I was gonna say that.

Bauer: And the winner takes on the winner of last weeks match, the man we
just heard from, Batista.

Styles: I was gonna say that too, you..

Bauer: HERE WE GO!

Abyss charges at Funk. Funk, being older and wiser, dodges out of the way and delivers
some painful left hooks into Abyss' jaw.

Styles: Funk's experience is paying off early in this matchup...

Funk leads Abyss a bit in the match, and even gets him into a reverse chinlock.
Abyss, though, powers out of it and runs Funk back into the turnbuckles.

loudspeakers: MIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSTTTTTTTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRR!!!!!!

KEEEEENNNNNNNEEEEEDDDDDDYYYYYY!

.....
.....
.....

KENNEDY!

Styles: What the hell?

Ken Kennedy makes his way down the walkway wearing a suit. Funk is obviously peeved, and Abyss
takes advantage and starts pummeling Funk. Kennedy walks over to the announce table.

Kennedy: Hello Joey Styles. Hello Jimmy Bauer.

Styles: Ken Kennedy, what the hell are you doing here?

Kennedy: Well, Joey. I thought I'd come and provide a wrestler's eye view on this matchup.

Styles: Did you have to come in the middle of the match?

Kennedy: That's called an entrance Joey. It's why I'm a wrestler, and you're
just a measly announcer. I have what is called "presence."

Styles: You have a presence all right.... Let's get back to the match.

Abyss throws Funk into the corner. He prepares to charge into Funk, who basically falls out of the ring.

Kennedy: Tell me something Joey... How is it that a washed up garbage wrestling
geezer like Terry Funk gets into this tournament when a rising young star like
myself is left out? Do you have an answer?

Styles: This is TERRY FUNK. He's a Legend in this business, an icon.
If we didn't let him in...

Kennedy: Then what, Joey? It's not like the guy has any fans left. They've
all died from old age already.

Abyss slings Terry Funk into the guardrails. The ref is yelling for Abyss to get it back
into the ring. Abyss grabs Funk, who elbows Abyss in the ribs, and then throws Abyss head into the ringpost.
Abyss stumbles back and Funk throws Abyss' head into the steps. Funk grabs Abyss,
but Abyss punches Funk to buy some time. Funk turns around and eats boot. He then
falls towards the announce position.

Styles: HERE HE COMES!!!!

Funk falls forward. Kennedy stands up and throws Funk face first into his open chair.

Kennedy: Have a seat, old timer.

Abyss grabs Funk and throws him into the apron. He then rolls Funk into the ring. Kennedy
grabs Joey's chair and switches it with his own.

Kennedy: There Joey, don't say I never got you anything.

Styles: This chair's covered with Funk's sweat!

Kennedy: Put it on e-bay. Some fat kid named Louis will buy it. I promise.

Funk comes off the ropes to get momentum to attack Abyss, but Abyss catches him and..

Styles: BLACK HOLE SLAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WINNER:Abyss 68/69/68

Kennedy: Poor old man. Can't even realize it's past his time. He's probably lost
too many brain cells from chairs and exploding barbed wire. I don't even think
YOU are dumb enough to try that, Styles.

Styles: I dont' know whether to thank you or kick you in the groin.

PRE TAPED INTERVIEW
The following is brought to you by CM Punk.....
CM Punk: :: CM Punk holds up a ruler ::
A ruler. One foot. 12 inches.
When most people use a ruler, they use the numbers written on the ruler.
They measure quantity. The more the better, whether it be inches, pounds, or dollars.
Not me. I lay the ruler down, and I run a pencil along the edge. It draws a straight
line. The straight line which I have chosen to walk. The straight line which leads
me to a poison free life.
I am CM Punk, and I am better than you. 81

MATCH #3: Chad Collyer vs. Bobby Roode

Collyer and Roode stare at each other from across the ring. Collyer makes the first
move by diving across the ring and taking Roode's feet from underneath him. Collyer is
in control most of the match, putting Roode in various submission holds. He's working
Roode's back a lot.

Styles: Dean Malenko, eat your heart out!

As if on cue, Collyer rolls Roode over and locks on the Texas Cloverleaf.

Styles: Wow, is that creepy...

Bauer: Should I call you Carnac?

Styles: Does getting that reference make me old?

Bobby Roode finally caves and taps to the Cloverleaf

WINNER: Chad Collyer 62/51/74

Styles: That was a dominating performance.

Collyer offers his hand to Roode. The crowd applauds.

Styles: A show of respect by Chad Collyer.

Roode accepts the handshake...

Styles: And Roode returns...

Roode pulls Collyer and delivers the Northern Lariat

Bauer: Now THAT is what I paid to see!

Styles: Blatant disrespect from Bobby Roode. And Jimmy, you didn't pay!

Bauer: Wait, I didn't have to pay?

MATCH #4: Blackout vs. The Naturals

The bell rings once we're back on the air and Chase Stevens is in the ring with
Murder-One. Murder-One takes over and after a sequence of moves, Chase is the face
in peril. Murder-One tags Kory Chavis, and Stevens almost gets away. After some
work on Stevens' arm, Chavis goes to tag Murder-One and Stevens delivers an enziguiri to
Chavis, and follows with a dropkick to Murder-One before diving across the ring to tag
Andy Douglas. Douglas cleans house and finishes off Chavis with a DVD.

WINNERS: The Naturals 64/45/83

BACKSTAGE: Josh Matthews is standing backstage with William Regal
Josh Matthews: William Regal, last week you defeated Monty Brown in the first round
of the NWA Championship Tournament. I want to ask you one question: Why is the tournament
worth winning?

William Regal: What's that? Why is the tournament worth winning? Can you not see that?
Is your head stuck in the loo? Why don't you just bugger off and find a lorry to
lay yourself in front of.

Why is this championship important? Well, I don't know if anyone has noticed, but I'm not
a spring chicken anymore. And I'm tired of playing the cackhanded gent. I want people
to know that I'm not all giggles. I'm quite the scrotty grappler. And I'll prove it next week. 82

MATCH #5: NWA Midwest Championship Tournament Chris Benoit vs. Sabu

Styles: These two have met several times before, and it's NEVER been pretty.

Benoit starts with some VICIOUS chops. Sabu returns fire.

Styles: Ladies and gentlemen, chops are now served!

The two assault each other. Benoit is aggressive, Sabu is more aggressive. Benoit,
though, has strategy. He's keeping Sabu grounded. Every time Sabu tries to
go for a high impact move, Benoit counters with a submission hold or a impact move that
slows down Sabu.

Bauer: You know, I was expecting more from Sabu.

Styles: I don't think it's Sabu, Benoit is limiting him.

Sabu finally gets an upper hand against Benoit and throws Benoit outside the ring.
Sabu grabs a chair and sets it up. He runs off the ropes, jumps off the chair,
jumps off the rope, and lands ON THE GUARDRAIL.

Styles: OH MY GOD.

Benoit grabs Sabu and rolls him into the ring.

Styles: I think Sabu just eliminated himself. He's going to need some medical
attention.

Benoit goes for the cover. 1..... 2...... 2 3/4!

Bauer: Joey, did Sabu just kick out?

Styles: I don't know, I can't watch.

Sabu kicks Benoit in the head. Benoit backs into the corner. Sabu goes for an Air Sabu.
Benoit steps out of the way. Sabu falls. Benoit slaps on the Crossface.

Styles: I can't believe Sabu could do that!

Sabu rolls over and uses his legs to grab the ropes.

Styles: He got the ropes!!!! Sabu is still fighting.

Benoit rolls over and locks Sabu into a crucifix. The ref counts. 1-2-3

WINNER: Chris Benoit 85/78/93

Benoit stands up. The crowd gives the two a standing ovation. Sabu stands, and then
rolls out of the ring.

Bauer: See you next week!
