So this is basically for me and Geist. Anyone else confident enough in their masculinity (or Leena) can join in.

So, Pickler is gone, which is a good choice.

Katharine looked hot this week.

Paris sucks.

Chris was great this week.

Taylor had his first real crappy week.

Elliot seems to be picking up steam, despite complete lack of charisma.

I think that gets us caught up. How do you think it'll play out from here?

jamiegeist - April 27, 2006 08:39 PM (GMT)
Katharine just IS hot, and nice panty shot too.

I can't stand the tone of Paris' voice. It just great on me. It just sounds so fuckin ugly. Don't know how else to say it.

Chris I love. I think he is unique, but would fit wonderfully with the current radio.

Taylor I absolutely love as well. He looked so distracted and confused this week, but then when I listened to the mp3, it was pretty wonderful.

On to Elliot. I wasn't the biggest Elliott fan at first, but he has grown on me like no other, and I am seriously going to be sad when he leaves. He seems like the nicest dude in the world, and has great passion and just great vocals. I'm actually pulling for him. I WANT him to win.

I think Chris will though, and desveredly so.

Princess Leena - April 27, 2006 09:07 PM (GMT)
I want to have neverending sex with Katharine McPhee.

So, she can't win. Finishing 3rd, behind Taylor and Chris, would be just dandy.

Kat needs to do porn, soon. Or, at the least, some Skinemax movies. I'm hopeful that AI ruins her movie career, so she is reduced to such things.

It's still Taylor's to lose. The Soul Patrol is too big, and will lead him to victory. But, he's gotta bring back the freakiness.

Chris bores me. But, I admit he's a good performer.

Elliott has a better voice, but he doesn't have a gimmick like everyone else, so he's gone next week. Which will blow.

Paris is just there. She's got a great voice, but she never wows you. She's never had a bleh performance... but, she's never sang anything I'd want to listen to again. I still think being the only black, and the "WOW she's only 17, and sounds like it when she doesn't sing" factors keep around another week.

I hated DA PICKLES. A lot. Although, I do admire her putting up such a strong act that got her to the Last 6 of this competition. Infact, I think there's a good chance AI rigged the voting... she was Top 3 every week prior.

jamiegeist - April 27, 2006 09:28 PM (GMT)
I really don't find Paris voice to be all that great. Like I said, it really hurts me sometimes.

And to Taylor's freakiness.....reportedly he was gonna sing 3 Dog Night's "Try a Little Tenderness" which if you've ever seen the movie 'Duets" you know brings the funky and would fit perfect for Taylor's voice.

Supposedly Bocceli and the producer dude vetoed it, saying it just didn't work, and having him go to his backup choice, Just Once.

Of course, this is all internet poo I'm talking about, but whatever.

And yeah....I wanna touch Kat in the naughty spot, but still watch that hot ass face. Cause she is hella fine.

Once again dude, check my sig. That's an Otis Redding song. (Actually, it was written by Harry Woods, but Otis made it famous.) 3 Dog Night's cover is not even a blip on the radar. It's like saying you're gonna sing "I love rock and Roll" by Britney Spears.

I'm appalled.

I'm also disappointed in both of your disrespect for Katharine....OK, screw that. I'd pay a week's salary to see those things.

jamiegeist - April 28, 2006 08:42 PM (GMT)
Goddam, you're really gonna kick my ass, aren't you.

My bad on the Otis, AGAIN.

The Last Free Voice - May 1, 2006 06:10 PM (GMT)
I've only sporadically watched when my mom has on it on the TV, but I really liked some of the songs I've seen Chris do. His Cash cover was really good.

whitemilesdavis - May 1, 2006 06:24 PM (GMT)
Which was actually a cover of Live coverring Cash.

Hey, this week the top 5 get to sing two songs, one from the year they were born, and one from the current top ten. Any predictions?

The Last Free Voice - May 1, 2006 06:27 PM (GMT)
What's the current top ten? I dispise Clearchannel, so I don't keep up on it.

whitemilesdavis - May 1, 2006 06:29 PM (GMT)
Umm, I don't know. I'll have to check.

OK, apparently it is any song off any of the Billboard top ten charts which inludes Rock, Pop, Adult Contemporary...etc.

jamiegeist - May 1, 2006 11:11 PM (GMT)
Hmmm, let me give it a shot here. This is kind of a hard week to do predictions, with some pretty harsh criteria:

Birth Year

Elliot - 1978 - "Wonderful Tonight", Eric Clapton. Would be sweet, and would fit well.

Chris - 1979 - "Heartache Tonight", Eagles. He could really rock this.

Taylor - 1976 - "Hard Luck Woman", KISS. Total personal pick, as I love this song and would like Taylor's voice in it.

Kat - 1984 - "Holding Out for a Hero", Bonnie Raitt. I know, kind of bold an out there, but nothing else spoke to me.

Paris - 1988 - "The LocoMotion", Kylie Minogue. Okay, didn't try hard on this one, cause Paris needs to hit the bricks anyway. This would be better than her boring me to death AND making my ears bleed.

Top Ten Stuff

Woah, checking out a list year, and music does in fact STILL suck ass today.

Elliot - "Save the last Dance for Me", Michael Buble. Yeah. That'll do.

Chris - "I Dare You", Shinedown. Yeah, so I still like it from Mania. Great little pop-rock song though.

Taylor - NO F'n clue. I seriously can't find anything even remotely doable for him.

Kat - "If I Aint Got You", Alicia Keys. She would rule on this. Not sure it is on the charts or whatever, cause I gave up on my list long ago.

Paris - "SOS", Rihanna. Again, I don't care about her, but this would entertaining and I like the song at least. My fave performance of her was Beyonce's Work it Out, so why not tackle this.

jamiegeist - May 3, 2006 05:37 AM (GMT)
Dammit! Wild Cherry was my pick for Taylor before I settled on KISS. Would have hit 2 of them, which is 2 more than I've ever hit.

My rankings for tonight:

Taylor
Chris
Elliot
Katharine
Paris

Elliott:

On Broadway: Don't love this song choice, as I just don't like the song. He did some nice things to it though, and changed it up nicely. I was actually digging it by the end.

Home: Don't know this song, but he sounded very tender, which I'm not usually used to. I really enjoyed this performance. Was a bit bored at first, but just really liked it by the end.

Paris:

Kiss: Weak. That is the only way I can describe this. And it isn't Paris-hate. I'd say it if Kat did it too. This song is impressive and badass BECAUSE Prince, a man, is doing it in falsetto. It is very unchallenging and unimpressive when done by a female. Just doesn't work. And the backups were horrible in this one.

Be Without You: Paris goes from one of my favorite songs, to one of the songs that I immediately kill the radio dial whenever it comes on. I hate this song. Her rendition was actually fine, and had a few nice moments. When she gets above her meaty upper range, I like her tone. When she is locked in that range though, I just hate it.

Chris:

Renegade: Great open with the kind of cold drum-only intro. Once this song kicked in the guitar riff, just fuckin awesome. This was one of the top performances of the season, and just fit him so well. Loved his voice in it. Could definitely have a hit with it today (sorry, not trying to sound like Randy). Loved his little touch of falsetto, finally.

I Dare You: Major markout from me when this one was announced. I love this song, and LOVED his voice in it. Yes, he overblew and lost it at the end. Its called a fuckin rock song. If you watch his rehearsal clip from the closing montage he actually nails it with no strain. Like he said, he probably sang it 5 fuckin times today, full voice. Not to mention he is belting a fuckin B, so I'll never bitch, cause I can't get close to it. Quick note: recently watched shinedown doing this song live, and the guy didn't even attempt to go up top. Sang the whole chorus in kind of a third-down melody that didn't sound near as good. Points for balls for Chris, definitely. He pushed it to the limits, and I respect the shit out of him for it.

Katharine:

Against All Odds: Again, a nice markout from me.....until she started singing. I was just trying to get one of my girlfriends to sing this song at karaoke the other night...she declined, and I think I see well. Another man's song that sung in woman's voice just doesn't sound as good, plus she just didn't seem all that into it. I know she didn't wanna overblow and sound shitty, but she kind of sounded apathetic instead, and was very flat in spots. ESPECIALLY the key change. Not good. This was definitely her worst of the year. And she has got to maintain her vowels if she is gonna try to smile through the note. That shit kills me.

Black Horse and the Cherry Tree: Maybe I live under a rock or something, but I have NEVER even heard of this song. It was badass though. She should do more stuff like this that is stripped down to nothing. I'd like to see HER stripped down to nothing. Very hot bouncing around stage on her knees. All talk of me wanting to bone her aside, this was a very good performance and her vocals were actually really great. Saved her night, for sure. Simon's comment afterwards: "Taylor laying on his back and you on your knees" was just awesome.

Taylor:

Play That Funky Music: I just knew this had to be his song (even if my picks don't reflect it). This was too perfect, and I honestly thought he wouldn't do it cause he knew Simon would rip his ass. But fuck Simon, this guy can fuckin rock. I don't care if it reeks of wedding or karaoke, this motherfucker can blow, and this was a great song choice and GREAT performance from him. He isn't afraid to just go for it, and thats because of his passion and love, and I just feel that shit. Finishing a song on your back is badass too.

Something: Yes, a bit of a copout. But if they're gonna have shitty themes like "current turds on the charts" I would probably cheat it and find something like this as well. This was a marvelous performance also, and he definitely did the best with song choice and balance between the two. As much as I love his performances, I also just love the raw awesome quality of his voice. He just got me back on the Taylor bandwagon.

Who should leave: Paris should based on her recent string of just basically not impressing. She hasn't been Pickler-horrible or anything, but just not impressive.
Who will leave: Elliott, probably. I'm a huge fan, but he was very forgettable tonight. Paris won't win, but I don't think Elliott will now either.

whitemilesdavis - May 3, 2006 12:29 PM (GMT)
My rankings for the night:

Taylor
Elliot
Chris
Katherine
Paris

This was actually a very good night with 3 of the singers pulling out at least one awesome performance.

Elliot: "On Broadway" was fine. Basic Elliot performance in that the vocals are good but not very memorable. "Home" was great though. I don't know that song at all, but he did it well.

Paris: Same old crap for me. "Kiss" was her usual decent vocal with annoying performance. The Mary J. song she really didn't get at all. The judges didn't poitn it out, but artist like Mary J. Blige are about 90% feeling and 10% voice. Paris didn't get that, and the song fell flat.

Chris: "Renegade" was great. That's pretty much all that needs to be said. On "I Dare You", his voice got a little shaky, but the feel was perfect. My voice goes out worse than that every week, and noone seems to mind.

Katharine: "Against All Odds" sucked. While that is a song that everybody likes, it is just no good for a talent competition. I can't really say why, but every time I've heard it done, it sucks. The second song she did was fantastic. Now, the knee thing made me uncomfortable. I kept expecting her to stand up, but she looked amazing and sounded perfect.

Taylor: It takes coconuts to sing "Play that Funky Music White Boy" on AI, and Taylor did it well. "Something" was probably my favorite vocal of the season by anyone.

Bottom two are obviously Elliot and Paris. I say Paris goes.

jamiegeist - May 4, 2006 04:15 AM (GMT)
Yes yes yes~!

Princess Leena - May 4, 2006 04:28 AM (GMT)
No surprise with Paris leaving.

I'll sweat it out again next week with Kat.

She needs to make final 2. And lose there.

eStragand - May 4, 2006 04:40 AM (GMT)
Watched a little bit of this at my buddy's place tonight. Kat is definitely bangable, but she has some massive shoulders. Did she play basketball or something?

Princess Leena - May 4, 2006 04:45 AM (GMT)
Kat could stand to lose like 10 pounds.

But, we love her the way she is.

whitemilesdavis - May 4, 2006 12:10 PM (GMT)
No, she should never lose an ounce. I'm tired of the ultra skinny girls.

jamiegeist - May 4, 2006 03:47 PM (GMT)
Definitely not. She already lost some weight from the early auditions till now. Sure, she is still hot, but I don't want to see her any tinier. She is just f'n hot.

whitemilesdavis - May 11, 2006 01:19 PM (GMT)
Well, that was unbelievable. Yeah, Chris being gone means the final 3 suck.

The Last Free Voice - May 16, 2006 05:25 PM (GMT)
I bet it was rigged so Idol could reap the rewards of his big contract with Fuel. I'm pretty sure they control the top eight or so's contracts regardless of if they win.

eStragand - May 16, 2006 05:50 PM (GMT)
Awesome. Fourth prize is a gig with Fuel. First, second and third prize DON'T get a gig with Fuel. Now that's something to compete for!

Scrooge McSuck - May 18, 2006 12:55 AM (GMT)
American Idol SUCKS!

<---Hater.

(walks out avoiding the ass-whooping I'll catch)

whitemilesdavis - May 24, 2006 01:21 AM (GMT)
Well, it appears Taylor mopped the floor with McPhee tonight. Now to find out if it is rigged tomorrow night.

jamiegeist - May 24, 2006 03:31 AM (GMT)
Hicks 3:16 says I just pwned your ass.

Seriously, Katharine didn't even bring the good tonight.

whitemilesdavis - May 24, 2006 11:54 AM (GMT)
Seriously. And by the way judges, when has Over The Rainbow ever been a hip song? The late 40's, maybe? That crap was not good and those two Idol singles were painful.

jamiegeist - May 24, 2006 03:48 PM (GMT)
They were predictably painful though. They winning song is always a huge peice of shit. At least Taylor did something impressive in it, vocally, regardless of the song. Kat just stood there and kind of half sang it. It was a "kelly clarkson" super ballad, and once again, Kat doesn't have the chops for that kind of shit.

whitemilesdavis - May 24, 2006 04:50 PM (GMT)
Plus, she went way out of key. Nasty, just nasty.

jamiegeist - May 25, 2006 04:43 AM (GMT)
Well good, Taylor won. Its been a while since I was satisfied with the outcome of Idol.

Highlight of the show was definitey Chris performing with Live. And also Prince. That was the shiiiiit.
