Title: Happy Comic Marriages

Mad Dog - April 25, 2006 06:49 PM (GMT)
I was trying to figure out who's been married in comics and stuck together.

The Richards of course have stayed strong for over 40 years.
Peter and MJ have been together awhile.

Not counted:

Clark and Lois due to it not being that long yet.
Wasp and Giant-Man due to the beating and various issues over the years.
Flash and Linda not long enough yet.

Mostly oldsters I can think of, and most of these aren't appearing on a monthly basis:

-Kent and Inza Nelson (Dr. Fate)

-Jay and Joan Garrick (Flash)

-Johnny Quick and Liberty Belle (All Star Squadron)

-Golden Age Batman and Catwoman (both killed off in early 80's)

-It's only been since 1993, but do Cyclops and Jean Grey count? Heck, are they still married?

Nope, Scott cheated on her with Emma Frost.

Did he cheat? I thought she died and he and Emma got married

To be a total smartass-- Ma and Pa Kent have been married since Action #1 :) Yeah, yeah, smartguy, so Pa died for a bit in the 70's.

Are Madusa and Black Bolt still married? I think they've been pretty consistent. I didn't follow the late 90's Inhumans mini-series, though.

Here's a weird one-- are any supervillains married? Usually they turn to crime cuz' their wife croaked (I'd count Mr. Freeze's revised origin in this group).

Ma and Pa Kent do count and I believe Black Bolt and Madusa are still married.

I would just like to say that I really don't like Clark Kent & Lois Lane being married.

Mad Dog - April 26, 2006 03:03 AM (GMT)
Why?

I don't know, I think part of it is that Superman is way too busy a person. I've always had a problem with him having a secret identity because he doesn't actually have the ability to perform normal human things because he's always out saving the world.

I mean, he can write really fast, but can he interview people that fast? No. He'd have to leave in the middle of an interview to save someone. So his newspaper articles wouldn't be that good. I just always had a hard time reconciling Clark Kent's life with Superman's.
