Title: April 25: Comic Trivia
eStragand - April 25, 2006 04:01 PM (GMT)
Week THREE and it's back to Marvel.
For those holding their breath: please exhale, as it's Highly Unlikely that I'll ever do a NON-Marvel or DC round of trivia.
1-- Which Marvel superhero appeared in an early issue of the Transformers comic series?
2-- After a few months as the Black Panther, Kasper Kole used a different name for his masked persona. What was it?
3-- Which hero was called in to temporarily lead the replacement Thunderbolts, aka the Redeemers?
4-- When they were shacking up, which city did Daredevil and the Black Widow move to?
5-- What was the name of Angel's "mutant haven" in Age of Apocalypse?
6-- Who was the only Avengers recruit who was written into their charter as a founding member?
7-- Before the Helicarrier, SHIELD had a storefront facade above their New York base. What type of business was the facade?
8-- Name the cool, orange, shape-shifting member of the Micronauts.
9-- How did Obadiah Stane die?
10-- Name the pro wrestler Spider-Man fought and embarassed in his first public appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15 (and in subsequent re-tellings of the story). Note: it's NOT Bonesaw McGraw!

Whoa... never knew THAT! The hyphen-less Spidey! I know Tranformers fans like to spin it and say "oh, that was the Spidey of the Transformers universe, not the Marvel Universe", and I always called bullshit on that. TF villains Circuit Breaker appeared in Secret Wars II... but they could easily spin that and say the uber-powerful Beyonder was temporarily accessing the TF universe.
Back to the trivia scorecard-- so far, every answer's been correct. Which leaves us with:
2-- After a few months as the Black Panther, Kasper Kole used a different name for his masked persona. What was it?
5-- What was the name of Angel's "mutant haven" in Age of Apocalypse?
7-- Before the Helicarrier, SHIELD had a storefront facade above their New York base. What type of business was the facade?
8-- Name the cool, orange, shape-shifting member of the Micronauts.

I had always figured that the Transformers were mostly in the midwest and therefore weren't in an area largely populated by super heroes. Though that reasoning does fall apart once they have the global battle with Starscream and there are Transformer corpses all over the world.

That's an interesting point. Where were the fantastic four? Where were the Avengers? Giant Robots are blasting each other to pieces in the middle of the biggest cities, and not ONE superhero shows his face.
And yeah, I forget the hyphen. SUE ME

Naw, I was serious....did Spidey actually appear in "Transformers" without the hyphen, as "Spiderman"?! I know that the hyphenated logo was on the cover.

Spider-Man confesses

Damn, I only knew one answer, and Mad Dog already said it (#3). I almost got #4 too, but I thought San Diego. :P
Really WILD guesses for unanswered Q's:
#5 Transportalant
#7 Newspaper Company
#8 Hulk Hogan
eStragand - April 26, 2006 03:53 PM (GMT)
#5- "Transportalant" is so Wrongo Bongo, but it's hilarious.
#7- Wrong bongo.
#8- HA! But no. Hint: this Micros member was a Marvel-only creation. He wasnt based on any Micronaut toys. Although he had cool boots like Acroyear's. I'm not sure why he wasn't brought back when the Micronauts returned about 10 years ago. Originally a heel, he did a face turn when he joined the team.

Hiya Heroes! Here's the stupendous scorecard of superficial superhero smarts:
2-- After a few months as the Black Panther, Kasper Kole used a different name for his masked persona. What was it?
THE WHITE TIGER
5-- What was the name of Angel's "mutant haven" in Age of Apocalypse?
HEAVEN. If you hung out there, he'd take take you to Avalon (The Savage Land)
7-- Before the Helicarrier, SHIELD had a storefront facade above their New York base. What type of business was the facade?
A BARBER SHOP. You'd sit in the barber's chair and be dropped down into SHIELD HQ. It was destroyed in an issue of "Captain America", circa 1979
8-- Name the cool, orange, shape-shifting member of the Micronauts.
HUNTARR
Face front true belivers! We'll be back in two weeks for More Marvelicious Mirth and Merryment! Excelsior!
