It's about 16 MB.
I was expecting something a little heavier but this is still awesome. Lyrics really make up for it. Thoughts?
eStragand - April 15, 2006 07:20 PM (GMT)
I'd say it's heavy. But "heavy" for TOOL isn't the way radio DJs would use the word-- i.e: it's not Slipknot or Metallica.
Sounds like a mix of "Schism" and "The Grudge". Really picks up in the middle. When I first heard the advance tracks of "Schism" and "Stinkfist", at first listen I wasn't too thrilled. But after a few more listens, I was hooked on each song. My "thrillment" level is a bit higher after hearing this tune, though.

Yeah, Tool songs really need multiple listens to really appreciate. As strange as it seems to imagine now, I wasn't too high on much of Lateralus at first, but over the years it has become my favorite Tool album.

I half-caught it over the radio yesterday. I thought it sounded pretty good. I couldn't make out much of the lyrics over the chatter in the car, though.

LYRICS
| QUOTE |
[1:07]
Eye on the TV Cuz' tragedy thrills me Whatever flavor, it happens to be Like about a husband Drowned by the ocean Shunned by his own son He used a poison
[1:27]
--- Kiss your goodbye It's my kind of story It's no fun 'til someone dies.
[1:50]
Don't look at me like I am a monster Frown out your one face But with the other Stare like a junkie Into the TV Stare like a zombie Whi-le the mother
[2:10]
Who holds her child Watches him die Hands to the sky, crying Why, oh why
[2:21]
Cuz' I need to watch things die, from a distance Vicariously I Live while the whole world dies You all need it too, don't lie
[2:47]
Why can't we just admit it [x2]
[2:52]
We won't get --- until the blood is flowing --- --- We won't get --- until the blood is flowing
[3:08]
I need to watch things die From a good safe distance Vicariously I Live while the whole world dies You all feel the same so Why can't we just admit it.
[3:58]
Blood like rain come down Drop and grave and down
[4:09]
Come Vampire I --- ... --- To the Death rattle
[4:29]
La la la la la la la lie [x4]
[5:42]
--- your desire to belive in Angels in the hearts of men
[5:52]
Pull your head out of --- every reason given, listen Shouldn't have to say it all again
[6:02]
The universe is hostile, so impersonal Devour to suffice our soul, it's always been
[6:22]
We all feed Our tragedy It's like blood to a vampire
[6:34]
Vicariously I Live while the whole world dies Much better you than I |

Wow. Those are awesome lyrics. I find myself liking Maynards lyrics much better than their music.

If it hasn't been done already... it'd be easy to spoof this song as "Bi-curious".
Scrooge could pen the lyrics.

I picked up the new album earlier today. I'm waiting to listen to it, right now I need to focus on studying :(
The Last Free Voice - May 2, 2006 11:26 PM (GMT)
Picked it up today as well. It's uploading onto my iPod now. The album booklet is fucking trippy.

Has anyone been able to make out the whispering right before the "angels in the hearts of men" part?
Real F'n Show - May 3, 2006 12:30 AM (GMT)
I'm focusing on the music the first time through, then I usually go back and try to decipher the lyrics the best I can. Rosetta Stoned was fantastic.

Ah, I tend to do the oposite. I really like how Tool use different effects in their songs. Stuff you don't quite hear every day. Like the little vocal effect in Jambi.
Real F'n Show - May 3, 2006 02:18 AM (GMT)
The vocals at the beginning of The Pot are weird.
The Last Free Voice - May 3, 2006 04:09 PM (GMT)
I love the ambient effects in 10,000 Days.
eStragand - May 3, 2006 04:47 PM (GMT)
Next thing, you'll be telling us you love the "motive effect". :)
Anyways, the fanatics are out there, posting and reporting on the live shows for US:

I meant the rain-type effects. I didn't quite know what to call them.
And after a couple of listens, 10,000 Days is my faveourite track on the record, and possibly by them. The "Now it's my time" part gives me chills. Great lyrics.
