Title: Smackdown Spoilers

Dark Match:

Gunner Scott over Simon Dean.

Velocity:

1.) Tatanka over Nunzio.
2.) Orlando Jordan over somebody.
3.) Vito over Chris Guy/Colt Cabana.
4.) Jamie Noble & Kid Kash over Funaki & Scotty 2 Hotty.

Smackdown:

1.) Brian Kendrick (w/Paul London) over Johnny Nitro (w/Joey Mercury, Melina).

2.) Paul Burchill over some big black guy that I did not know . William Regal was at ringside dressed as a buxom wench.

3.) Matt Hardy over Road Warrior Animal in a very quick and boring match. I think this was a King of the Ring match.

4.) JBL over Chris Benoit in a steel cage match. It was pretty decent nothing really special. I missed the finish because I was going to the bathroom. When I got back JBL was out of the cage and had won.

Dalip Singh has been renamed The Great Khali. He and Daivari cut a promo in the ring.

5.) Gymini (w/Simon Dean) over the Mexicools.

6.) Kurt Angle over Randy Orton. He made Orton tap out to the ankle lock. After the match, he held onto the anklelock for approximately forever, and broke Orton's ankle.

So then Orton hobbled to the back or whatever and Angle came back out. He said he accomplished one goal in breaking Orton's ankle, but he still wanted to accomplish his other goal - winning the title back. He demanded the triple threat cage match still take place. Teddy Long ruled that Mark Henry would take Orton's place. Mysterio pinned Angle in a quick 7 minute dark match that was not very good.

Kendrick/Nitro, Benoit/JBL, and Angle/Orton are all worth the effort of taping Smackdown, and despite jobbing, glad to see the Mexicools too.

And Great Khali is the worst name I've heard in a while.

SamoaRowe - April 12, 2006 02:05 PM (GMT)
Is "The Great Khali" worse than "Umaga?"

Scrooge McSuck - April 12, 2006 02:06 PM (GMT)
Thank you, I tried forgeting that guy was even around. Prick! :D

dynamite kido - April 12, 2006 02:24 PM (GMT)
Looks like another solid show.......

prof_plague - April 12, 2006 02:28 PM (GMT)
Spanky beat Nitro cleanly? Could this be the pushing of Kendrick and London? I mean, not just a temporary one.

OK, I'm not going to lie to myself anymore. :(

And Colt had another match? Did he sign a developmental deal?

TheGreatWhiteChoate - April 12, 2006 03:45 PM (GMT)
This Regal as a buxom wench stuff kills me.

And this does look solid. Specifically would like to see the Angle/ Orton match.

Gymini gets to be on Smackdown while Kash, Noble, and "Gunner Scott" aren't? Weak.

You know I'm pretty stoked that they seem to be doing a London/Spanky/MNM fued, but would it have killed them to just throw a Spanky/London vs. Kash/Noble #1 contenders match on a SD though?

Scrooge McSuck - April 12, 2006 04:13 PM (GMT)
We were lucky to see Kash/Noble at all a few weeks ago vs. the Mexicools. With current WWE, I don't complain when I have a good thing going: 3 potential good matches this week on Smackdown, compared to 5 matches on Raw that combined for about a DUD rating.

Spolier reporters rock. Now EVERYBODY in the entire frickin' world knows that this guy has a weak bladder and was in the bathroom.

Dude, you're preaching to the choir. I enjoy SD almost every week, yet I don't think that I've enjoyed RAW minus a show here and there all year.

When was the last time Raw was consistantly better than Smackdown? When Benoit was World Champion? I guess that wins by default even if it was a bad time, considering how fucked Smackdown was...

Main Eventers: Eddie Guerrero, JBL, and no one else.

Tag Champs Rikishi and S2H, then Rico & Charlie Haas, then the Dudleys for the zillionth time

Jacqueline and Chavo Sr. winning the CW Title

Spike F'N Dudley winning the same title and turning heel, giving us MORE Dudley Boy pushes.

Evil Commish Angle

Booker T summoning the power of Papa Shango

Paul Bearer's NEAR-death

Rene Dupree singles push

The thing about the era of Benoit as World Champion, was not only was Smackdown in the worse condition it had ever been in, but Raw was suddenly in the best it had ever been in. Not only was Benoit the champion and having good feuds with Evolution, Shawn Michaels, and Kane, but there were lots of other exciting things going on.

Shelton Benjamin was getting his first singles push and getting wins over Triple H, Flair, and others.

Batista came into his own as the backbone of Evolution and participating in a bunch of awesome tag matches really upped his value.

Chris Jericho vs Christian was a kick-ass feud, along with evil bitch Trish.

The tag titles were being used to main event Raw most weeks, as Chris Benoit and Edge won the titles from Flair and Batista (that ended once La Resistance got the straps back).

Eugene had just debuted and was getting surprisingly over (until they overdid it that summer and then let Triple H murder Eugene).

I would dare say that Raw from WrestleMania XX until Summerslam was the absolute best and most promising era of Raw programming since the roster split. The only thing that dragged this time period down was the first Diva Search, and even then it has gone down in history as something that I like to make jokes about, so it's all good (now).
